I've had great luck in the past contacting the manufacturer and asking after replacement parts when I have lost or broken something. I've never done so with Trumpeter, but Tamiya and Warlord were both super nice and sent me parts quickly for free when I've had to ask. Fun build! I'm not jonesing to see *this* model painted, but I would like to see you paint a tank again soon. :)
This is without a doubt my favorite 1/700 kit, since I'm a huge Liberty Ship fan. Note that the cowl vents can be pointed in any direction you like since they would be turned into or out of the wind, depending on the need. Ignore the color guide for a WWII scheme since the red anti-foul pain only went up to the 10' load line (very low on the hull) and there was no black boot topping. Great kit to add heavy weathering and deck cargo to bring the model to life.
I visited the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien (sister ship of this one) in San Francisco over 20 years ago. The thing I remember most was how large and empty the engine room was compared with the engine room of a warship like HMS Belfast.
I built this kit & went onboard for an 8 hr. trip on her down the Chesapeake, out of Baltimore. Do it if you can !! I also built a 1:700 BB-62 USS NEW JESREY & was aboard her 10 times. As well as built and was on USS OLYMPIA. I think that's unique- it's not often you can build a kit of a vessel as well as visit her.... Keeps me outta trouble, eh ? 🚬😎👍
The smaller guns in the gun tubs a 20 mm anti-aircraft gun's. The larger guns in other gun tubs are 3 inch 50 caliber guns. The largest gun is a open five inch gun. The cowl vent ventilators can be rotated in the direction the wind is blowing so they catch the breeze so as to give the ship ventilation.... That which you call a life boat crane is called a boom style Davit. That what you call a wall for the captain to lean on in the front of the superstructure is a flag bag locker. It is where the ships signal flags are located that are flown from the mast
Nice to see a ship build. I must admit I enjoyed building this kit too, just wish there were more kits representing merchant ships from the era. You appeased both the Glue god and the Carpet Monster!!.
You could make the guns pointing at each other. This way the crew can solve any argument finaly.
Looks like a great little ship, the parts are real fine and clean produced.

I’ve been eyeballing this kit for some time now. It’s clearly a sign that I need to finally build it

hi veritas, for a ship model like this is it possible to paint it after all assembly is complete? thanks
@@adolfhilter yeah, but if you really want to paint the really small details, like the doors and such, I suggest painting in sections/parts
nice, and good timing as need to get a couple to game with
