Mmhhhhmmm, yes true but it could also affect the lateral pressure on the remaining supports which could result in this project being in safe. There for I think It would make more sense if you had some way of decreasing the lateral strain on the 2x4 and increased the proportions of the screw size and so on, to make it much more steady and safe. George Phillips go for it! Super fun to build, and making your own handholds is satisfying. You could also buy professional handholds. It’s all made of construction lumber, so it is solid, just keep it dry. Great thing with woodworking, you can just add more wood/ screws if you don’t have confidence in the structure haha
@@georgep5246 The dimensions that I used are in the video description. They are standard sizes for where I live. The plywood sheet is what the design is based around, and it is 4 feet by 8 feet (1.2 meter by 2.4 meter) and the lumber matches that. Our 2x4 studs are 2 inch by 4 inch by 8 feet. I am not sure what the standard sizes are in Germany, but I would chose a large plywood sheet and get enough structural boards to frame around it. I am interested to know what the standard sizes are in Germany and how your build turns out!
This may be a dumb question , but what size screws did you use , I'm actually about to go to the store soon to buy the wood to build this , thanks for the video !
They were 25lb and 45lb weights. If you have weights or sandbags you should use them. It is just good practice to keep the center of gravity low on the wall, especially when using the most straight up angle. We never tried it without the weights. I would say it depends on you, a workaround would be to drive bolts into the concrete.
@@A.Mere.Creator I was wondering about this too. It looks like the hinges on the bottom are taking nearly all of the vertical weight - what kind of hinges are those? Door hinges, or something more heavy duty?
Hey guys I know it’s been a while since you posted this, but I am in the process of building a home climbing wall and was just curious exactly what kind of hinges y’all used? I am looking for ideas for the types of hinges to attach my kickboard with. Thank you. Nice work!
Just lean it up on the wall and put chains at top. Move them in and out to adjust. Lot less work and it could be stored against the wall without Iegs. Just a thought
Hey thanks for watching! It’s holding up great. That was all construction grade lumber, it’s basically what most houses are made of. I’m not worried about it. Sunlight and moisture are the things that wear away at wood, so just keep it dry and you’re golden.
This is the first home wall/woody I've seen with an adjustable angle. I really like that feature.
Today I learned it’s called a “woody”
If you turn the 2x4 on its side and drill the plywood into the 2in face it will create a much more stable wall. Otherwise, great job!

honestly an amazing video 10/10 would recommend
Nice one! I am going to keep your build in mind for my own woody :)
This is awesome guys! Hoping to recreate the exact same thing!
I am also wondering how this held up, looking to build one now!

@@A.Mere.Creator Thanks! What were the dimensions of the timber you used? I'm in Germany, and planning on building this from next week.

Wow incredible this is exactly what I need for my new place! Do you happen to have a blue print for the base?
Looks rad! Fun vid!
_CH3F Thank you sir! I put a lot of effort into the videos, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Cheers
uauuuuu !!!!!! good job
Wowww!! Amazing job!
What are the size? Thanks
Turn all your support 2x4s front and back 90 degrees and it will be more sturdy. You are stressing them opposite of their strength axis.

This looks awesome. Planning to replicate myself...
Question - how necessary are the weight plates? What weight are you using, and anyway around this?

How did those hinges hold up? Seems like a lot of weight on them
The hinges can handle more weight than we are putting on it

How tall is it?
How heavy did this turn out to be?

With todays wood prices this is now a $300 wall lol!
