Was a huge fan of OMD in my youth . Went to see them loads of times. Fell out of love with them on the later albums with were very commercial. Dazzleships has remained with me throughout my life and is probably my favourite ever album , work of sheer genius. After hearing the excellent English Electric I have gone back to the first three albums and by god the memories came flooding back. They are sheer works of genius. Very underrated band with such heart and spirit lifting songs.
You're so right on the ignorance front,OMD are so superior to anything around today and don't get the recognition they richly deserve, pure class can never be bettered.
OMD are a *massively* influential band, but unfortunately they're not one of the "chosen ones" in the music press, who like to just endlessly perpetuate Joy Division, the Cure and the like.

when i first bought a copy of enola gay i played this all the time, annex is a great track. then when i got a copy of souvenir i think i played sacred heart more, omd made some great b-sides. check out there navigation b-sides cd.

Simply Mesmeric. Saw OMD live in 1980, Still maintain they are the greatest musical influence on me.

Not really. Still lots of edgy, experimental music in their album tracks and B-sides from the mid 80s.
