I love how Kieran is doing a deep dive on why most anime watchers struggle in social situations while Anthpo just talking about wanting to beat a weeb up
As a Japanese person, listen to this man. The way I’ve been treated by anime watchers is no joke, and the fetishization of Asian people is rampant these days. “Please touch grass.” -Asian people
I mean, anime can be weird and embarrassing, sure, but it’s not all like that. Never sharing an interest out of embarrassment is only gonna make you feel alone in that interest. I think the overall meaning of this video is just to not be weird about liking anime or terminally online. Maybe people don’t share your interest, but other people will. Again, if you aren’t overly obsessive and creepy, liking anime is fine.
Don't have to hide it hide it, but avoid talking about it. unless the situation calls for it. NEVER bring it up yourself unless its for a joke or situation where you're absolutely confident your point will come across and you can also move on from the topic quickly.
If an anime watcher wishes to assimilate to the main society and none of these tips work, do what I did: watch so much anime to the point you burnout and the act of watching anything else is tiresome so you'd be forced to do other things. Like reading. Manga.
We're at a turning point in anime culture where it's more popular than ever to watch anime, but it also means that there are even more people on social media with no boundaries and no shame that take it way too seriously and were probably asked to leave the Mile-High Club after it was discovered that they sucked _themself_ off in the airplane bathroom.
Anthony, I think the reason no one showed up to your AA meeting is that you put posters up around campus. Those really struggling aren't getting outside enough to see them.

5:23 the “Italian media” is life is beautiful . One of the best movies I have ever watched. It’s about this Jewish family and their town gets taken over by nazis in WW2 so now the father has to make sure his son doesn’t know that they are slaves and are going to be killed by making it all look like a game. 10/10 movies go watch it saddest ending in a movie ever.
I just noticed that the music at 8:38 is from Fullmetal Alchemist: brotherhood (maybe the original show too I haven’t watched that one). Noticing that I recognized music from an anime, I now realize that I have a problem and should listen to your advice.
How to be normal: (gets stuck in traffic) (work at an office job; bored out of your mind) "Coming to bed, honey?" "Yes, dear" I'm just an anime watcher, the only one I've watched for a long time is Pokémon because from jelly doughnuts to Team Rocket's fourth wall breaks and Ash staying 10 forever...there's no denying that anime is special.
Zillenial here! When I was younger I didn't tell people I watched anime to avoid being ridiculed lol but now I'm comfortable with myself and also have the option to not have the haters in my life since I'm not stuck in school so anime is more normalized now because people are encouraged to be their authentic selves.
Kieran's take at 3:26 is so accurate though. For me it wasn't because of Avatar (because I'm basically a child born the same year season 1 was released). I had just heard many many many good things about a certain show and I watched it the whole way through, loved it, watched a similar show next, then started Jojo, got bored of it, then kinda stopped watching so much anime. In those few months I was definitely a weeb, but I like to think I've demoted back down to Casual Viewer. It's been a few months for me as the last one I watched was Attack on Titan, but only the one's on Netflix. I got so sad I stopped watching shows because I don't wanna see more bad stuff happen to the characters.
I’m a Japanese major because I started watching anime but I think a big difference between being a weeaboo and being someone who’s interested in culture and language is educating yourself. I think it’s important to know about the culture you’re watching, and attempt to understand some of the aspects of daily life there. Doesn’t matter if it’s japanese or Australian, literally any culture you have an interest in, just fucking learn about it.
I personally have been watching anime for a little over a year and have watched over 36 anime, however I haven't watched anime in like 9 months because I've realized how cringe people who watch anime are (including myself). I've not really been directly judged for it but if you have watched at least a little anime you would know the shame/embarrassment that tags a long with it. And with that I would like to say I found this video inspiring and monumental and ground breaking, and I hope 10000 years in the future, the new generations learn and grow from this informative video. P.S cAn We gEt MutCh hiGhEr
the thing i disagree with here is thinking that japanese animation being the only form of foreign media one consumes is weird. some people have a niche preference and thats cool. i also think that theres an exaggeration of how many "too far deep" people there are. i live in a pretty dense city, and im in some pretty nerdy circles. have yet to run into more than a small handful of people who were obsessive and obstructive about their interest, but they had other social issues as well, so it wasn't really animes fault. it's just another hobby/interest/genre, there isn't anything about it that would make obsessing over it any weirder than obsessing over a different hobby/interest/genre
I’m actually the guy in your thumbnail. I honestly did it as a joke considering the bad spelling. The room not so much a joke. I been a fan of anime since the early 90s and it’s an on and off passion for me. Anyways great video keep up great work.
I think it's okay to have fun and be excited about anime, and make dumb jokes with your friends. There's nothing wrong with that. It's only problematic if you're insensitive to other people, and that could be said about anything. I think a lot of people find community and friends through anime, and that's really special :)
12:13 I love the contrast of what they're talking about and me being like: Hell yeah I recognize that soundtrack! (Kaguya-sama "Kamatoto" if anybody wants to know)
I'm just like Anthony and constantly say no to have watched any anime because I am really embarrassed and it's weird and I need to seem normal. I've really watched like 3.
Prepare for a paragraph, didn't meant to write this much: As someone who started watching anime when I was 9 (and turn 22 this month), way back when it was pretty much taboo to be an anime watcher, I assure you that the climate has become a lot warmer for the anime watcher community. Compared to the early 2010s and prior, anime can pretty much be considered popular now. A lot more people watch anime than you'd think, and not everyone who watches anime is cringe and looked down on. I used to keep the fact that I watched anime a secret as much as possible as well, but these days, I'm more than happy to tell anyone that I watch anime, and I never get bad reception for it. People these days understand. If you've only seen like 3, there is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed. I've seen like 300, so I reckon I have enough experience to be a spokesperson for the treatment of anime watchers (though I'm undeniably a huge weeaboo and have no problem admitting that). Honestly, as long as you can have conversations about things other than anime, don't wear cat ears out in public, and don't start throwing random Japanese words into your conversations, you're fine lol. THAT is cringe. Watching anime normally is just another hobby, otherwise. Please don't be embarrassed to enjoy something that's become so normal in this day and age.
I used to watch anime and then my sister started watching it and it was all she talked about. I realized how ridiculous she sounded when she talked and so I stopped watching it and completely transformed into an aesthetic fashion Pinterest girl…expect there was one issue, I could never let go of the beautiful yet horrific disease that anime is. I can proudly say that I have watched every single anime that has ever been created. Like even more than the anime kids at my school. Yet every time I hear my sister, friends or classmates talking about it or sometimes even explaining it to me, the one who should really be explaining is me. I have somehow managed to convince every single person I know that I am the complete opposite of a weeb, yet that is exactly what I am when the sun goes down and I am all alone in my room with my computer. Well whatever. Anyway, that is my story. Anime is the one thing that gives me comfort, it is the reason I wake up and live through the day so I can then come home and watch it comfortably in my room every night. I truly treasure it so, so much and maybe that’s why I don’t want anyone knowing that I watch anime, because it is the very last layer of the onion in my heart. I don’t want people to get close and I have major trust issues due to things happening throughout my childhood. The strange thing is that I actually look like an aesthetic Pinterest girly and play the part as well. The only time I get to be my true self is when I watch anime and analyze it in my head and pretend like I’m doing a review in my mind and just random idiotic things. Well yea that’s basically it thanks for sticking around. If you know me…well you don’t, and if you dont, make sure it stays that way. Yea I just revealed my ultimate top secret to a bunch of strangers. How fun!
Me too tbh for some reason I got emotionally attached to anime which is probably why I got so upset when it started trending and everyone started becoming a "weeb" because I realised that loving anime wasn't a personality trait now I'm trying hard to stop watching it and letting it take over my way of life. I also used to be jealous of people who didn't seem like/look like they watched anime but were undercover weebs because they were able to like it without it taking over them. I think it ruined my life but I don't regret it because its still one of the best things Iver ever watched but I still want to stray away from it and throw all my manga. I also have bad social skills so you can tell how badly I've turned out almost like an "otaku". I also suspect that I'm autistic? I was already a quiet introvert before I got into anime at 11 but I just know I probably could of been better if I didn't have an anime phase. If someone ever asks me if I watch anime I'll just feel like saying "no" but unfortunately all my super close friends and cousins know I watch it... at one point I was called "anime girl" in class because I heard one popular guy talk about anime and I tried to join the convo. Obviously I couldn't properly because I was weird and he was popular. I also used to have a drawing obsession which was mostly anime. I think being the "weird kid" made this feeling worse. It's probably why I got weirded out finding out that super cool people like A list celebs could also love anime it's probably a strange insecurity. Still I think anime ruined my life and I want to detach from it completely.
When anthpo said JoJos puts you immediately in the weeb category, my parents actually called me and said they’re disowning me and giving everything to their other, non-anime-watching sons
This is the reason I say "No!" sometimes when a random weeb ask me if I watch a certain anime they like on conventions. they went crazy when you don't like their favorite anime or call that anime weird AF. I will never forget "Toycon 2015" here in my country the Philippines. I did say that on Deathnote skit quite sucks during the cosplay competittion and those fans went ballistic. It is a pretty wild experience tbh.
Garnt has hit a number of anime watched to the point that he doesn't waste time on anime anymore unless he knows it's completed and that it's worth watching. I've been there.
I have never, EVER watched anime. Yes, I *have* seen and watched clips of it but never a full episode. And let's just say that, I feel like I'm in a friend group and I'm the only one that isn't doing drugs

Finally a perfect tutorial
8:15 bro i was framed i swear
Tell them about all those bodypillows you got- Shyag
I love the poster that says I Eat Kids in the background of the first skit. A subtle but welcome Gravity Falls reference
The poster has Bertram from Jessie on it💀
im so glad someone is finally telling anime watchers how to be normal
How to be normal:
(gets stuck in traffic)
(work at an office job; bored out of your mind)
"Coming to bed, honey?"
"Yes, dear"
I'm just an anime watcher, the only one I've watched for a long time is Pokémon because from jelly doughnuts to Team Rocket's fourth wall breaks and Ash staying 10 forever...there's no denying that anime is special.
One of my favorite SpongeBob scenes lol
I ain't read’in all dat
@@SteveHartford I appreciate the input.
thank u for making this public again
i need more anthpo content to consume
Holy shit I remember your channel now. You did the Yoshi stuff and I kinda forgor. Glad to see you're still making content.
THE EMOTIONAL MIRAI NIKKI SONG PLAYING IN THE BACK 💀
After watching these super helpful tips, I went and watched some anime! Thanks Anthpo!
Gonna send this to my anime watching friends in hopes they can join the rest of us. Thank you Anthpo for helping them.
Craziest part of this vid is that it’s actually kinda educational lol
kieran explained perfectly how quarantine weebs were made thanks kieran
the thing i disagree with here is thinking that japanese animation being the only form of foreign media one consumes is weird. some people have a niche preference and thats cool. i also think that theres an exaggeration of how many "too far deep" people there are. i live in a pretty dense city, and im in some pretty nerdy circles. have yet to run into more than a small handful of people who were obsessive and obstructive about their interest, but they had other social issues as well, so it wasn't really animes fault.
it's just another hobby/interest/genre, there isn't anything about it that would make obsessing over it any weirder than obsessing over a different hobby/interest/genre
I watch a huge ton of anime, yet I am normal in society.
Just do the weird shit when no one is looking.
The last party i went to, i was explaining evangelion lore to like 4 guys all at once… I have made some serious mistakes in my life
Well you see there's this organization called seele who oversee nerv. Seele wants to cause orange goop.
This the same guy who played in a volleyball tournament in Haikyuu uniforms
why is this an national geographic documentry of anime
I’m actually the guy in your thumbnail. I honestly did it as a joke considering the bad spelling. The room not so much a joke. I been a fan of anime since the early 90s and it’s an on and off passion for me. Anyways great video keep up great work.
Thank you Anthony, this has really helped me come to terms with the fact that anime isn’t real
I love how even Kieran didn’t show up for AA.
4:36 the correct option is to runaway
"I may have been a bit harsh and I also kicked her out of the meeting"
This man is a goldmine
Anthpo- asks how to stop watching anime
James- recommends anime
Task failed...
no but that ad transition was smooth as heck
James straight up instantly became my favorite character in the Anthpo Cinematic Universe xD
I've watched Avatar 3 times since 2020 but I'm so happy I avoided the ditch in the ground to that black hole of binge watching shows.
"yeah i love greys anatomy" LMAO
I dont watch anime but finding a video on anthpos channel teaching me social skills is the best gift ever, i will now use these to be more social
(Kaguya-sama "Kamatoto" if anybody wants to know)
これはとっても大切なものです。
アニメが私の人生に重荷を負った、この動画に本当にありがとうございました
さ、普通へなっています
あえあaええぇhえeehえあぁあaAaah, agh, god, ow.
Okay yeah I'm normal now, anyway yeah great video!
Even with just that lil clip at the end, I can't help it, man. I love Janice, she's such a dork.
I'm just like Anthony and constantly say no to have watched any anime because I am really embarrassed and it's weird and I need to seem normal. I've really watched like 3.
Prepare for a paragraph, didn't meant to write this much:
As someone who started watching anime when I was 9 (and turn 22 this month), way back when it was pretty much taboo to be an anime watcher, I assure you that the climate has become a lot warmer for the anime watcher community.
How fun!
Holy fuck
Honestly that’s cool af and I aspire to be you
Me too tbh for some reason I got emotionally attached to anime which is probably why I got so upset when it started trending and everyone started becoming a "weeb" because I realised that loving anime wasn't a personality trait now I'm trying hard to stop watching it and letting it take over my way of life.
Never thought I’d see anthpo talk about gigguk
Anthpo gave us 4 tips but all I want is his tip
💀
So real 💗
When anthpo said JoJos puts you immediately in the weeb category, my parents actually called me and said they’re disowning me and giving everything to their other, non-anime-watching sons
the switch having two left joycons is so avant-garde anthpo is really out here changing the game
anthpo is korean, chinese AND white, simultaneously. what an awesome guy
An interesting "deep dive" video would be trying to figure out why Filthyfrank's take on weebs was so much better than this and he wasn't even trying
Your content is always entertaining tyyy for my daily dose of serotonin
using this as a reverse guide so less people talk to me! thanks anthpo!
…
Im currently sewing a Tanjirou cosplay robe to wear in everyday life…
Uh oh
This is the reason I say "No!" sometimes when a random weeb ask me if I watch a certain anime they like on conventions.
they went crazy when you don't like their favorite anime or call that anime weird AF.
I will never forget "Toycon 2015" here in my country the Philippines. I did say that on Deathnote skit quite sucks during the cosplay competittion and those fans went ballistic. It is a pretty wild experience tbh.
the fact that anthony thinks he's watched more anime than garnt 💀
while saying that only weebs watch Made in Abyss :D
Garnt has hit a number of anime watched to the point that he doesn't waste time on anime anymore unless he knows it's completed and that it's worth watching. I've been there.
Watch a new anime every time that guy says like
I have never, EVER watched anime. Yes, I *have* seen and watched clips of it but never a full episode. And let's just say that, I feel like I'm in a friend group and I'm the only one that isn't doing drugs
My takeaway is Anthony met the anime zone and fumbled it
