The Russian pilots & their aircraft are cool! and the those cabin staff girls look real good! friendly people by the looks of it, I would love to one day get the chance to travel from here in Australia over to Russia & sample some of their aircraft and country!
It's awesome to see it's so similar to A320 or B737 cockpit, I've never been in TU-204 and I think after a few minutes I would be able to fly it (with help, of course). Only thing that is crazy is everything is in meters and kilometers, but then I notices there were some gauges in knots, so maybe you can switch it somewhere :-) But cool plane! :-)
The flight deck may not be upto western standards, but as far as I can see there's nothing lacking at all, its all just not as fancy as western airlines are used to. Very good video!

Russian airlines (Russian owned) still operate as they did in the Soviet era to provide work for the entire team. However, jets operated in the outside Russia are flown by two person only. It will take them (in Russia) some time to resolved the job security. Until then I believe they will operate that way although some of the other airlines in Russia and CIS have begun to fly as we do. The evolution of the aircraft manufacturing industry in great and I love them all.
older western airliners also had an engineer's seat for engine controls. Then they decided to save money and moved the consoles to usually above the pilot's heads and add that job to the pilots tasks.
this is a two pilot plane. at is flown by 2 most of the time as eel as most planes in service in russia - both newer russian build and foreign. The third one looks like an instructor - i've heard him making remarks to the other about being too late on deploying flaps
+Joseph Grannum , a little correction. Russia had old rules for "3 man" cockpits and this has since been removed. The 'early' TU 204 had a 3 man cockpit which was quickly eliminated on serial production models. The 3rd man was just to satisfy the rule and completely irrelevant within this particular airframe.
Some Russian airlines are world class quality! I flew S7 and Aeroflot recently on long flights, and I can't complain. The food was good, too. Service? The best.
B727 is equivalent to Tu154 (not to Tu 204). What about their safety? B727 (built 1,832) hull-loss occurrencies -119 (6.49%). Tu154 (built 1,026) hull-loss occurrencies - 69 (6,72%). Both have 6% crash rate. BUT, almost all B727 stopped flying in 2001, and Tu154 is still flying today. Conclusion: Tu154 is safer than B727. P.S. How to calculate: ex 119x100/1832=6.49%.
In a normal TakeOff they are shouting and talking and everyone is saying something,, I wonder how they react in an emergency?? Strile Cockpit is out of the game here.
+Airbus A320 They have different crew management philosophy, but that doesn't mean cockpit is not sterile. Everything they say is related to the departure.
it seems really great .I liked camera angles and quality.First time I see a cockpit of Tu204-100, very interesting,I wonder much more english explanation about cockpit presentation. I don't now maybe it is already, just I'm talking about preview in here.
Russians are amazing in engineering. simplicity, effectiveness and reliability .. this cockpit is really silent and the sky blue color for the panels is much more comfortable than grey or light brown color

Just speaking clearly and loudly. Probably ex-military. Just watch the very end, when the Cap says "Welcome to Moscow, Vnukovo airport. See y'all!". Same tone of voice and smiling. For the most part we actually talk really quiet, compared to, say Americans. Being loud is considered very offensive, except on the job or when celebrating. Then we cuss lots and talk loud (These guys didn't cuss at all though). Considered normal. :)
A pity Red Wings got shut down. I got to sit in a Cubana TU-204 today. It was the first I got to sit in a Russian airliner. Interesting design philosophy. The crew was wonderful.
Agree with you the problem with the tupolev record is that many Tu-154 were active many years later as airliners when they where supposed to be retired.
There are versions of the 204 available that are setup with a two-man flight deck. The Russians may ask why the rest of aviation world insists on using such an antiquated measurement system such as knots and feet.
Really clean looking instrument panel, roomy cockpit. I believe Red Wings went out of business absorbed by Aeroflot. Aeroflot must have the largest number of aircraft types of any world carrier with the many mergers. Russian aircraft don't usually have much cabin baggage space, this 204 has the typical larger overhead bins while being very roomy overall. Nice video, and Yes, I also think the flight attendant is a great looking lady
Are those attitude indicators of the western type? Since I've read traditionally Russian/Soviet aircraft feature a different style of AI in which the horizon indicator is fixed while the plane icon moves as opposed to Western practive of the opposite.
