Considering the area you live in, it seems that it would be very sensible/necessary to build an underground tornado shelter... Perhaps using one of these containers. It could also serve as a pantry/storage area. Win-win.
I concur.
You're definitely not the first to feel concern along those lines. The problem is, in much of Texas if you dig down more than just a very few feet you hit caliche rock that's almost impossible to dig into without blasting. They may not have _that_ problem since there's the pond, but there could be a water table problem.
They could also do an above ground tornado shelter, such as one of those steel reinforced shelters many people install inside their garages, or even inside their homes. Those that I have seen installed, must be on a concrete slab , anchored deeply into the ground. They are supposed to be able to withstand a direct hit. I would also equip such a shelter with noise cancelling headphones .... it must be incredibly loud inside what with the roar of the 'nader plus the flying debris hitting the shelter.
They have explained they cant place a container underground.but i cant remember the reasons

I can not believe how big the kids are already, especially. Cam! My gosh, it seems like you were just carrying him around, yet he is already using a balance bike! Savor all these moments when they are little! They are the absolute best moments before outside influences intrude and change your beautiful pure hearted children. Once they start school and make friends, peer pressure begins right away. My daughters were best friends and so loving to each other until school happened, then they parted and have never been close since. They are now in their 50's living on opposite sides of the country, haven't seen each other in almost 20 years.
The kiddos are growing up so fast, and you have your hands full LOL! Beautiful family!
Sundays are the day I catchup with the RUclipsrs I follow because most of them post new videos on Sundays. That being said this one is the one I always enjoy the most. Mackenzie's giggles and laughs, as well as watching the kids, always makes me smile. Of course I'm always impressed with Spencer's talent as well.

Beau is the cutest little butterfly I've ever seen. Cam, on the other hand, looks like quite a handful. I can't believe how quickly he is growing. I'm enjoying watching the progress on the cabin container! Looking forward to seeing it start taking shape.

The automotive polyurethane seam sealer is a great choice that won't shrink, or cause your paint to have the "cracked" look.

Keep all the parts duct taped together and put screws and hinges in Ziploc bags attached to the pieces where tgey belong. You can also identify each piece and direction they go.

The secret to painting over silicone is applying a coat of rubber cement and allowing it to dry before painting over it. Rubber cement is available at most office supply stores.
You can also use PVC pipe adhesive to cover the silicone before painting

I love at around 3:43 when Mackenzie tells Spencer that the hardware might get lost and Spencer blames the kids and Mackenzie says no that is not a good answer .Don't feel bad Spencer my wife says the same thing to me when I blame are grandkids for losing things that I supposedly put away.Your daughter is so cute.Shes about the same age as are granddaughter and she also loves wearing those princess outfits and wings.
Put all the small, loose parts in a plastic bucket with a snap on lid, label it, and store it in the barn loft until needed. Keep a catalog of what parts are stored and where they're located.
Organization is pure gold in times of need..............

Just a comment about the silicone. You are so right that there is paintable silicone and non-paintable silicone so hopefully the silicone that you have and are putting on this container is truly paintable and will uphold overtime. I love watching your videos and look I look forward to your little village of containers.
A coat of rubber cement over the silicone will solve the paint adhesion problem.
The cement will bond to the silicone and paint will bond to the rubber cement.
Rubber cement is available from most office supply stores and online.
You guy's do great manage to improve your buildings and you're awesome children. Keep it up and all will multiply.
Bear is suffering from arthritis. The vet has wonderful medication and would be a life changing for his last years.
A little late now but two humble suggestions, 1 Battery powered caulking gun and 2 a spray bottle with a mix of water and dish washing liquid 20:1 mix. Spray on and it's excellent for smoothing out the caulk/silicon.

My daughter and her husband bought a home out in the country in south texas and it came with a storm/safe-room inside the house. The people that built the house were very scared of bad or tornadic weather. They put it in the extra large master bedroom so is also used as a big walk-in closet. It is on the same cement slab as home and the walls are cement filled cinder blocks.Fortunately only had one close call but it was an F1 with hail which broke windows mostly and ruined their tin roof.
I look forward to Monday here in London , the kids are growing so fast and it brings back so many memories of watching my girls grow . You two have done so well , see you next week

I haven’t seen or heard about any more snakes. It came to mind when Spencer was painting under the edge of the container.
It's winter, snakes go dormant or hibernate because they're cold blooded.

Hey Spencer. If you ever want to paint over silicon sealer, spray "Killz" over it. Your paint will then stick just fine. I use this method all the time.
Killz comes in a spray can and is a white paint thay bonds to silicon.

Spencer, jettison the container doors and replace with a nice glass doorway.Expensive yes but the light it would allow into the interior, and the finished look would be worth your efforts.

if you are using an automotive grade seam sealer, if you think about it, it gets painted over when they paint cars so you should be fine on painting over on the exterior. i went to autobody school back in the day and the products have only gotten better. sorry for so many tips AND questions but hey, im only human and im old. lol

Hey dear so ya can seem smarticals Chuckles, they are called Door Cams. and the things the handles drop into are called Cam handle Locks laughs. cause coming from a Vet Driver/mechanic. one of my hated to do jobs taken off door cams and puttin them back on. And dear that is the the manufacture specs sheet/serial plate. another hated job is welding up punchered walls. grrrrrrrrr I used to have a crate full of Door cam Bushings, Toes and Heals for the cam rods, handles, and bushing holders. But durring a huge turn over at work we come to the conclution there was no need to keep so much stuff so all of them, and so much other stuff took a one way ride to the scrap metal yard. Cause i fallow the metal market I bought all the coper, Allunimum, Batteries, and cast brake drums from the boss so I could make a few extra bucks.
