    I went catfishing recently and I used hotdogs instead of the traditional baits (stink baits, chicken liver etc.). I found that the hot dogs actually outperformed the other baits. It was particularly effective on Channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus).

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад

      That is great, fishing with passion. I have used Hot Dogs for Catfish as well! They do work awesomely! Next time you should try ivory soap -- another weird item that works too well. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!

    I think that 'lane' snapper may actually be a mahogany snapper. They are extremely hard to tell apart, so I am not completely sure...

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад +1

      I appreciate the input, TheMasterCasters. I can tell you right away that there are a lot of photos on the Internet that are wrong when it comes to their identification of Mahogany Snapper (_Lutjanus mahogany_) and Lane Snapper (_Lutjanus synagrys_). I will get on my identification books and see what are the main differences between them; however, I am almost positive that the snapper in the video were Lane Snapper -- mainly due to the compression length of their bodies. Tight lines and thanks for watching!

    • @TheMasterCaster

      Oh cool thanks I've been interested by mahogany snapper. To tell the truth, I didn't even know they existed until 2 days ago lol.

    When puffers inflate do they start floating?

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад

      If they are inflated with air, they should float on water. However, as soon as they hit water, they usually de-inflate. Tight lines and thanks for watching!

  • @randymarsh6527
    @randymarsh6527 8 лет назад

    Leo, quick question.. I have a few of those diawa blue combos you have, what pound braid do you use on them? or do you change the reel out when you use the rod.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад

      I used to use the Daiwa Samurai combos in the past, Snapper. Still used them sometimes nowadays. For the price of the reel, they are amazing! But they tend to break fast when you start catching bigger fish on them. I tend to go 4-12lbs test line on them, maximum. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!

      If you were fishing from the surf, then it is a whole different story, Fish_ Slaying. Depending on the waves and stuff, you just need to make sure that your rig gets a hold there. Then, you should be good to catch some fish! Tight lines and thanks for watching!

    Your father got a Schoolmaster, one of the best eating snappers in the atlantic.

      Thank you very much for your input, Lucas. There was another Schoolmaster Snapper (_Lutjanus apodus_) later in the video. A new Species for me too! Tight lines and thanks for watching!

      If you get a similar snapper with an Isosceles triangle pointing directly upwards to the eye, know that you have a dog snapper (Lutjanus jocu), just an easy identification tip that many people forget to mention.

    At 6:27 ...I wonder if that fish ended up with a concussion from the faceplant with the big rock. Awesome videos, tell your dad he needs to start a YT channel called "Life as Leo's 父亲 " (If last word is wrong we need to blame Google Translate hehe. Keep the worm wet...Also the puffer around the 9:50 mark was definitely a LOT weird with the fluid and teeth and sounds

      Joseph Park P.E.T.A is a non-profit organization that help protect animal rights. They are known to take matters to their own hands by exposing other organizations for harming animals, such as product test facilities. They can be dangerous and will sometimes blow up these laboratories, facilities or possibly even raid them.

    I wish leo put a huge chunk of squid on the hook and casted super far for bigger fish

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад

      Even if I put a huge chunk of squid out there, the little fishes would eat that up in no time whatsoever, pro fisherman spanser. Haha. But seriously now -- I get what you are saying. As I have mentioned in the video, I did live line some fish that day; however, I ended up catching nothing big. Next video will have some bigger fish in it for sure. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 лет назад +2

      That Southern Puffer (_Sphoeroides nephelus_) inflated himself with half air and half water, Cookie Bruh. Haha. Usually, they inflate using air or water! Most of them inflate themselves when they are out of the water; thus, they use air. That one did half and half. Hahaha. Super weird! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
