I think he thought the wheels were pointing straight but in fact he was still turning left, which is the angle we would steering after the save, the car got sideways, he corrected, the car griped and he never took the lock off. He might be one of the best in the world but I bet when you used to racing rear wheel drive cars that slide and you have to correct the slide with steering rather than with throttle like in a front wheel drive car you still find it hard
Was there back in 1993. Remember it being a freezing cold and wet day. Imagine an F1 and Indycar champion coming to do a touring car race now? A total moaning and temperamental man, but boy what a Showman!
Wow, just wow. I remember seeing this on TV but I was very young, I don't remember that angle and I *definitely* don't remember the audio. How very scary, to hear him breathe after the recovery, then immediately get himself punted off and the fear as he's heading to the wall... Wow
@TheKartist it was Mansell's fault clearly, he did not watch his mirrors and as very slow car he wanted to get back to racing line very early..you can see that car which punched him out of track blocked its wheels for a short while
tiff knocked mansell off hes not moaning he says "oh no" when he see the solid wall hes about to hit. he was knocked out and red covers where put up around car.
i was there tiff needell caught him he did not hit him mansell had already lost the car he was strugling for breath because the way you sat in a touring car is differant to a single seater (he'd been in indy cars all year) i agree i was bloody freezing that day but a great race

This 93 Toca Shootout Not 94

@karelpipa He was still correcting the car on the track when he was hit, you can see that from the inside.
This is 1993 at Donington Park.
This was 1993, not 94.
@krugerboy Wouldn't you be breathing a bit heavy driving an out of control saloon car at that sort of speed , young or old?
my ribs and neck hurt just watching that

Damn, unlucky. He saves his own spin only to get crashed off by the following car. Driver side impacts are always the worst...
it seems to me he just drove straight into tiffs path
Wasn't he groaning when he got knocked off
