I've been a fan of seeeeecun for a while and I've had no trouble understanding his songs. But this song i find my lack of knowledge on the Japanese language or culture affects my understanding, if anyone thinks they could explain the meaning of the children's festival, era, shrine, the red fish and tengu mask mean for this song i'd love to hear!! also love the song of course, i will be listening daily
I can't speak for most of these, but tengu were bird-like humanoid youkai once known for kidnapping children. In a way this is what happened to the tourists in the video
I don't know much about the culture either, but the lyrics and visuals make me think of a cult. Dancing is sometimes thought of as a form of manipulation, used by cults, to induce a 'trance-like' state of mind. In the end, the three kids are given veils over their eyes, taking their individuality away. The previous reply mentions the Tengu to be youkai that kidnap children; and while this may be in the literal sense, I also think this is somewhat similar to cult leaders usually recruiting naive and impressionable people, who are usually children. The main guy (cult leader), who is extremely handsome and, I'm assuming charming, also puts on this somewhat friendly demeanor, whilst putting pressure on the kids to join in the dancing. Japan is not exempt from having numerous cult-like groups, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what this song truly is about. Then again, I don't know much about Japanese culture either, so this is my best guess lol
@@mahogania5536oh i hadnt thought of them as tourists omg! i honestly assumed it was a song about being lured into a state of eternal youth because of the tengu and the childrens festival, i thought the characters were kids but tourists huh.. well cults and eternal youth theyre both interesting takes !!
@@peppaminter i just thought of tourists because of the clothes, backpacks and the thing around the girl's neck, i figured if they were elementary or highschool kids they would be dressed differently and carry the school mandated backpacks
@@peppaminter Cults tend to promise the unattainable to their followers. If this song were about a cult, perhaps the cult would be promising eternal youth? Edit: if the three other people are tourists and not children, if you've ever watched Midsommar you know what happened to the tourists that got roped into the Harga cult ;)
