The grip of those Hoosiers is unreal considering Marty and Moog were on Pilot Sport 4's. The guy in the yellow car at 3:00 shows the need of good mirrors on a public track day. Luddenham is a cool track and seeing the GC8 working hard is great too, thanks for the video!
Nice driving Andrew, i saw the MCM track video a couple of days ago, and when i saw that 3rd subaru,i thought isn't that the motive wrx😅a sequential gearbox would have been handy on this track, alot of shifting going on, but it seems to be a fun track to rip around.Nice video.👍✌️👉
Great video Andrew. I owned a GC8 brand new in 2001 here in the USA, was a NA 2.5rs. I love that chassis and have always wanted the STI JDM version. Nice to see the GC8 track battle between the 2 WR blue pearl cars!
Brilliant... I've often said that you'd beat MCM. It's 1 of their first serious cars they've built & although the specs were very similar you are clearly the better wheelman. And to be fair, with your previous experience & work you've done in the likes of Time Attack I'd expect you would've been. Well done & nice to see the friendly rivalry! ✌🏻😁
how this video got no views yet? BTW first comment love your series about the GC8 impreza GT turbo , indeed the best WRX out there , and also saw you in MCM video too
This rexy sounds nice and it ticks all the boxes, "light mods " for reliability but quality suspension set up and tyres. Good driving goes a long way too . I can tell you love these old rexies.
@@MotiveVideo I believe his setup isn't right. You can see when you are behind him how twitchy his car is in the corners. Might be down to him learning that DCCD, though. I noticed on mine how easy it is to go from under to over steer and back since I swapped transmissions (about the same time as he did too, lol).
Definately setup and tyre...marty's sti didnt do some or most of the front part of handling upgrade for his gc8 apart from sway bar upgrade..and i believe they ran bridgestone re003?
That's a very handy time first time out. You're obviously very comfortable with the car. A big difference to that first tyre test at Wakefield all that time ago. A very good track to learn your car's limits and your own. There's no doubt you've got more time in it, all it will take is laps around that track. Great work!
I watched the MCM video earlier today, thinking "hmmm I'm not sure how much more they'll get out of a street tyre but it still looks slow" then I get treated to this race tyre awesomeness. I can feel the difference through the camera...
A7s are insanely good, local Winton legend Rhys managed a low 1:30 in a stock B16 ek civic, something like a 2s drop after swapping from another semi slick.
Andrew, I know you built the 180sx with MCM previously but, would you consider building a joint MCM/Motive DVD purpose built track car with them? That would be an awesome joint venture I reckon. Keep up the great work.
is the track really that small? or does the WRX not have a quick enough rack? seems to need to shuffle the wheel alot, for corner that doesnt "seem" needs as much steering input?
Bryce I really shouldn’t comment before coffee! I was getting at the hands off the wheel changing down in particular through corners. I get it can’t be helped sometimes on such a tight track. Still a better driver than me 🙂
Brett Webster ah yes, hahah. Torque would help him out I’m sure, though the issue still lies: lock to lock on those cars is 3 turns-probably more with that smaller diameter wheel he’s got. That’s a lot of shuffling the wheel or locking elbows!
Now i knew.. its your gc8 chopping MCM brz and gc8.....haha.. cheers... Anyways.. what engine oil did you use for trackday..and what average and max oil temp/pressure u got running them?
I can do it, but dont need to in this car. It has synchros and doesnt lock up the drivetrain. There is no benefit from it. Plus, im tall and the pedal placement vs steering wheel on this car is difficult.
I cant Believe Mcm Didn't even mention you , they should of have you a wee plug 🤙🏼👌🏼👍🏻💙💜
You could see it in the mirrors before it passed them.
Ahahaha he wiped the floor with them they might’ve been a bit mad 😂😂😂 say what you will about Hawkins but the man can drive
So it was you in their video for a brief second. 😎
Well done mate, that subie is fast.
Suspected the same thing when I saw it. 😉
Hmm funny they didn’t say it was you....
Yeah me too 😂
That was you guys?! I saw their episode all the way from Baltimore, USA!
Yeah man these guys have been around since before MCM just not on the interballs🤙
Yeah I saw another Scooby & thought it might be Andrew, lol.
Great driving and wow those tires are really gripping in the corners! The WRX really looked like it belonged on that track.
Looked like a Go-Kart the way it was tearing around that track.
Great driving . The amount of grip and corner speed your WRX has is phenomenal.... Go the TD04 !!!

Solid. Really like this budget wrx segment
Looks alot of fun out there even for a small tight track. Up the Gc8!
I knew it was you there, that Jet014 plate gave the game away :)
I saw the Banner on the window.

Great driving too. You picked up the lines really quickly.
You nearly wore that 1200 coupe. I said whoa exactly when you did.

I literally said this would happen on your last wrx video. Great video. That subaru sounds awesome.
Great vision in this episode, can see you getting more confident every time in this car.
Keep it up.
Gall dang that is music around the track 😍
Gem of a channel. Good job Andrew.

Good driving. Show us more of your cars on Luddenham.
Weve showed a few if you look through

Your watching it from a playlist. Its unlisted

I saw that grin on your face when you passed Moog, good stuff hahaha
Yeah it made me laugh when you see the little glances & double takes when you passed them both... Modestly done but very funny 😂
I was waiting for him to give Moog the chopped fingers. That would have been epic.
Need to see more GC8! Bring it back!
Andrew... YOU CAN DRIVE!
Thanks. No doubt the youtube pro drivers will still offer me tips 🤷♂️
So much grip! Love my Hoosiers
75% less understeer than Marty's WRX. Driver or set up 🤔
Probably a bot of both. Marty can drive better than most though

haha i loved the MCM hunting and almost taken out by a Datto. i can see it is very well set up WRX
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 love the gc8 !
Nice driving 👍👏
Great video - rematch when MCM boys get the turbo on his 86?
A7s are insanely good, local Winton legend Rhys managed a low 1:30 in a stock B16 ek civic, something like a 2s drop after swapping from another semi slick.
1:34.9 is hardly a low 1:30, unfortunately!!
@@rhysrhysrhys The mad lad himself!
Luddenham is a real side to side track, you always think you can go faster down the cork screw, ive done a 58 on a wet track
That noise is why I want a Subaru. It's so damn good.

I think the last time Andrew was in their video was for the 'SUBARUTE' buildup for the MCM vs Roadkill showdown...
Mighty CarT Mods... I like it...
Good time! Never had problems with oil starvation?
Very well set up GC8, not surprised it whipped a street STi. What was the lap time in the end?
Lap time is in the video at the end
Jesus mate.. you made the MCM cars look like they were on their way to church on Sunday!
Thats the difference between street car and track dedicated car
Yes i knew that Easter egg in Mighty Car Mods !!!!
When I saw that car , im like : its Andrew !!!!
When I was watching the MCM video I had an inkling it was you.
Great stuff
is the track really that small? or does the WRX not have a quick enough rack?

Both. Its that small and it doesnt have fast enough rack. Not affecting our pace though
Looks can be deceiving on video, that rex was going way faster than it looked too.
Anyone recommend someone to install AGI cage in Melbourne?
Now we know who's WRX just showed up behind moogs!
should get me to chase ya with me drone next time ;)
Love the Subaru 👍👍👍✌
should of done the chop chop past Moog in the BRZ haha
Love the blow off sound. Can't stand the chirp ones need a real whoosh.
Wonder what bov does this sound?
@@krispykruzer me to cause I need my A4 to sound like that
@@krispykruzer might be gfb mach 1? It does sound good this rexy.
CHOPPED :-)
What mods/power/setup are you running? My blob wrx is at 300hp and done a couple track days
Have a watch back through our build series and can see all the development
I would really recommend to have your "POV" camera mounted on your chin if possible in terms of safety. Really nice video though. I learned a lot!
The arm is collapsable. I wouldnt stress about it
Geez Andrew, I'm going to have to call you 'Shuffles' from now on....
You almost have to with how much input you need to give these stock racks/columns. On my GD I had to get a quickener, drove me nuts on track!
Or a bit more torque to save having to change gears so frequently
Brett Webster what? We’re talking about him shuffling the wheel..

53.2 so far on 11 year old tyres.. will be back in a few weeks to push that number down.
Hey Andrew what tyres did you say you have on the wrx?
Hoosier A7
@@MotiveVideo thanks
Marty should watch some Motive videos to learn how to setup a wrx for track.
Now i knew.. its your gc8 chopping MCM brz and gc8.....haha.. cheers...
Anyways.. what engine oil did you use for trackday..and what average and max oil temp/pressure u got running them?
wow that car is way more dialed in than Martys one, no understeer to be seen here, you need to tell him your setup.
@ChrisHallett83 yeah i realized motive is running Hoosier slicks after i wrote that comment tho, im sure those slicks make a tonne of difference
Turn 1 is a little similar to QR bumpy and fast
4.29 that is the difference between someone who can set a car up for motorsport & pedal it and an 'enthusiast' in a road car.
Best upgrade is to train the walnut behind the steering wheel.
I think driver skill has allot to do with it as well !!
Shade thrown at mighty car mods about the tyres considering both mcm cars are running their "sponsored" Michellens 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor moog and Marty both got chopped on they're own channel
They didnt get chopped. It just shows what dedicated race car tires, brake pad and alignment does compared to a street car.
*Their......They're is "they are"
Not sure how MCM have so many subscribers and Motive has so few. Motives content Is on a completely superior level.
How come no Aussies learn to heal toe?? Practice in your daily driver, its really basic stuff
Because our toes aren’t injured to begin with?
I can do it, but dont need to in this car. It has synchros and doesnt lock up the drivetrain. There is no benefit from it. Plus, im tall and the pedal placement vs steering wheel on this car is difficult.
Motive Video exactly. Joking aside, my height and shoe size has always hindered my own ability to heel and toe.
Why heel and toe in a 4wd? Are one of those youtube knowledge kinda guys?
