    It's the best when you demo using equipment that is identical to what the viewer has on their boat.

      @Toms Toons Pontoon Refurbishing sadly, I discovered one flaw in your teaching that needs a little work. Your happy dance in the pontoon giveaway video was a bit mechanical, but you got a pass for it being a happy dance, which calls for zero technique in itself, also no background music 😉 😂🤣😅

      @@awakenedtotruth8419 I’ll take all the constructive criticism I can get! Don’t worry, we’re nearing 5k subscribers and found an organization to donate the boat to…I’ll do better in that video!

    I bought this exact control last week and brand new out of the box shifter arm wont move. Not hooked up to any cables. Throttle will only move out of neutral if you press the throttle advance button. Any advice/ suggestions?

      You could pull the cover off and see if there's something blocking the shift mechanism inside. Otherwise, it should shift freely in both directions if new out of the box. If it's not something obvious then unfortunately I'd say send it back and get a new one.

    Great video again good idea on pictures can't go wrong a little added thing I do I have alot of small colored zip ties then just match colored zip ties on matching wires then don't have to even go back to photo used to use colored tape zip ties much better

      @tomspontoons  Год назад

      Yes! Zip ties are a great idea. Or painters tape labeled with letters or numbers.

    I need to replace the control box and the center console. My engine is a Johnson / j90plss year 2000. I'm ordering the larger console from Pontoonstuff. Im not confident in pairing new parts for this, any advice?

    • @tomspontoons
      @tomspontoons  Год назад

      Your 90hp Johnson will plug and play with this style control box. This one and the older style binnacle by OMC will fit the large helm from Pontoon Stuff great. Be sure to use my discount code on your order to save some money.

      Yeah make sure you get the one that matches your hole size ? Mine don't, looks like I gotta do some fiberglass work on the counsel to make the hole smaller , or attach a face plate with a smaller hole , I need a fiberglass guy .

    • @tomspontoons
      @tomspontoons  Год назад

      @@MikeSmith-nu9wt I would recommend making a new faceplate either out of aluminum or a UHMW plastic or other marine plastic. Usually a 1/4” plastic plate will work great and look good too. Fiberglass work is getting harder and harder to find!

    How hard is it to move a console from the back to front of boat? Is this expensive to do?

    • @tomspontoons
      @tomspontoons  Год назад +1

      You'll need a longer steering cable, longer shift/throttle cables, and possibly a longer ignition harness or extension. You'd probably have around $500 into those components to make the forward console work.
