The people that own these firms are the one to bait custermers in and then it a year or 2 they will say their has been a data breach and they will do it from the inside and give out all the custermers information. This is a huge scam and these are the top criminals
If someone borrows against something they don't own then the person/entity/lender who gave them the money is the party that got robbed, not the owner of the asset.
I've always understood that if you buy golf clubs at a pawn shop and you are out golfing with them and they are stolen property and the man who was robbed of them passes you and asks for them you by law have to turn them over as they are still his property. I wonder if that doesn't apply to houses too. Something in the 4th ammendment. Where the 4th ammendment would supercede state law. That ought to be challenged.
I agree. I feel the same way about home warranty companies. I do recommend you request your publicly recorded documents once a year from the county or city clerk or courthouse, whoever keeps those records to make sue there isn't something on file you don't know about. I also recommend you never ever let someone encroach or wander on your property especially someone who is linked to an adjacent neighbor to protect against adverse possession.
Thanks so much Adam! I watched a YT video about someone having their title stolen, then the YT algo started feeding me more and more similar videos. Wasn't long until I was having anxiety about having my title stolen! After watching your video, my mind is at ease.
Not necessary. If the banks or anyne gets duped it's their own fault. Any closing on a property is most likely to have a home title search that finds these things. They guarantee it!. Don't buy Title theft insurance. They're ripping you off.
It's farce. believe me. I've closed on hundreds of properties. Go buy it and make rip-offs filthy rich. I guarantee you they never have any claims.@@kristinegarciabroker
I seen the info commercial and in my opinion the commercial is actually giving criminals a step by step quide on how to steal a house deed or do title transfer. Lol.
I remember the commercial where the guy was like “yeah if they come with a title and we KNOW it’s false and forged we legally cannot turn them away.” I know someone who actually does that for a living and said that is a lie. If they know something is forged they will NOT let the process of title transfer move forward. Such an in your face utter bullshit scamming in a commercial.
Title Insurance? Doesn't that just protect the title search that was done when you bought your house only? Deeds done after the closing, would expect that Title Insurance company to say that it's not their baby now. The TV commercial showed a Quit Claim Deed being done and that being used to divest you of your deed. A title search would show only what was recorded, not it's validity, right?
In a quit claim deed you don't need title insurance. As far as banks they go off deed. Your tax department doesn't catch up to a sale until following year. Idk . I am totally confused. Courts cost large sums. You need a person to suit
Sorry for the delayed response Delilah but I'm glad this was helpful. Seniors often have fixed incomes so $19.95/month can be significant. Thank you for subscribing!
I agree with you. This is wholly unnecessary. Is it a scam? Kind of but no. They do actually provide a monitoring and reporting service for $15 a month, but there is no protection whatsoever. Corrections. They notify not when "a title report is pulled" but rather when a deed or encumbrance is recorded. Also correction, you referred to this unneeded "insurance policy" when in fact there is zero insurance.
Thank you for the corrections, Jim. Yes, I misspoke, notification occurs AFTER a recording, whereas the "insurance policy" I was referring to was not "insurance" but rather "assurance" that the homeowner would be notified. The homeowner gets notified by the County anyway as they receive a copy of the recorded document, often within about 2 weeks but presumably Home Title Lock would notify the homeowner sooner.
Nobody can take your home. It has to go thru a process and you have to SIGN! If a bank gets ripped off by selling a mortgage to someone who doesn't own your home then it's their own problem. it's a rip off!
Hello Hi-Fi Insider, sorry for my delayed reply but even if your home is paid off and you do not have Lender's Title insurance, Home Title Lock does not prevent someone from fraudulently recording a Quitclaim Deed against your home and when a deed is recorded, the County Recorder's office automatically sends you a copy of it, usually within 2 weeks, so you will be notified one way or another. Home Title Lock says they are a 24/7 monitoring service so it's quite possible they would notify you before the County. But once you became aware, you would file a police report, the District Attorney would file charges, you would appear before a judge, prove your identity and prove that the documents used to record the Quitclaim were fraudulent, thereby making the fraudulent transfer null and void. If at some point in the future you transfer your property, it would be in the new owner's interest to get an Owner's Title Policy (and they will be required to get Lender's Title insurance if they have financing), even if you currently own the home free and clear. I hope this helps.
The party who lends money to someone who is not the rightful owner of the collateral is the party that got ripped off. They want the uninvolved owners of the collateral to pay for their failure to do their due diligence.
Good info and agree 100% Yes title theft/etc is increasing but usually for abandoned properties, etc and the Home Title Lock provides no insurance or even legal assistance if this occurs. It's a simple monitoring service that you can actually do yourself. Life Lock at least does the same thing but with added part it helps as an insurance to repair damage in $$$ amounts depending on the plan you have and also provides legal counsel again depending on your plan should Identity thieves truly do damage. Home Title Lock uses great marketing though to scare folks
Yes it seems like to me that I alone had the original copy of the deed, then yes should buy this protection. But since it was under public records, they should fix this.
So you want people to wait until after it happens then have to fight it? Thats like saying you don't need smoke detectors because after the fact the fire department will put it out. Crazy! Have you ever been embroiled in. one of these situations and do you have ANY idea how long it takes and how much money it burns fighting to get these title companies or mortgage companies to pay up? Crazy that you could be so obtuse about a subject like this and act like you have some insight, irresponsible.
All Home Title Lock does is inform you after the fact. It does not prevent someone from making a claim on your property or protect you. It is not insurance. Also, you can do what Home Title Lock does yourself for free, online.
Redneck Nation, sorry for my delayed response but thank you for your concern and input. Home Title Lock is not an insurance company but rather, a monitoring company or an alarm system to use your smoke detector analogy. Also, Home Title Lock is not able to stop a fraudulent Quitclaim Deed from being recorded until after the homeowner becomes aware of it and subsequently tells Home Title Lock so they can flag/prevent future fraudulent recordings. In the event someone fraudulently recorded a Quitclaim Deed, the home owner would need to file a police report (even if using Home Title Lock), then the District Attorney would presumably file charges and appearing before a Judge, the Homeowner would be able to prove the signature, identification and thumbprint provided to the Notary were fraudulent and Judge would rule the transaction illegitimate, deeming the property back to the rightful owner. If a lender was somehow duped into lending money to an illegitimate Borrower, it would be the Title Company who would reimburse the lender and remove the fraudulent lien from title or insure around it. Home Title Lock would not cover losses from a fraudulent lien sustained but cover legal fees of the Homeowner up to $250,000 month or $500,000 annually. Given the most probable course of events, in an attempted title theft, it seems unlikely the Homeowner Plaintiff would rack up anywhere near this amount of legal bills, if any and therefore the "post-factum" alert from Home Title Lock would be overkill for most people. That said, if it gives someone extra peace of mind and they don't have something better to do with the the current subscription fee of $19.95 (as of 11/1/22), go for it.
Exactly, thats the kind of arrogance that gets people in trouble, if 2020 taught me anything its that you can not believe everything you hear. And, two things can be true at the same time. Meaning, sure a few years ago he was most likely correct, Not now lol. Now, he is delusional if he thinks that the chances are that slim. Just in 2022, cyber theft in the US was up over 33 %, up 20% from 2021 so I would not same that so non shalantly thats all. He was correct in 2019, things change anything can happen, better to protect just in case.
Sounds like top inside criminals are running this program. How do we know your data wont get hacked. How secured is it? You forgot to show the people what happends if your data gets hacked
Think about it people who generate home title lock commercials are no better than criminals that would steal a home title.
The people that own these firms are the one to bait custermers in and then it a year or 2 they will say their has been a data breach and they will do it from the inside and give out all the custermers information. This is a huge scam and these are the top criminals
Home title lock paid a title theif to do a commercial. Insanity
the irony
If someone borrows against something they don't own then the person/entity/lender who gave them the money is the party that got robbed, not the owner of the asset.
Sure it's a scam. No such thing as a lock on your title.
I've always understood that if you buy golf clubs at a pawn shop and you are out golfing with them and they are stolen property and the man who was robbed of them passes you and asks for them you by law have to turn them over as they are still his property. These crimes happen after the title policy is issued. They aren’t involved in the recording of the deed at this point though.
It's farce. believe me. I've closed on hundreds of properties. Go buy it and make rip-offs filthy rich. I guarantee you they never have any claims.@@kristinegarciabroker
Thank you very much for this very much needed information. You just saved another person an unneeded & unnecessary payment every month.
You're welcome Richard, these days especially we all need to spend our money wisely. Happy New Year.
Home Title Lock….. It’s no longer $15.00 a month it’s has increased to $19.95 a month.
I seen the info commercial and in my opinion the commercial is actually giving criminals a step by step quide on how to steal a house deed or do title transfer. Lol.

These businesses that prey on fear are shameful.
a better analogy would be a fireman advising you to pay for their monthly protection plan

Thanks Adam for your video I too was concerned about thief’s taking my title or equity in my home . Again thanks for your help
This is a crime and the federal law enforcement agency needs to arrest these individuals. Dont want to hear they cant catch them. That is false.
Home title lock pays a title theif to do a commercial. These criminals running these companies are insane
That's exactly what I thought does somebody pause money on something they don't own the thing that stole the money

Do u sell Owner Title Insurance?
But don’t title companies make you sign waivers that removes them from liability?

Right it's a joke. You can look up your property yourself to see the title is okay. All they do is tell you something you can look up yourself.
It's not increasing. They're lying rip offs. It woul dbe really hard to do if even possible except on maybe an abandoned home that nobody checks mail.
Home title lock will say join our program then say our data got hacked and bresched by cyber criminals. This thing is a scam
Thank you so much for this valuable information and putting my mind at ease you are awesome.
