  • Welcome to my latest RUclips tutorial where I show you how to restore your faded headlights to a renewed factory finish. Using my 2003 Dodge Caravan as an example, I will demonstrate the process using the Simoniz headlight restoration kit.
In this video, you will learn how to clean and restore your headlights permanently. Unlike temporary fixes using bug spray, toothpaste, or baking soda, my method involves wet sanding with a 2000 grit up to 4000 grit sandpaper and using a polishing compound to achieve a super clean and clear renewed finish. No tools are required, but using a dual action polisher can speed up the process.
In the first part of the tutorial, I will show you how to remove the oxidized, yellowing, fading, or discolored layer of plastic on your headlights. I will explain why toothpaste, baking soda, and WD40 are only good for minor and temporary improvements. In the second half of the video, I will demonstrate how to stop headlights from yellowing and getting hazy by following up with a polish or wax for a permanent coating.
Whether you choose Maguire's, Auto Glym products, or another coating option, the choice depends on your budget, how long you plan to keep your car, and how long you want the coating to last.
