This area is occupied by Turkey in violation of international law, not only because war crimes were committed in the course of the Turkish invasion in 1974, but also because Turks were settled there
Why did they invade ? What was the reason ?
There is not a single reason that justifies the occupation of the Turkish military in violation of international law. It is no coincidence that the international community does not recognize North Cyprus as a state.
Cyprus has been part of the Hellenistic culture and language area since ancient times. In the 15th century, Cyprus was occupied by the Ottomans. The Greek population was oppressed by the Ottomans for centuries.
Later, after liberation from Ottoman rule, it became a British colony.
In the 1960s, Turkey bombed Cyprus with napalm bombs, which later led to riots. At the very most, Turkey should have intervened militarily, but it should not have occupied Northern Cyprus permanently.
The rule of the Ottomans over the Greeks/Christians was sometimes very brutal, just think of the genocide of the Armenians in 1915/16 and Pontos Greeks
There were also war crimes committed by Turkey during the occupation of Northern Cyprus.
It is shameful that North Cyprus is presented here without context / reference as a supposedly normal vacation spot
