The button is "U" by default IF IM NOT BEING MISLEAD haha
it is :)
nah its actually "I"
The new cinematic shots are not going unnoticed
this
What he said 🗣️🗣️🗣️
so you get around the multipathing from the ground by losing the lock and relying on the inertial guidance for the last seconds... smart
thats smart yeah. in a 1v1 or 1v2 engagement with not many people, what i always do is just to fly so high that you put the ground on the other side of the bandit from you, thereby making the missile fly thru the target to get to the ground effect clutter, even if the targets flying perfectly low. it works but not all that often
@@blessthismessssthat’s what I initially thought this video would talk about. I’ve found a “trick” that kinda works for this tactic, is to just aggressively pitch up as you fire from same alt (ground lvl). The missile has to course correct and ends up dropping from above. Depends a lot on speed and distance though
@@norske_ow3440 mhmm, thats also sometimrs what i do. it works especially well with R-27ERs, since gaijin has given them an insanely wide gimbal before launch and more than enough deltaV to come up and slam back down pulling 35Gs. i dub it the 'orbital strike' lol
also bonus, if ur engaging somebody who doesnt know any better, it can look to them as if you're missiling somebody else off to the side and therefore make you appear distracted to others, making them wreckless as they think you're an easy target when in reality your missile is dropping on their heads at mach 4+ lol. lowkey, tactics like these are what makes the 27ER even more op than people think the sheer speed advantage allows it to be. no other ingame missile can pull behind-the-back absurd shit like that one can
@@blessthismessss I agree, it has a lot going for it, but the speed is often the one that makes the difference
Goat
The video not starting with 'hello guys once again its matt' took me SO off guard
my ass in low tier seeing this video:
Don’t worry bud I was the same way 2100 hours ago😢😭
@@joeygilpin6562 yay just 1600 hours to go!
i feel the flying low part should be drastically reduced because of how over exaggerated it is because flying low is just such a brainless strategy now and its much more fun having a BVR battle where people are cranking missiles instead and using chaff properly
Literal brainlet LOL
I agree. Had a few matches lately where people weren't touching the grass and it was a lot more fun.
The problem might not be the 16v16, but that way too many aircraft survived until the merge, which made the game a shitshow.
Not saying all aircraft should as there are aircraft that are dogfight kings in game, Im okay with them doing this go low.
yea but without the ground hugging meta people will spam russian bias 100x more cus of r27er
If somebody locks me before I launch a missile, I just trun 95°-180° away from the lock and pop two rounds of chaff.
It has made top tier so much more fun by just staying alive.
Loosing 20-40 seconds and a lot of energy every time someone locks you definitely sounds fun
So its just a clever use of Inertal Navigation. It has however a fatal flaw. You cant hit a manoeuvring target with it, it simply takes one turn low to the ground, for the missile to miss entirely. So this tactic is really for the early game only, since when the furball starts everyone is turning.
That’s why he’s tracking via camera. If you’re smart you’ll know when exactly to lose the lock because you can’t turn hard enough to avoid it and even if you barely do you’ll still get splash damaged
radar missiles bout to get funny
I’ve noticed you can also stay low and loft 27ers from like 8-15km and if they strike downwards it’s like a 50/50 chance to get the kill
You can do this if you launch r27 from very high alt too. It will be hitting the target at a near vertical angle and will usually hit the plane while trying to hit a ground reflection below it. It works for sparrows as sell
If you fire from the right angle above them itll just hit anyway
Good day my fellow gamers! So today I played my last War Thunder match and turned off my PC for the last time. Moving to Poland from South Africa in a few weeks and unfortunately need to sell off my PC to be able to afford the rest of my things. So Ill be here watching the vids and watching the updates role in for a few months till I get settled and able to get back on War Thunder again. Its gonna suck to not be able to play since I've been playing since 2013. Hope yall enjoy ya matches and good luck out there! O/
using the terminal guidance at the last second to get around the ground clutter is pretty smart
I guess we'll have to fly in the mountains then
Or you know fly high and actually use bvr tactics
@@rfiuwwinlye7453 Yeah lemme just beat the ER with a Sparrow or hell, with a Phoenix it's difficult due to the weirdly capped speed.
I've always been doing that cuz it's pretty fun to hide around mountain and spook the hell outta a random mig with my magic 2, also the reason I hate flat maps cuz I can't pull that shit there
@@rfiuwwinlye7453You will run out of chaff
You must not play TT War Thunder as an American😅..😢@@rfiuwwinlye7453
The missle went PITBULL
Yay, now ERs will be even better. As if it wasn't hard enough to dodge them.
Stop the cap lad , R-27E/ER were not harder to dodge than AIM-7F/M , you either hadto go cold and chaff or fly extra low you for both of them .
@@alb9229ER's are OBJECTIVELY harder to dodge my guy, they are near impossible to kinetically dodge unlike sparrows, but sparrows have finally gotten updated so that they are more consistent
You guys can dodge them?
@@alb9229 Other way round, you can dodge an aim 7 very easily by simply doing a barrel roll whereas you can't dodge an R-27 at all. The only exception to this would be the aim 7-e2 at close ranges because it accelerates so fast.
@@alb9229You're just kidding, right?
Another tactic that I use which in my opinion is a lot more safer, which is where I get in between 8-10KM of the target and as I launch my missile I pitch up a slight bit until the box is centred on the enemy and slightly notch if needed. (It isn’t 100% accurate but does work majority of the time.)
If the missile comes to the target at a near vertical you don't even have to do this trick. Missile will aim at a reflection below the target, but since it comes from above that doesn't matter and it will still hit your target
They haven’t balanced this missile in what, a year? And now it’s discovered that you can pull this shit? Damn, that’s so dirty. Fox-3’s can’t come fast enough
You can always learn how to actually defend against missiles, top tier is no longer about guns and dogfight, it's about missiles and BVR tactics
@@Epic_candle I mean yeah you can always notch/go cold. They’re just leagues better than anything close to it
@@christopherchartier3017 even notching doesn't seem to work like half the time now, i can be perfectly 90 degrees periodically dumping chaff flares and it just continues to track
@Brzzzyexe I could be wrong but it depends how you notch. I'm pretty sure you need to utilise ground clutter, notching at high altitude isn't that useful against all aspect PD radars. Without ground clutter, it can still see you, with ground clutter the radar can't tell the difference between you and the mountain behind/below you
@@thegreybuda3774 notching the r27er is still extremely low probability, whereas sparrow you can just turn 80 degrees and pop chaff twice and the missile is rendered impotent
Just remove the multipath effect and give everyone Active radar missiles. People should learn to deal with doppler radars. The current low flight meta is sick.
I like when the way of dodging missiles changes, the majority have no clue for weeks and get swamped.
I mean, the correct response to a sarh or ARH, missile is to go low, just in the opposite direction. I really hope they don't add ARH with 16v16 still being a thing at toptier. I will not touch that trash heap. It will be such chaos I have no idea how anyone can enjoy it, and MOST importantly, it's not realistic. no country, or army is going to deploy 16 fighters, all in 1 sector and fly them directly at the enemy, not even russia does that.
WE NEED 8v8 or 12v12 pvp modes for top tier!!!
@@cookiecracker2 Fewer player is welcomed by me, but no necesserily by Gayjin. The thing is pro pilots can have much more influence on the match if the player count is down, which means noobs are going to have even worse experience.
@@cookiecracker2 *defending by flying low works not because of multipathing effect irl(in most cases, you actually can force missile to go to the ground but you have to fly at >1.0M speed at altitude less than 5-10m which is basically impossible). Flying low is just decreasing the range of the missile cause the air is more dense.
so basically, only the r27 can do this.
fun
Yea totally not OP
So basically only the Phoenix can be fired and forget ... welcome to the club lad .
Good ol russian bias. heaven forbid US have a weapon that surpasses russia in-game.
@@alb9229wow... you mean the pheonix that can only hit a target that is either tabbed out of the game or deaf, dumb and blind?
@@marshall-yo5ho Your argument is completely irrelevant to the point being made . The point is there are plenty of cases of ''only this can do that'' in the game , you just prefer to focus on a particular case out of personal bias . Beside you need to update your game and your record my dude cause you sound like a broken record. Phoenix have been slapping with the latest updates ( hitting consistently nothing + chaffing targets or even very low flying ones ) !
hey guys so this key binding he’s talking about is already bounded to U by default
It’s works sometimes but if the path of the missile is still being dragged down by the end it won’t hit, in short you can drag it instead of it going down on its own sometimes
Impossible to dodge R73 and now you can't dodge R27's, Okay that's it I'm not playing top tier anymore
R-73 isn't impossible unless you aren't using countermeasures, just turn off your aftetburner, flare 2-3 times then turn out of the way. Don't make a path to yourself with flares. Now R-27's, they aren't impossible to dodge. What you're trying to do is to make the plane launching the R-27 lose track. Go low, go cold, and chaff.
@@ChinbiBro Seems many people at top tier do not carry chaff, or use it incorrectly, and still complain
@@ryanfreeman5083 yeah, most of the players grinded their way with the F4S by bombing and don't know how to use missiles, evade missiles or even notch properly because all they did was bomb bases.
I gotta say Man I've been watching you since Danger Zone and you've improved very well, Great Quality and love the new Cinematic View 💪🏼
Oh man i love the improvement mat, the video looks more interesting with the new stuff.
Matt you are a beast. Experimenting and testing and those cinmea shots, wow. You've really stepped up production value significantly. Please remember to take time for yourself, and if you love what you are doing then lets double down.
Nice cinematography MAT!
im surprised you find out about this only now . I was doing this for almost half a year and i play this game 1 year and 2 months , i learn to do it on ADTW and proxy killing enemies by forcing my missile to explode instead of hitting .
Really liking the higher quality video format. Quality > Quantity
It's really not a bug/exploit per say - the more advanced missiles have IOG, and use inertia to maintain the last know flight heading as instructed by the radar. If the target isn't maneuvering then the missile will keep the heading and the proximity sensor will do the rest. likely, the reason why the missile isn't self-destructing is that by turning off the radar, there is no radar beam to tell the missile that it's near the ground.
Rather than an exploit - it's just mechanics in play.
How true to life it is? that's something you'd need to ask an SU-27 pilot.
Now, the thing is, is this considered ethically correct to neglate the only working tactic against SARH missiles
I was wondering why I was getting shot by radar missiles from 20km while flying 1m from the ground and flaring
that's funny, you turn it into a ground based AA missile so it only relies on proximity fuse when close enough and it dead reckons its way until proximity triggers. cute.
I feel like the missile guidance and radar mechanics are often completely over exaggerated in War Thunder. For instance, notching in War Thunder is almost a guaranteed way to kill a radar lock in game. In real life most of the radars are basically unnotchable within a certain range. I’ve notched radars and killed missiles being within 1 mile in War Thunder and it really shouldn’t be that way.
Mat on his way to give aim 9M style IRCCM to radar missiles
But one question what is going the missile or the game doing if I’m loosing one second before the target the lock 🤔🤔
Question, what if instead of losing the lock you change to IRST, which doesn't have ground problems. Still at the last second but the missiles still have data link
IRST = InfraRed Search and Track, as the Radar missile (27er) is responds to information provided by the aircrafts radar (simply said) changing to IRST still loses the radar lock. Yes, you may still see the green box but IRST and Radar Lock are 2 different things :)
@@mjoea1624 The armament computer on Su-27 and MiG-29 can steer the R-27R/ER towards a target locked by the IRST by datalink updates to their INS , obviously IRL a proper lock is required to in the terminal phase for the SARH seeker to assure maximum angular accuracy and thus hit the target .
Every time I get a sudden non repeating launch warning from a Russian aircraft I do a moderate change of direction. When the aircraft reacquires lock my flight path has changed enough for the missile to not have the time or energy to catch me.
That is dirty.
Nah it's big brain move
Totaly fair misile and countri comrads!
I got a question about the tac view in the replay, on my end missiles do not appear when fired, or while in the air. I have all the settings turned on, how do you have missiles appear in tac view in replay?
Would have been nice if they hadn't nerfed the tornado ids ground radar to basically not work at all.
huh, i looked at the same replay and the first guy isn't low enough to the ground anyway.
Do we know which missiles have INS in War Thunder?
Only the R-27ER, R-27R and R-24R or are there more?
no, only russian ones. I think AIM 7P might had it but Gaijin refused it to add that missile for some reason...
Phoenix has INS too but it's an ARH so it can't benefit from this
INS doesn't matter. AIM-7s will do this too provided you time it correctly. A Sparrow will fly strait after you drop the lock for a decent distance.
I'm pretty sure skyflashes have INS.
no chance that gaijin in the middle of 2024, didn't add aim 7p.
What are the chances of them adding the SR-71 Blackbird or at least the A-12 and A-12 prototype which is capable of carrying the AIM-47 Falcon missiles
That work only with top tier missile, and if he G turn that won't work...
2 kinds or people in this game and comments show it lol
1. The fighter pilot drop out who thinks the solution is to simple get better and notch. and they win every game playing like a real fighter pilot.... (never seen em in game just comments)
2. The guy just trying to learn how to effectively play against... 100 missiles flying around with RWR going off from 3 directions nonstop... and have fun.
i’ve actually met one of these fools, ppl who thinks using IRL tactics will make him the beaulo of war thunder, ingame and the guy just called me the N word after i told him wt isn’t DCS cause i just tossed a aim7 at him from ground level lmao
Yeah but this only works with the R-27ER and phoenix, probably with R-24R too
So Mat the missile basically becomes a fox-3 for a couple of seconds?
Nope , the missile just continues on the trajectory it was following prior to loosing the lock for couple seconds , it doesn't mean that it is locked on the received radar echo from the target like a FOX-3 would be. This tactic is only viable in the game because players can track their missile .
@@alb9229 Theorically speaking it's viable even in real life. By doing quick math you can estimate when the fired missile will be near the moving target, considering the informations you get with the radar lock.
@@yoshimitsu1260 To do the ''quick'' math you are emplying , you would need to have the onboard radar track both the target and the missile or have two way datalink with the missile reporting its time to target to the mothership which would imply that the missile has a radar lock on the target on its own ( that would make it a ARH ) and even there we are talking about millisecond reaction time window order of magnitude at best .... tell me how much does 23+32 ... there you go you've blown your reaction time window and that is without accounting for the fact that pilot would have to read the information first and have tons of additional information load to deal with in the aircraft. Bottom line being there is absolutely no practical way a human pilot could perform that irl and it would make no sense anyway . If the goal was to have the SARH seeker stop tracking few seconds or millisecond during the terminal phase when engaging an extremely low flying target then you could perform that directly by programing the seeker to do so instead of having to cut the radar illumination fro the mothership. For instance when the parasite return signal ( there are singal polarisation techniques employed with inverse monopulse seekers to destinguish between legit returns and background returns ) goes beyond a certain threshold the seeker turns itself off like some IR seeker do with the flare filtering by energy rise time IRCCM technique.
Uhhh, no. It just continues flying straight.
its just flies in the last predicted path of the aircraft , so if the aircraft moves a little bit in the last few seconds (after u drop lock it will miss). its just like firing a dumb rocket with proxy fuse hoping it gets close enough to the target to proxy.
maaaan ur vidws are awesome now
already did this since i got Su-27, the problem is just timing
yeah, people have figured it out this for a while. I've been getting killed at 50-100 meters altitude thinking it was a bug ir smth.
Just don't fly straight if you have warning about missle launch
Will it work in SB?
how to do it in sim?
Mat, please zoom in so we can see the missile and target more clearly.
is taht only working with russian planes?
*nuh uh in argentine *

nah man, there's no russian bias, gaijin said it!!!
No, the Su-27 isn't OP, the F-16C and JAS-39s are better by far.

What a dirty tactic haha
So how can we say that this tactic still works but not against noobs, we have to believe it... I took an aim7f from a level 23 with 11 hours of realistic battle, and I was flying 5 meters above the water, clearly I couldn't fly any lower and its 7f hit me. 😂 ???? 1st time in over 2500 hours of gameplay I've seen this. I'm also starting to wonder about WT, I hope Gaijin didn't implement what I think...
Flying lower? Haven’t watched video yet idk
It's a way to almost always dodge radar missiles by going very close to the ground - the missiles just ram themselves into the ground.
No I was saying if they fly low, you fly lower
Eow.....the LAST thing we need is to teach SU-27 pilots how to CHEAT EVEN MORE with the R-27ERs...... =_= It's already faster and longer ranged than the AIM-7 with the SU-27 and Mig-29SMT more modern 90s radars already having a better chance of maintaining radar lock.
Gotta love the 27 meta for over a year, and they are able to do this while we have horrible aim-7s, and refuse to give us another missile... It's not like they had HMD r-73s on the mig-29 for over a year before the C and 9m came out. Russian bias is real, and its such bullshit.
Good thing Gaijin keep handholding the win rates by giving russia the best of everything and arguing against anything equal being added for nato.
Aim-7MHs need to be added to the F-15 and Aim-7Ps for the F-14B and F-16C
russian bias does not exist... russian bias:
This only works for Russian planes b the way 😂
yes... he literally said it only works for INS (which basically is only on the R27/R24)
HELLO
bro at part of the video i think u dont understand what u are talking about idk maybe its slow
I love how people in the comments just doesn't see the clear answer, don't fly straight when your RWR is fuckin crying, start actually defending instead of just lazily sit your jet on the trees
just defend against against 16 other players shooting 100 radar missiles at you
Well notching and going cold isn’t new. The problem is, the BVR dynamic right now is basically just defend the R-27ER until you get to the merge, it will always beat your SARH if you try to be aggressive whatsoever. The only thing you CAN do is defend until the merge so long as the Russian jet notices you

Delete this video right now! Do not ruin top tier even more!
guy literally encourage glitching. Yes it is glitching, you're abusing the iog function of the missile by triggering it thanks to the tracking camera. It's just like when bullpup got introduced and gaijin had to remove the tracking camera for them because you could guide them beyond los.
Abusing something that the missile is capable of is not a glitch
Not it's not glitching at all. Your loosing the lock which causes the missile to only fly via inertial guidance, which is something gaijin has programmed the missiles to be able to do. This is literally something a missile could do in real life, so how is it a glitch?
way to show you have no knowledge about missiles
@@SpencerBaum It is glitching since you wouldn't know when to break lock unless you follow the missile in the tracking camera. That is obviously something you can't do in real life just like the bullpup issue from years ago.
Blud that's not called a glitch
