I'm going to be in the 5 beaches area early this summer. Any suggestions on lures for that area?

You should do it! I've spent a lot of time fishing from the yak and the inflatable. Whatever gets you on the water!

What are your rod and reel setups? if u don’t mind sharing I’m going out this weekend and don’t want to rent a setup

@Brandon Perez, are you going on a Party boat? Those guys normally fish deep, so you are going to want something relatively heavy to handle one pound weights going to the bottom. We use so many different setups- different types, styles, weights, etc of rods and reels because we fish different depths and styles. If you are going on a party boat for rockfish, I would recommend fishing 30 pound mono and get yourself a nice starter conventional reel compatible with 30 pound line. And then match the rod to the reel. Rod does not have to be any specific length- long rods better for casting, but you are just dropping down so short is totally fine. I hope this helps. If you need specifics, like you are debating about different brands, drop us another comment and I will have my partner, Mike, get back to you, as he is the gear specialist. Thanks for watching!

Hope the new season brings you success! Do you know of any good shore fishing near San Luis Obispo or Lojolla? I may be out that way soon and may have a few minutes to cast between meetings.
