Supposedly the king got a prisoner to agree to be lowered in the pit. They lowered him down by rope and when they got pretty far down but not all the way down he started screaming and shaking the rope. When they pulled him back up he said he would rather face any punishment on earth you could give him rather than spend any more time down there. By the way the prisoner was a young man in his early 20s who was convicted of murder. It was said that when they pulled him up he aged 50+ years. He was only in the hole for a little over 5 minutes and when they pulled him back up he was a 70 year old man. I don't know if the story is true but it's a pretty good one.
It would be cool to actually go there sometime!
