I agree with you on the non-turbo engine and CVT. Toyota has continually failed in the “FUN” department when it comes to engines. I had my first CVT in a Nissan Pathfinder and I will never, EVER own another CVT. I love manual but a DCT is the best of both worlds in my opinion.
I mean Toyota offered a TRD and a NASCAR edition Camry. They both have the same lame engine you can buy in a regular Camry. The least they could do is drop a couple of turbos in the thing with a DCT for the markup prices they want for those editions. I can deal with a lot of missing amenities as long as I have a “fun” aspect to the drive. I have a Q50 Red Sport 400 and it misses in a lot of areas but it sure is fun to drive!
I would never buy a vehicle with a nasty turbo or DCT because they're not reliable. The CVT in this Toyota Corolla has a physical first gear which gives it amazing off the line acceleration. 1000 times better than any Nissan CVT.
One of the biggest POS cars I have owned was a brand new 2015 Camry SE! They didn’t even weld the roof skin to the supports during assembly. The seats are made cheaply too. Both of which are made in Georgetown, KY and have relatives working in both plants. Toyota builds uninspired boring vehicles plain and simple. And I used to be an “anti-turbo” guy but once I had one of the newer turbo charged vehicles (Audi A8 4.0tt), I was hooked.
I enjoy watching your videos but this one was disappointing. It's obvious you just wanted to bash on this Corolla and not even give it a chance. This Corolla's CVT has a physical first gear (you said no gears in the video) which makes it feel like a traditional auto. You kept harping on about lack of heated seats but the Corolla XSE comes standard with heated seats. There are many places in the USA where heated seats aren't needed which is why Toyota didn't offer heated seats in lower trims. In Canada, Toyota Corolla comes standard with heated seats even in the base trim because of Canada's extreme cold weather. If you hate CVT so much, just choose the Corolla hatchback with the 6 speed manual. Also FYI, the 2021 Mazda 3 Turbo hatchback can only be paired with the automatic transmission. You can't pair the Mazda turbo with the manual.
I'm waiting for it. 2022 Corolla GR will likely have a 1.6 liter 3 cylinder with 256hp and 266 ft lbs of torque, beefed up suspension, and possibly AWD. It's gonna fly!
No idea why Toyota made the nightshade without a manual but the regular one has it. This hatch is also just too small. I understand its "compact" but make small with big space!

Great point!

More evidence of companies giving us crap we don't want.
Exterior style of this is great. Will be nice if they come out with a GR version. As it is, I would take the Civic hatchback over this.
I agree.

No, I wouldn't sit back there. 🤣🤣
I can do that turn in my 97 2 door tahoe 4x4... lol
My horn does not sound like that!
I bought the 2025 Corolla hatch over the Mazda 3 coz corolla has better suspension, Miles per gallon and Mazda 3 is $3K more expensive.
That's a tight budget you have there. Enjoy your hatch!
Omg no heated seats? Say it ain’t so. WTF? That must be a northern thing.
Yea, I would prefer non heated and lower cost.
