ngl when it hits, it hits. i managed to hit +5 level to socketed (+2 aura, +2 socketed, +1 int gems, +1 strgth gems) on a 250 es base. low rolled % increased energy shield but was still a 20 dv cost for a 80 dv helmet.
I am so mad he slammed a random mod instead of doing multimod prefix lock. Deserved to hit off attack speed for that one imo, literally this entire craft was carried by omega rng. Yes I'm salty let me weep in my 5 div

When woolie uses the veiled orb it would then have had better odds of leaving a crafted modifier on, since there would've been 2 crafted modifiers instead of the 1 he had in the video

this is actually the reason i stopped playing, they sell you lies, by giving free rewards to streamer giving them crazy rng when they think it will promote the game, this is the same strategy as online casinos, except the currency is your time will woolie delete that comment like my previous one? only the future will tell.

.2% chance is not an average of 500 rolls. This is not how probability works. Craftofexile will display this if you look at it's probabilities.
It's 2300 rolls for a 99% chance to hit something weighted at .2%
nah, you only need about 1000 roll to hit that T1 lightning flat cuz essence craft has removed the possibility of getting any flat of that type

instead of slamming before the veiled orb, craft multimod + prefix cannot be changed to take your odds of success to 66% without having a potentially dead mod after.
I know it was just a slip in the moment (your math terminology otherwise is right) but a "90th percentile roll" by definition is the top 10% of rolls, so ~10% chance with even distribution
90-100 roll = ~78.5th percentile (11/51 rolls, about 21.5% chance)
96-100 roll = ~90th percentile (6/51 rolls, about 9.803% chance)

I don't think anyone was assuming he was talking about the 90th percentile (being 95%) but rather 90%+ which he is correct, 20% chance to hit 90%+ when the start is 50%. To hit 95% (the 90th percentile) it would indeed be around 1/10
did you know the community used to not know that prefixes cannot be changed worked with rerolling. people made huge mirrors before it leaked.
iirc a dev even came out on reddit and said in no uncertain terms that metamods do not work with scours, and was wrong also
at 08:13 if your goal is just to go for the veil in the end here, multimod prefix cannot be changed, this way you dont risk having a bad suffix if you remove prefix cannot be changed and can still do "remove a crafted modifier" and craft your final suffix
or if you want to spam exalt slam on the suffix, cannot roll attack also protects all attack modifiers. so you can annul with this mod on it and slam again after

You briefly mentioned it but I think one of the biggest secrets to cleaning items is knowing annuls respecting "cannot roll" modifiers as it is ROLLING the item. A lot of people think "oh man my suffixes are bad I'm fucked" while they have an empty suffix, but you can just roll the 50/50 and either annul off the craft, or the actual mod you want while your caster or attack mods are safe.. its so broken considering most end-game setups are just multi-modding anyways

More information about the update stats when using RV or RVoB:
relevant stats to RV & RVoB can be related either to the attacks themselves or to the hits of the attacks. Eg: critical strike chance is related to the attack but accuracy, damage and critical strike damage and attack speed are related to the hits that the attack produce. What does it mean ?
Let's say that I have 0 to 200 PD weapon (avg 100%), attack speed of 1 (with RV and RVoB multiplier of 70% included), 0% increased damage, 100% critical strike multiplier (with base 50% included) and 80% accuracy and 90% crit chance.
I start an RV or RVoB attack.
Crit is rolled for the whole attack (same behaviour as repeated attacks). Also checked at that moment are exert effects (which last for the whole attack. Note that they are incompatible with repeats) (including, double damage for IntCry, a SINGLE combust from InferCry, additional base crit chance from Ambush OR BattleMCry, more damage per ally from RallyCry, additional crit multi from Ambush) and other buff effects such as Phase Run more Phys %.
2 possibilities:
10% chance that the ATTACK will never crit
90% chance that the ATTACK can crit (evasion needs to be taken into account twice to confirm that the HIT crit)
Once the attack has started, those stats will persist.
I'm not exactly sure when attack speed is updated (every server ticks ? every other server ticks ?) but it is continuously updated. Also, those updates check if you have changed your weapons, which can change your damage if they do not have the same DPS, or even cancel the vortex if it is not a sword or an axe.
When you hit an enemy, the following happens:
check for evasion and "crit evasion":
the HIT has 80% chance to hit
the HIT has 80% chance to crit (if the 1st evasion check pass)
a roll for damage between 0 and 200 is done
crit damage is applied if the ATTACK is a crit and the HIT does not miss and the HIT crits
additional conditional damage modifiers for HITS or NEARBY are taken into account at that step ("chance to ignite", "when hitting a unique enemy", "when in the presence of ...", "Nearby Enemies have Lightning Resistance equal to yours", ...). Among those modifiers there is the buff effect (not the exert) of InfCry (additional phys as fire) AND the effects of Rage (which is why you can feel a spike in damage if you use Berserk in the middle of the "duration" of your RV or RVoB)
Finally, "Ragestorm Hits 250% more Frequently" is an ATTACK modifier, which applies only to the vortex and not to the initial attack. It acts like an action speed modifier: "Ragestorm Action speed is 350% of your base Action speed". Note that this made up modifier use the keyword "is" which is rarely used and denotes that nothing can change that value, including Freeze. Currently, there is no real "Action Speed is" modifier in the game. The closest is "is at least" from Trickster's "One Step Ahead"
When you applied the Veiled orb, coudl you have used cannot roll attack mods instead to have only the mana/craft mods targetable?

8:20 you shouldn't exalt it because if veiled orb hits preflock you have dead suffix. You should do Multimod+preflock (more expensive but wont break your weapon)
On the veiled orb step I would have crafted can have 3 crafted mods and then prefix lock, then veiled orb, nice craft tho

well they probably do alter the RNG for streamers for marketing purposes, but I can tell you that on a roll for an item to get between 50%-100% increased damage, all possible outcomes are NOT weighted equally, as seems to be the claim being put forward. it is highly skewed to the higher outcomes, i.e. you have a higher chance of getting somewhere between 90-100% than you would to get a low roll of between 50-60%. so still a very lucky roll to get the absolute maximum, but not a "2% chance" by a longshot

Funny story: First ever time I played POE I stumbled into the Dual Dagger build, slapped Elemental Slash (I think that's what it's called), and at lvl 30 or 40 had 12k dps on specifically the fire type attack of the skill. *And it's spammable*. *AND you can force one of the elements to not show up*.
Elemental hit + combat focus jewels was a good time back in the day

i know im late but i think you could've crafted "cannot roll attack mods" before slamming the veiled orb and it wouldn't have removed neither the damage rolls nor the attack speed as all of them have the attack tag and you would've spent 1 divine less and not having the mana per enemy killed

at 9:11 you could have crafted "cannot roll attack mods" for a 50/50 to either remove the craft or mana on kill, that way you cannot lose the attack speed. Also it costs only 1 div instead of 2 for prefix cannot change

Well because it is in fact way more difficult. Poe tree is very simple once you get into it, but craft... i've been playing almost since beta and still have to read craft guides and experiment in Craft of exile to get things done right.
And just a few years back people were burning eternal orbs just to get 1k pdps 2h axes

it's fractured, meaning it can never be removed from the item. fractured items are very rare to come across and ESPECIALLY rare to get on a good base type (and have a good roll of that modifier!), so they tend to be quite expensive.
I bought my sword with that fractured mod for 4 divines and it's a tier2 roll - tier1 rolls cost 20+ div

its 2480 base damage. aka it gets multiplied by everything.
you do 2480 damage. then that gets increased by lets say 1000% increased damage. 24800. then that gets multiplied by your multipliers so you do 24800 x like 5.0 dealing 124000. not technically how it works since multipliers multiply multipliers. which is how we get that insane amount of damage would be more like 248 + 1000% x 1.2 x 1.3 x 1.2 ext ext but you get the gist
just as an example.
remember the difference between,
flat.
increased.
multiplied.
there are the most important things to know what they do.
all are important.
flat is damage its what you will be doing with it. no matter how high your increases and multipliers are. will do nothing. you would do like 50 damage base with your punches
increases and important as they are higher numbers then something like mult. and get multiplied by your mult
