It’s like I forgot how to defend, this just helped in my last game
You’re so right about defending. I’m an elite player currently in div 2 but when I get frustrated the video made me realise I pull out my CB and that’s why I concede getting more agitated, and the point you made about how the cb should just be a wall is such good image of how to defend positioning reigns supreme in defending . When I vs some defenders that are slow and I question how I can’t sprint past them it’s because they know to stick to positions awesome video

Neal, you're the best at coaching this game. Kudos to you. I actually went back at 2:18 to go back to see if you did tackle and you didn't! Patience is a virtue and what you're pretty much teach is for us not to be too aggressive and rush blindly into the opponents, running jockey and calm positioning just as real-world defenders do. Well done man 👏

I've found that the Block playstyle + is really solid this year as well, I got Carragher from the hero pre-order and he's incredible at it when the positioning is good.
Also the Defend++ is also very good positionally and CDMs with Hold+
How did you get your hero? I pre ordered too the Ultimate edition but I have no Hero

The problem is cms/cdms not dropping back even when they're on holding and defend. Opponent's run past like theres no one there and automatically you feel like you have to get ur cb out to defend
When I get stressed or chasing the game I always panic and make rash choices defending! Great video top advice!! 👍🏻

At the start of every fifa I get excited and forget the basics 😂
Maybe a video on how not to lose the ball in dangerous positions. This year the dribbling is so bad that trying to turn away against press or holding possession more generally has become trickier
I have been finding a role ++ is make up for pace in a lot of situations, especially at fullback - would be interested to hear your thoughts on that.
I have been useing this technique (using cms/cdms for moveing around and keeping the CBS in place). It works mostly but there are games where the opponents moves past the midfield like they are not even there, not like the moderately slow paced game play you just showed here. Is it cause of the depth?
I need a scoring tutorial more than anything haha, defending is not the problem for me so far.
You say its not about the players, but all online guides are all FUT.
What is it actually like in career mode for Crawley Town, for example, when defenders are only rated around 55!?
FC24 they were static, no matter what methods were used. The AI attackers were always much quicker than defenders, and their defenders always seemed to be quicker than my attackers, even with my attackers having a faster pace and acceleration.
It would be good to see these guides for career mode as well with lower teams. The majority of FIFA/FC gamers are still career mode focused and don’t care about FUT
You can defend the same way in all teams, its just that pace makes it easier to recover if you make mistakes, I could still defend extremely well with a player with 70 pace, but I advise against it, as if you make a mistake you have less room to recover, but the principles here remain the same for 20 years of defending, sprint speed and def awareness are most important
any period of the year that you give a discount on the course?
This year the game is horrible. Defending is bad, i don't know how does my opponents gave speed Boosts. I literally have Nico Williams and I have defenders with 70 Pace or less catching him. While my St juste with 93 Pace and Inácio with 80 Pace don't catch a 85 Pace opponent. To score is very hard because i play a lot of passing and asking my guys to Run with L1 but they always get catched up or marked. I don't even know how do people press O and they take the Ball out of me from behind, front and sides. But i press it and they gain the rebound.
Horrible, another year, another fail.
Why does defenders have a skating effect, as if they can't control themselves
Defending in fc 25 is way easier than 24 there's less sliding

You'll notice when you try to tackle and miss you'll "slide" in the direction of the tackle but in 25 that's not there anymore
When doing offside trap thereafter pressing TEAM PRESS does it really have any effect when defending?
Standing tackles are NOT working? Anyone else sometimes able to stick a foot in, sometimes it just does nothing when you press the button?
yup, they just stand there, no attack, nothing
When i press r2 after certain time the bar on its head becomes non active and he stops pushing

I have an 86 rated team with some 88 rated players, but i can't defend with them as you show it. They feel like tanks, turning super slow. When the opponents player runs towards me, my player is completely immobile. It makes no sense, the opponents just slip through.
My players feel as if someone is steering against my moves.
If I run to the left, it's as if someone is pulling them to the right. I don't understand it.
Also: If the opponent is right in front of me, head-on, with the ball towards my player... then I press tackle, but my player does nothing. No attack, nothing.

does anyone know why it doesn't let me switch players i'm using for heading on defending corners, I want to use van dijk but it doesn't switch when i press it
You have to aim at him to score a header with him, on defending corners press l1 and switch to VVD and then mark the area

Does anyone else have a problem where you can't move keeper or player lock?
He doesnt show you what happens when youre NOT playing a complete novice & they start mixing in pass variations, over the top balls on the wing etc.
Its the same thing, you just switch earlier and defend the same way, this player is not a complete novice, this would be the average player, the same principles I have been defending for 20 years in the highest divisions with just cheap gold teams, the basics of football never change, even irl footballers defend the space and angle they dont try to "win the ball back"
@@NealGuides I find the issue is when they make a over the top ball to the wingers the game auto switches to your fullback which is fine but if you dont tackle then instantly the defence collapses

Neal, thanks for the content. Following for years. But please can you help with passing. Almost every pass goes wrong. I did adjust the settings for passing but doesn’t matter how I adjust, still.
And why is every goal we conceed rebounds? The amount is crazy
Deflector can really help if gk is making it rebound, passing is all about the angle and space, when you are saying wrong, wrong player or intercepted?
