Good lord, Ian!! Man!! You’re writing freakin’ great music!!! Well done!! Whoa!! I’m so happy to have been introduced to you!! Shout out to Black Pegasus!!! What! What!?!
I hold this song very dear due to personal struggles with ED and auto aggression. Growing up with the heroin chic role models of the nineties left a mark. If you are prone to selfdoubt external influences can leave marks 🥺 Edit: thank you for sharing your story. Its so uplifting to hear people opening up and spreading empathy 🖤
The saddest part of this whole song is how true all of it is. Truth is painful, truth shows all scars and blemishes, truth lets you know you aren't the only one, truth will also heal the mind if you can face it. I cry every time I hear this one.
"If you treated your friends the way you talk to yourself in your head, would you have any friends?" I've never heard that analogy before, and now I will never forget it! One of the many reasons that I love your vids, sir!
Great breakdown on the meaning of Ren’s lyrics. Thank you for opening up about your personal struggles in both your reaction and your Domino song. I love that your lyrics talk about the relationship between pain and happiness. Vulnerability is beautiful.
Your reaction was intimate and honest. I like that you are also open with your experiences. Your therapist makes a very valid point. Enjoyed your song too.
thanks for your insightful and honest reaction to Ren Dominos and thanks for your own songs. following the links was a treat. Ren and you are even reaching a retired grandpa.
Ian you've won me over with your reaction analysis and original music. Now you won me over again with the kitty! In Ren's song could that be the sound of dominoes? Always love Ren's music because it has such meaning along with the creativity.
Haven't seen many folks react to it yet, but it's a pretty cool track Ren -Run away, it's one of his older songs but it's a vibe. Have you watched any falling in reverse, I'm not a vampire and I'm not a vampire revamped is a cool watch Imo.
This song really resonates with me because I have gone through my whole life with eating disorders, self harm, addiction and just general self loathing. I’m always very good at putting on a front and am a very positive person in general and never let my kids see or hear negative self talk and always try to boost their self image. Thanks for sharing part of your story Ian! Ren is great at opening up that channel of conversation between us all 🖤
Great brake down mate 👍 I have 2 daughters 21& 27 and it's been a constant battle to convince them that they, are beautiful and important with there whole life in front of them, I really do think that socal media is too blame for a lot of it, and the fact that everyone is bombarded with information every minute of the day. Kids should be allowed to be kids.
I liked your reaction and insite to Ren's song, thanks for that. I hung around and listened to your song at the end of your reaction. It's not really my kind of music, probably won't listen to it again, however, I can hear your talent and sense the effort you put into that. Couple of things I'll comment on 22:56 I have no idea what you said right before this time point in the video, it's about 10 seconds or so into your song. The filter that you used is pretty crunchy, a little loud in the mix, and way forward. Unfortunately it distorted the voice further than I could understand. 23:14 The chorus is nice, you've got a good voice for what you're doing there. 23:26 I'm really enjoying the "backup vocal" not repeating back what the lead vocal said most of the time. Having that call and answer is really fun. 24:31 absolutely love the juxtaposition of the lines previous to this time point. Especially about Mom. As a parent I know I've cried for both reasons, as a child I know I did the same to my mom. 25:00 really liked that dark/deep stacked vocal Actually, accidentally hit the send button just now, so I assume this will show up as an edit. Anyway, I am only sending this comment as some constructive criticism and I hope you take it as such. Keep up the good work 👍
At 15:50: “ you can never buy enough, never buy enough because the rich will never be satisfied. Right? They will never be satisfied, and honestly, neither will the poor”. …that’s some Money Game talk right there. “Point the mirror at ourselves, we’re all part of this old money game”
Great reaction, really enjoyed it - as did my cat who to be fair was probably paying more attention to Mia 😄. Adding a vote for Everybody Drops and Heretic next. Any plans to release your song? Like that you include your own music and looking forward to more.
Liked and subbed mate. Ren switched us on to an artist called Dirt Miller, there’s not many reactions about yet and none I’ve seen for “blinded by substance”. I would love to hear your views on it.
Plasticine is a kid toy - its like clay/putty it comes in bright colours and never dries out (i think cause its oil based?) that kids can mold with their hands. Maybe it has a different name in america? Its similar to playdough but better. So Ren is saying people like it are easily molded - i.e plastic surgery etc
Darn, missed the premiere working 😅. Thanks Ian!!! I appreciate you sharing this with us. Can’t wait to see which you do next, not many have done the love music trilogy, hope you get to that one, see you on the next one. Have a great day! PS. Don’t worry about “pausing” so much, if people want to listen to the song uninterrupted, they can listen on Ren’s channel. Your fans here are for your input, and your analysis! Keep being you!!! Thanks for sharing Domino!!! I enjoyed the flow switches, and that background 2nd answering voice was a great addition to this track.
Such a great song. Adolescent insecurities are big business in our increasingly toxic culture. I love the line about talent competitions ridiculing the feeble -- I've always loathed those Idol tryouts where you're supposed to laugh at how lousy some people are. Cruelty as entertainment. Have you done Ready For You yet? One of my favorites of Ren's songs, which is a very high bar. Love your stuff, too -- can I download Domino somewhere? I wanna put it on my playlist, no lie. Please advise!
Haha no I haven’t done that one yet. And Domino is unreleased, but you can find my released music by checking out the links in the video description!:)

Some people are more susceptible to patterns of self destructive behavior than others. But to answer your question, technology. Social media, especially. Growing up in the 70s, I don’t think you were as exposed to the outside world, right? At least not on the same scale. Humans weren’t built to have a screen displaying every persons “ideal self” 24/7 you know? I think that’s the big thing. Social media, IMO. TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram in particular, full of people showing highly curated views of their perfect faces and bodies and lifestyles, all day every day.
