why is it that when i’m defending and cutting a passing lane manually, my player sees the ball passing by him about an inch from his feet and does not attempt at all to try and intercept the pass????? Also why do my players make automatic standing tackles when i don’t even press circle to make the tackle? and they then end up not even winning the ball. RIDICULOUS

Fifa 21 and fifa 20 are almost the same, but i have witnessed in defending is defensive awareness is a very very important attributr this FIFA... AI tends to move by anticipating where the ball is going, well only guys with 85+ defending awareness do that.... one of the most common mistake which i also do commit is when opponent scores a goal or two i will start to run with every possible player towards him and that easily allows my opponent to score, conceding a goal doesn't end the game, don't rush out with your defenders, make sure u have a CDM who can minimum run for 70 mins of a game and use him to tackle, intercept or anything.... don't use ur defenders to run towards opponent players.... great video neil as usual.. great content...
For anyone having trouble switching players, change your player switch settings in the options from player to ball. It'll make it easier to switch to players around the ball.

@@nickarmour199 it does need practice to get used to. Set it to player relative and just make sure your formation facilitates the switching fluidly.

Worst defending im fifa ever, we dont need a tutorial how to think tactically, we need a miracle that Strikers stop glitching through defenders and that defenders react correctly when a through ball comes..... Rediculous how a fast striker can glitch through the top tier defenders this year...

if you to agressive, you run forward, away from the defensive line/ offside line....then you open alot of room where you was supposed to be..... but when you run backwards alone with a striker, while the rest of the defence is on a line maybe 10-15 meters higher on the field.... you give the opposite very much space to run into behnind the defesive line..... what would have been 10 meter offside before its suddenly maybe 5 meter onside....if the rest of the defence dont follow you, its maybe 15 meter for a winger on both sides and also a striker to be onside, and you are alone to stop them all.... are we not supposed to stand in a line, that put them offside, and sometimes offside trap them?.... we usually see world class defences on a line movining same direction keeping the line allmost perfect even if they move forwards or backwords....
you dont even mention that the offsideline is the reason you shouldnt be to agresive.... so my opinion is that you are right bout not be too agressive, but not the same reason as you say... and i disagree you should follow the strikers and make a big space with onside in front of you, when you ruin the offside line by runnin backwards makin a big space between you and rest of the defence.... are we not supposed to stand in a offside line, zone mark, put offside traps,,,,but not "man mark" a man til you have made a big room in front of you where anyone will be onside....
i am not hatin, and you have good videos, and say alot stuf alot people can learn from,,,,but im not so sure if you had the "correct sollution" here? especially for example at 14.20 where he made him onside by follow his run...when the pass goes he have run from a perfect line, that would made him 2-3 meter offside..... the other center back is standing there, and if they was on line it would be a CLEAR offside,,, instead he run in front of him to start with, he let him run past the other center back and still be in clearly onside,,,means even if he didnt got the pass, it could prolly come runs from everywhere, that became onside because he ruined the line with 3-5 meters..... and he has to conroll all of them all by himself,,,, what if it comes 2 wingers and a striker and they are 3 against one....
am i totaly buggin? or is it more right to say you should stay in the defensive line, and that should be straight and movin same directions?....
correction: you might be right on fifa, cus maybe the defenders dont set so good lines as in real life, and we cant controll all the players at same time....... but still on fifa you could have offside trapped him there.... i used to not be a fan of high defensive lines, cus of the enourm space it creates behind em.... but after learning more, like for example about gegenpress or pochettinos style, i see they press so high and agressive, and smart, so its no time, lanes or space to take advantage of the big room....unless you do something genious....so in modern football i think most of the best teams play with a high line, cus its safer, as long as the opposite team cant play them out of the high press..........

Running jockey shouldn't be used all the time. Just 90% of the time.
Your defending is way better when you are not using sprint.
I use it, sometimes in combination with self-contain (and team contain in midfield). This ensures im always in position at distance. Then I walk towards them. If they use a skill move, you are in a much better position to stick a foot out or sprint to recover.
If you have a naturally fast player (non-sprinting) it still feels like you are sprinting.

Can you release a video specifically for defending the wings? Too many times people get down the wing and I can't catch them so then I panic and don't know what to do? Ends up with players getting into the box and running straight onto goal or getting a simple pass across thanks

im gunna try these tips out, i really hope they work ive been playing horrible online , every game i get scored on first and at least 2-3 goals. its super frustrating and i know clearly its my defense that is causing me to lose these games but i use to be so good at defense and stopping plays. now feel like im defending in water and these guys just slip by like their avoiding the ball. i was on DIV 4 online and id consider myself an above avg to intermediate player...now i cant even get out of DIV 9! its horrible, not happy with these new fifa updates whatsoever, it was impossible to score before now its impossible to defend 😤😡😭😭

At 9:00 the play when you switch to wan bissaka and close out the angle, what if the opponent decides to do a drag back or a fake stop and pass it the open player on the left. How do we defend that?
