  • The News4JAX I-TEAM is teaching you how to turn unwanted Robocalls from telemarketers into cash in your pocket. There’s a little-known law that’s bringing some people big payouts - just ask a Jacksonville military veteran who has earned more than $20,000 so far.

    I have a scanner, so I simply lay my phone on the screen with the text message and scan it. I put the photos in a file, send them a certified letter, Notice of Intent To Sue for violations of the TCPA. I give them 10 days to contact me via email to amicable resolve the violations, I include a copy of the lawsuit, pictures of the phone calls and texts. if I do not hear from them by the close of the business on the 10th day, I sue them on day 11 in federal court. So far, they have settled prior to being sued.

      You seem to be pretty knowledgeable so I wanted to ask what the process is of making the intent to sue letter and how would one start the actual lawsuit process?

      Thanks for the advice. I’m definitely doing this. I’ve already sued Sallie Mae years ago but I did it through an attorney. I would love to do this on my own.

      Good strategy, but some of those scammers just go on to sell email, etc. The less information to give them the better! If it does seem to be coming from a legitimate U.S. Company, send a registered 'cease and desist' letter to their headquarters.

      That is exactly what these so called creditors and debt collectors do to us, so I simply do the same back to them. Fair exchange is not robbery. SMILES@@danielabbey7726

    The tcpa law does in fact apply to debt collectors so for those watching this just know that.

    Not sure how this guy deals with the fact that these companies spoof other people's phone numbers so they can hide their identities. Nonetheless, kudos to him. Make them pay.

    • @JaimeBlanco666

      Play along. The phone number is pretty inconsequential.

    So, what happens when all or most of the robocallers register themselves as charities, political parties, or debt collectors? It is easy enough to do, and very difficult to prove otherwise in court.

    • @JaimeBlanco666
      @JaimeBlanco666 2 года назад +15

      If they’re selling something, that strategy wont work.

    • @ericfalloutguy8467
      @ericfalloutguy8467 Месяц назад

      Tcpa goes for debt collectors and they need to abide by that law.

      I am an experienced telemarketing expert I don't need the kit they mentioned that too your comment is negative and you need to reevaluate your position on the matter because you sound like a scammer defending their business..

  • @debraharris6395

    All that crap doesn't work. I've added my phone number to the registry. Do not call list. I have asked them to put me on the do-not call list. When I answer the phone they keep calling 10 to 15 calls a day. None of that suggestion has worked for me

    • @Thefluffytutu
      @Thefluffytutu 4 месяца назад +1

      Exactly why you should sue them and make them pay. They will stop calling then

  • @searchbug
    @searchbug 4 месяца назад

    When telemarketers or businesses doing outbound calls violate this law, they can face serious consequences. The penalties for violating the registry are designed to be a deterrent to discourage telemarketers from calling numbers on the list. These penalties can range from several thousand dollars per call to millions of dollars for repeated violations, depending on the severity and scale of the offense.

    Shame we can't get something like this over here in the UK, I have had up to 300 calls in a day, I have put my number on the telephone preference list but I still get calls.

    • @jacquelinemanzano9328
      @jacquelinemanzano9328 Год назад +1

      If the UK has a preference list/d not call list, it seems logical to also have a law that governs those who violate, otherwise such a list is redundant

      Perhaps what's neeced is repeat class action suits. For example, Comcast was sued back in 2009 and it looks like they're back up to the old tricks again.
