I've installed 3 of these. No major issues at all. All 3 went in easily. One of them was in a major accident and the airbag functioned as designed. I am very happy to now have a drivers side grab handle that should have came that way from the factory!
Just installed mine. Got it for Christmas. Been cold in Vermont. Nice weather finally. Took about twenty minutes to install. But, it was second attempt. Used a nut driver this time to get the upper bolt started and mostly tightened. Not too bad. Had to call company up get replacement bolt hole covers as one broke during installation. They seem to be the week part of the package.
That clip was a pain I ended up tapping it in place and utting the hole in the tape I guess it's the angle I saw these well lights for the floor but you have to take that pillar and handle off that's where the dome light wires are and it makes them come on with the door open and stays on until the other lights go off.i always wanted to ask you if the unicorn had a lighted ring around the ignition if you used keys that's a cool little extra even when the lights are on it's dark behind the wheel and that lighted ring keeps me from scratching things when I go out on a dark morning.
Why didn't you just squeeze that gold clip before you put it in place with a heavy pair of pliers in order to reduce its gap so it fits tighter and stays in position while lined up with the factory hole?
@@RobMotive I was thinking of a large electrical plier with a flat large face so it lays flush at least on one side of the clip, applying even pressure.
So what happens if or when that air bag deploys due to an accident with that handle and the extra screw installed? I hope it doesn’t become a projectile. Not hating … Just pondering 🤷♂️
I still don't understand and wonder why Toyota decided to have grab handles on all the passenger doors, but NOT on the drivers door! (Handles should be standard on all the doors on a truck!) I'm 6' 1" and can get in the drivers side with no problem. But it's a chore stepping in for the wife, or anyone 5' 4" and under if they need to get in from the drivers side to drive the truck! (even with running boards!) I Love my Taco, but that's a fail on Toyota, in my opinion!

A while back I tapped the rear bumper of my jeep with the rear bumper of my truck slightly and it collapsed the passenger side bumper there right into the fender. Have you ever run into this before or had Toyota friends and heard this and if so, would you be able to tell me how to fix this, not necessarily in full detail, but basically just what needs to be done. Can I put a hook on it and pull it out? Any information will be greatly appreciated.:-) Thank you, Donna from Hebron Ohio

V2 is still a ROYAL pain to screw in. Wow. There's no improvement in having to get the angle just right. QUESTION: Even when very tightly installed, do you find the grab handle wiggles a bit (especially compared to the driver's side)?
@@RobMotive I triple checked it and disassembled it so many times. It was flush, but the problem was the A pillar is more flexible (than V2) and that small screw (not a bolt) just can't hold it. I ordered a V1 and just installed it. It actually was much easier than V2 (thanks to your tips), and it's ROCK solid. I love this thing now. I cannot recommend V2. It's just poorly designed. Very happy with my decision to replace V2 with V1. SO much better.
BTW, they already have V2 on the site. It uses a rivet gun and rivet nut instead of that clip you had to tape up. Also looks like the little covers now have little tabs to hold them in place when they are not snapped in.
I purchased this last year. The only problem I have had is the caps won't stay in. I love the product but can't stand the fact the caps won't star in. I have even tried double sided tape. They still don't stay in.
I installed Vled 6k footwell lighting, had to access the same pillar to attach the connection within so all interior lighting work in conjunction. Not much space in there to work with.
Everything on that handle went really well for me even that bracket only took me two attempts my problem was the covers both of them they just kept popping out I finally got so sick of it that I glued them in the tape is a much better idea but I just got disgusted and now it's impossible to get them out and as far as the company goes I got mine in the mail about two weeks after I ordered them then about three month later I got another one and I was charged for it got in touch with them via email and they got right back to right away saying how sorry they where they would send me a new packing slip and credit my debit card well after two weeks no packing slip no nothing 6 attempts to get in touch with them no response finally I sent them back on my own big mistake never got credited and if I hung on to the handles my best friends son bought a brand new pro model I could have given them to him I think I learned my lesson this time rob.
Totally off topic but I don’t know how to search for a topic. The steering wheel in my ‘22 doesn’t telescope very much. I have it all the way out and I’m still reaching. My hand positioning on the steering wheel is uncomfortable. Am I the only one that wishes it telescoped further out?
Putting it back in was the toughest part for me when I ran a cable for a camera. Took me forever (about 20 minutes or so). Other than that, it seems pretty simple.
PRO TIP: For those of you having issues threading in the top bolt, it's a minor alignment issue. On my 2019, the original bolt hole was angled too far upwards. To fix this, you can thread in one of the bolts, and then just apply gentle downward pressure to get the hold to angle slightly downwards to match the new handle. It's just thin sheet metal so it's somewhat pliable.
I put this handle to my Tacoma offroad 2019, and same problem thand you close to 15 minutes juste to put this screw.... engineering problem from this product the angle are not good....

Wouldn't that interfere with the airbag development

You’d think right? But…squeezing it distorts the clip and distorts alignment of the holes making it even more difficult 😬

Depends on your seating position. It lines up with the A-pillar.

Guess I was lucky when I installed mine. Angle of the bottom bolt 🔩 was a bit tough but it went in good the third try.
