I like to think of the Frostjaw as the lunar equivalent to the Nightmare werepig. I imagine it was a rock jaw mutated by the moon.
I agree, he doesn't drop any armour blueprints but his "drop" is quite useful as you can now easily transport the lunar alters
At least Pearl won’t be so lonely as the only constant NPC active on the ocean
I love how Wickerbottom is annoyed with this guy just because he doesn't follow the laws of physics. Nevermind the countless amount of magical creatures, the ice shark is too much for her

This boss looks really cool, an actually usefull addition to the game that feels DST-eque, havent had those in a long time imo

Agree. Alot of new stuff Is gated behind crab king and it feels really bad
I really enjoy this idea of the boss becoming "friendly" either after we fight him or if we do him a solid (and I'm using friendly in huge quotations here) this is kind of what I wish could happen with the nightmare pig, where we rescue him from the shadow creature that's tormenting him and either fight him for one specific set of spoils or trade with him for a different one.
Agreed, maybe killing Werepig could lead to what we normally get while trading leads to some Hamlet inspired ‘pig trading posts’ where you can make more complicated trades and deals with pigs.
Kill frostjaw; maybe get that ice horn on the top of their head that acts like a stronger hambat that ‘thaws’ quicker but can be ‘recharged’ in an icebox

Spyglasses are like that in Shipwrecked and would work fine in DST!
I really like this boss. His design and attitude are great and the fact that it's optional is great too. We haven't had an original optional boss since A New Reign ffs. I'd say the Werepig is semi-necessary due to planar defense when fighting the Inkblight Trio or the Brightshades, and the Eye of Terror is a crossover boss.
Anyway, his attacks look fun and fair, he doesn't have a ludicrous health pool and the rewards are alright. Definitely the best rewards EVER coming from a non-lunar ocean boss. Great work, Klei.

@@limonero8757 The wiki calls it a boss, but it does the same for the Lord of Fruit flies. I suppose it's down to opinion, but I for one do consider it a boss. There's not much separating it from traditional bosses unlike the fruit fly.

I was hoping we could use those little broken iceberglets to make boats with, but they don't seem to last long enough. Also, why does throwing boots into the water make a whirlpool, I'm not sure I understand the logic there.

I do feel like they should at least be a full day or two, maybe even 3 like a dwarf star or something. Plus, they need to be distinguishable.

If you already have an existing world, let's say it was created 2 years ago, do you need to generate a new world to get this island and frostjaw to spawn?
It should retrofit as most of the recent updates have however 2 years is quite a long time ago... Expect some weirdness maybe.

Yes!
Said before and say again Frostjaw is looking like an amazing addition to the boss roster. A unique name generator which will make the encounter more dynamic, the dialogue and even idle animation when staring at them to long just gives Frostjaw character, and a dynamic arena to boot. Not to forget non-modded teleportation to boot! ...boot heh
It's good. It just needs a little bit more love on the NPC side of things though... More unique, ocean-based trades.
I'm a bit sad cuz i thought there's gonna be some new weapon or armor... such a waste of cool looking boos.

The only thing this game is missing are Steam achievements, have you ever thought about adding them? I think that could give the game a purpose.
Their other games have them and even console DS games do so... Not really sure why they haven't ported things yet.
the developers purposely didnt add any because they thought it sort of encourages players to go for achievements rather than exploring things for themselves.
