    I like your video, MedVise. I've recently been diagnosed with COPD. And told by my physician it doesn't go away. He gave me a two-week sample of Anoro/Ellipta. It seems to work. No wheezing, coughing. Score one for chemistry.

    Great video I just want to add that you should breathe in much deeper while inhaling the medication and hold your breathe for up to 10 seconds (if you can). I can also taste/feel the medication so some do. Thanks again!

    Thanks. The instructions for doing this are maddeningly ambiguous and I'm not sure you have entirely solved it. The big question for me is as to whether the vent should be facing down and, if it is, would powder be lost? The patient leaflet shows it facing up, but you show it facing down. The patient leaflet implies a sort of sleight at hand wherbye the inhaler is twisted to get the vent on top and the counter on the bottom. That is topologiocally impossible as they are on the same side. I saw another video where they obviously made a quick cut to turn the inhaler over. The fact that the leaflet is so shoddy makes me wonder about the chemistry!

    • @MedVize
      @MedVize  5 лет назад +5

      This medication has to be taken every day to be effective. It's not for use only when you need it. You should have a different inhaler for use in emergencies that you would use as needed. But Breo is intended to be used everyday.

    The problem I have with GlaxoSmithKline is this is basically the same combination asthma\copd medication as their Advair which the patent recently expired allowing for other pharmaceutical companies to compete in generic form and eat at their market share. Now enter the new Breo Ellipta so they can continue to get top dollar with only a fraction of the similar medications (Breo has 30 inhaled doses while Advair diskus has 120) and market it to the consumer as a more convent once per day dose yet you’re still paying the same as Advair?

    • @MedVize
      @MedVize  5 лет назад +1

      These are similar but not the same. Advair has Fluticasone and Salmeterol Where as Breo has Fluticasone and Vilanterol. The second drug Vilanterol allows the medication to be once a day now instead of multiple times a day like Advair.

    • @dicklongmire6836
      @dicklongmire6836 5 лет назад +2

      MedVise I'm grateful to have a good job with good health insurance however I am a huge advocate for keeping medication costs down for people without means especially the elderly living on fixed income. While I understand GSK as well as others have programs to assist people without means, still not everyone qualifies. Breo is $350 per one 30 day supply however could have easily reduced the cost by over 40% due to the actual cost of manufacturing and combining these combination medications and yet sill maintain their high profit margin via more accessible sales. I have also read countless reviews on Breo, Advair, Symbicort and Dulera and everyone seems to have different success with each including long term use ineffectiveness resulting in the need to switch brands which is what many seem to experience including myself. Only in the US is the price for drugs like these insanely out of control and unfortunately out of reach for people who really need but cannot afford them.

    • @dicklongmire6836
      @dicklongmire6836 5 лет назад +1

      I also wanted to add that this is a very common and misleading practice among pharmaceutical companies in aeffort to keep top dollar revenue flowing in. Take AstraZeneca's Prilosec and Nexium for example. When the patent ran out on Prilosec, they rushed to release Nexium which is identical in effectiveness and 99.9% in chemical makeup. This time, they pushed and were approved by the FDA to market the drug as a healer of esophagus damage but in reality, all PPI's do the very same thing by reducing the main problem which is acid reflux however through the magic of marketing, it mislead consumers to believe Nexium had added healing powers over other PPIs. It all comes down to the power of slight misleading marketing and pharmaceutical companies are well versed.

    Two other points: the machine is for left handed people? Or the 7 demonstrators I saw are wrongly doing his demos? (and to me is the second hipo. The vent must be positioned down, to avoyd nose humid air. But... the lab is responsible for the misuse? No!) Other observation: some demonstrators point the machine to their tongues. It increases the med loss, or not? Three, all demonstrators use some sort of ID card... Why? To assign they are not actors?

    The "Machine" costs a million, the med probably only a cent. That's 'add value' tactics in action, you silly! Point one, you can't see what you get for your zillion; two, almost half of the dose remains in your mouth, ie is unused; three, you can't controle nothing: the machine owes you, but you pay for it. Zillions!
