Apologizes for the static/hissing if you have the volume turned up. Getting a better quality mic and studio room, so hoping that issue will be fixed in future videos! Also, these are the top 5 discs I "threw" in 2023, not that were released in 2023.
MVP killed it this year no doubt! I feel like discmania has really stepped up their game this year as well! I would love to see you review some of the new discmania and their new plastics! Keep up the great content man!
So glad to see you reviewing other manufacturers now. I’ve always appreciated your review videos, but they were only applicable to the few Discraft molds I was interested in. Looking forward to your videos in 2024!
I agree-crave vs cicada challenge. I used to be a diehard river thrower, but now it’s a turnover disc for me and the crave is my straight fairway driver
The Glitch. I used to have to lay up circle two because I couldn’t reach the basket with a putt but now I throw my glitch right at it knowing a miss wont be that bad. I made so many 40-80’ throw ins last year. I love the Glitch
If you want to try the Sea Otter you can pick up a stable run of Sensei, or a Knife or the Gui, they are all made by Yikun and I have all but the Otter which looks 99% like them all from videos and pictures, the difference is the 2 quarters with texture on the bottom of rhe Gui ;) Still working to learn my Stig so the Cicada is only tested in a stiff cross/headwind so far, didn't perform like it should... ;) Ordering a pink Midnight Prowl 2 tonight or tomorrow;) Trespass is money for distance but not as much as my Ballistas which is my max distance disc of choice (only one airshotted over 400' so far), my friend loves the Wave on his forehand, me I am playing around mostly with a Orbital right now, its loads of fun! ;)
I'm the same as you when it comes to Putting and throwing but my mold of choice is the 'Pure' for those slots. Mid Range the Disc I go to the most is the 'Uplink'. Fairway is 'FD' and a close second 'Essence'. Driver is the 'Vanilla'. A slot I think you left out is Utility and mine is the 'Sexton Firebird'. Have a great 2024!
It really grew on me this year. I didn’t like it at all when I first gave them a try in May/June, just didn’t fly like expected. Then I got a Fission in August and was sold!
They are so good! It does depend on arm speed and weight/plastic. With MVP drivers, I found I have to throw low to mid 160’s to get the flight I’m expecting.
Such great input and commentary. Thinking I need ing to make a couple of adjustments. Probably need to pick up a couple of Watts and a Wave soon. Finally starting to get cold in the Twin Cities, so I see some serious winter golf in my future!
They have been great so far! Depending on your arm speed, for the Wave, Fission is great for slower speeds and turnovers while Neutron will mold more torque and a harder finish. Fission flies try to the numbers for me, while Neutron is closer to a -1 turn and 2 fade.
Keep up the great videos. In 2024 if you can review some of the courses you are at in the videos. I am always looking for new places to play. Keep up the great work
Thank you! I used to do some course highlights and want to get back to it. My major issue right now is storage space 😅. A 9 hole course video with my current setup took up about 100GB of memory. Also want to get a drone to give proper hole breakdowns!
I really enjoy the recommendations. The Pathfinder is my go to mid now after trying a bunch, it feels great on forehand and backhand. I have an actual Ethos Pathfinder and a couple Remix Torpedos, which are basically the same (at least for me) but like half the cost considering I have picked up a couple premium plastic ones new on sale for under ten bucks. Next I am going to grab a glow one to try out. This video definitely bumped the Watt on my list of what to buy/try next. With a foot of snow coming this weekend I don't have to rush to pick up anything though!
@@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf I am pretty sure I posted about it in your comments back on your Pathfinder video because I had seen it on a Bodanza video when he was theorycrafting about the Remix line of discs. As a lefty who throws a lot of forehand your channel has been invaluable for pointing me in the right direction and pointing out things I should have on my radar so thanks for that through seeing how then actual flights from a more experienced but similar arm. This past year was my first season playing disc golf and I am well in the rabbit hole now. 😀
@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf I throw the envy and proxy. Best combo I've had the pleasure of throwing. Watt looks like it flies like a proxy honestly and I know Drew Gibson thinks its the best throwing putter. I putt with the CT Corey Ellis challenger os. Picked them up this year to support our in state guy (West Virginia).
I knew mvp would take my top spot with the watt, but I was pleasantly surprised by ThoughtSpace and prodigy! The pathfinder and f9 respectively found their places in my bag and I’m super happy about it Wasn’t surprised at all how well the cicada worked for me. That hard and flat throw has parked almost too many baskets for me this off-season😁
MVP was the biggest surprise for me. I used to rolled my eyes at them, but not anymore! Also Prodigy! I didn’t think I would like their plastic as much as I did. F3 and F9 made the bag, while the Shadowfax is almost in.
100% with the Watt. Even converted my son from a Berg to a Watt. The only downside is wind when putting. When windy, I switch to a Proxy. Would love to see a Fission Crave vs Cicada as they looks to be so similar.
I do want to take a look at the Crave vs Cicada. The Plasma Crave is a little more “overstable” and the Neutron is a little more “understable”. I might have a fission to try out.
Nice list, you started out with one of my favorite discs, the Watt. I haven't tried it as a putting putter, but it replaced the Glitch as my go to approach disc.
I still use the Glitch for 150ft and in, but I use the Watt when I need a similar shot between 200-240ish. Watt really has been a game changer! Hoping they release one in Electron this year!
Awesome video, man! So stoked to see you throwing different brands now. That cicada looks like an interesting disc I'll have to try. Would really like to see you review any of the following: Innova Rhyno, Innova Sidewinder, and Prodigy M3!
I will say I am going to look into Innova a bit more in 2024. Already filled a Tern video and most of an IT video. I did pick up a Sidewinder to try, but I think it was a misprinted Firebird 😝. Thing flew like a 9/4/0/3.
Minnesotans represent! Of the new discs (not newly released discs) that I threw this year, my favorites are the MVP Glitch, Prodiscus Jokeri, and the Axiom Hex.
I’m praying mine takes a while to beat in. Maybe they will release that Proton plastic Watt to the masses, which should hold up better than the Neutron!
I've needed a straight mid for over a year now. I've been just making my relay meteors and pyro work. I finally won a fission reactor and its almost perfect but ive wanted a hex or pathfinder forever. Does the pathfinder or hex fly much different than fission reactor. Mine turns a little with a soft finish. Kinda want a thinner rim. Reactor is just a hair bulky but a fast mid. Almost bought a old fluid Truth.
Haven’t thrown a Reactor yet, so unfortunately can’t say. I prefer the Pathfinder over the Hex, but that’s because the Hex does the opposite of what I want. Sometimes it’s straight, sometimes it’s a Paradox and sometimes it’s a Quake. I will say the Lizzotle Eclipse ones flew more how I expected. Very straight with a decent finish.
@@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf I threw a new glow hex for the 1st time yesterday and it's more stable then my Fission reactor. Fission Reactor flys more like a stable meteor.
You forgot the Crave. 😊 As a fellow Minnesotan I’d selfishly love if you mentioned some of the holes and courses you’re throwing on. I recognize some (Oakwood north valley and maybe even some Sterling hills) but others look like courses I’d love to check out. Keep the vids coming!
@@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf I wanted to add that your discraft plastic comparison video is the best one I’ve seen about that. Loved the way you flight trace each one and show side by side. I’ve rewatched a few times as I decide on a new disc. Any other manufacturers you do like that would be awesome to see. I Just spent some time trying to figure out how the Westside tournament orbit compares to VIP and very little out there.
Watt! Also have you tried a Innova beast? Dx plastic does easy rollers pro and champion plastic for me flights are pretty similar and Gstar does turn more probably because it's flatter.
Oh the Beast!!!! When I first started I found a heavily used DX Beast. I could toss it flat and it would land on the perfect roller line every time. Can’t remember what happened to it…
the Pathfinder is a really good disc, maybe my favorite. It does break in fast though, becoming more like the Mana. I have Ethos, Glow, and Aura (the most stable of the three).
Did you ever try the Discmania Swirly S-Line MD1 or the Latitude 64 Honor? I have been enjoying the MD1 for holding any line and the Honor as a stable/overstable control driver.
MVP/Axiom was a big surprise for me. In the past, I was one of those that rolled their eyes when seeing someone toss gyro. However, they make great discs! I love flatter discs, particularly for forehand) so their stuff has been incredible!
I throw 450-500’ and I love the envy because of the shallow feel and torque resistance. Do you find the watt anywhere near as torque resistant as the envy?
When compared to an Electron Envy, yes I would say so. However, compared to any premium plastic Envy, no. I can get a little turn almost out of the box on an Electron, but any other Envy for me goes straight for 60-70% of the flight and then has a pretty decent finish. Watt’s go straight 80-90% and then have a slight finish.
Don’t get me started on the Hex 😉. I just never clicked with it. Always did the opposite of what I thought it would. Crave was very good and I have had multiple in my bag at some point this year, but I’ll have to come back to them next year.
Put that Detour in for the mid, and use a Relay in the fairway slot...and you're all MVP/Axiom. (Or give the Echo a try - it'll do nearly anything the Detour can do.) Keep up the great work.
Detour might make the bag in 2024. Needing something between the Pathfinder and Paradox. Detour was hitting the lines I used to power down on the Paradox to hit, so having something I can rip into and not worry about so many variables will be nice!
What's the point of having a putter with insane glide? The whole purpose of a putter, is to not glide for days if you miss. If you don't want it to do that, that's what your midranges are for. Adopting the Glitch or Watt is basically saying you don't need putters anymore - let's all just use our mids. Why waste our money on putters that don't function like putters? Throwing less molds has it's advantages, and putting with a Shark or a Ghost or a Pathfinder, is quite pleasant actually - and you're not dealing with an overly thin and different rim, etc - you're going with a feel you're used to, and learning that disc more.
Apologizes for the static/hissing if you have the volume turned up. Getting a better quality mic and studio room, so hoping that issue will be fixed in future videos! Also, these are the top 5 discs I "threw" in 2023, not that were released in 2023.

I love this style of video! I like hearing what discs people like that they just discovered, even if they aren't new this year.
Gotta love what mvps doing. I started the year with none in my bag. And now I have the paradox, detour and envy in my bag!
That will happen! I feel I can almost make a full MVP if I wanted to.

Nice recommendations; good variety including some stuff I haven't really heard of.
Just added the sea otter in Dec, a lovely disc. Love to see the representation!

Cool to see that u still throw discraft. They have good discs. I run a mixed bag too. Too many good disc from all manufacturers.
Yup, all manufacturers make good stuff! I never clicked with Discraft’s putters and mids, but they have amazing drivers!!!!
If you want to try the Sea Otter you can pick up a stable run of Sensei, or a Knife or the Gui, they are all made by Yikun and I have all but the Otter which looks 99% like them all from videos and pictures, the difference is the 2 quarters with texture on the bottom of rhe Gui ;)
Still working to learn my Stig so the Cicada is only tested in a stiff cross/headwind so far, didn't perform like it should... ;)

Loving the Watt in the throwing putter slot. Have not tried it as a C1 putter. Intrigued...
I was worried to do so at first since it is not a base line plastic. But as long as it isn’t pouring rain it has been fine!

Great take on these! The Watt was huge for me too
The Watt is a disc I don’t think I’ll be able to ever replace. If I’m ever sponsored again, then they have to let me keep throwing it lol.

Fairway = Crave and Kastaplast Falk

Hahaha never thought about it like that!
East coast.
Pppfftttt
