[Hidden Charms of Korea: Namhae] Jukbangnyeom Fishing Facility at Jijok Strait/남해 지족해협 죽방렴

Jukbangnyeom is a traditional method to catch fish by setting up a V-shaped bamboo screen trap with 300 oak stakes each 10 m long going against the tide.
The method uses seawater flows at the relatively rapid speed of 13-15 km per hour to gather fish in a cylindrical bamboo trap.
죽방렴 길이 10m 정도의 참나무 말목 300여 개를 갯벌에 박고 대나무발을 조류가 흐르는 방향과 거꾸로해서 v자로 벌려두는 원시어업이다.
시속 13~15km의 빠른 유속으로 인해 물고기들이 원통형의 대나무발 속에 모이도록 한 포획 방식이다.
