Good video, I have a F56 Cooper S 2.0 L (not a jcw) and it takes 5.25 liters of oil.... Are you sure your B48 takes 5.5 liters? I agree Amsoil is pretty awesome! Pennzoil ultra platinum is pretty comparable in terms of performance etc.
Bro! Thank you soooo much for showing why the K&N 7039 doesn’t fit! I literally almost bought one! 😭 also what do you think about the Lucas oil High performance full synthetic oil additive. Do you think it’s even necessary? I’ve seen someone test it on bearings and it show much less wear but wanted your two cents. I also have a JCW no remap but have the Mmr boost an charge pipe kit and also the hard intake resonator delete with the high performance silicone intake coupler. Planning to remap and also go for the eventuri carbon intake like you and the MMR inter cooler
Hi, recently i've got 2017 JCW and its written 0-20 oil i should use, but i decided to use Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40. Than i talked to guy who has GP Mk3 and he adviced me to use Red Line oil in engine and transmission. What can you say about Red Line? Thanx!
Have you looked into upgrading the standard oil cooler for something like the forge oil cooler? A worthwhile mod if the engine is getting to higher temps on fast road or track conditions. 5-40 Millers NT+ seems to be the preferred oil across the pond for the JCW :)
This is great advice, David! I have seen the upgraded Forge oil cooler, but I haven’t researched it much. I’ll look more into it and see if it’s worth upgrading to in the future. 🍻🤘🏼
Is the AMSOIL LSPI friendly and have you noticed anything with cooling and flow efficiencies for the turbo? I went to a heavier weight oil and noticed the turbo wasn’t being cooled as effectively and the oil wasn’t being cooled as effectively by the built in oil cooler. I also noticed oil smell from inside the cabin when really beating on the car. I went back to the 2+ Mini factory 0w20 and everything seems to function better overall. I do use the K&N filters as I like the oil filter housing drain plugs better than the factory plug. The factory plugs will break due to having to use Torx bits.
So many great points, Robin! I haven’t noticed any issues with cooling but I have noticed that the engine feels stronger on my butt dyno. Granted, it’s still too new of an oil change to not feel a bump in performance, I’ll do an update video in 1k miles and after the next track day. I plan on filming them so let’s see how it performs. Also, big turbo will be going on the Mini soon, almost done with the development, so I’ll try to collect this oil information before I make the swap to the larger turbo. 🤘🏼
Thanks for doing this
Yes, it does fit. I just used the 7039 on 2017 MINI S F56. There are reviews of it as well.
Can i use this Amsoil 0w30 in my stock 2019 b48 ?!
PS 7039 does show an indent which should work properly.
Hi
Could an oil catch can be installed on this engine?

Hi.. what oil do I use for my 2013 Mini Cooper?
Is it a JCW model?

@@Sovadnb I’ve never used Red Line’s motor oil. I have used their transmission oil and that’s decent.

Bugatti is quad turbo 16 cylinder.
There is a short 32mm socket which does the job a lot better.
I agree. I went and picked one up a few days post this video. Thanks for the insight though :)
Use diesel oil.
I might on this new GTR build I have going on 😆
The service by the dealers is total nonsense .They don't waste money on cars there selling if possible
@@markleaning107 100% I agree. Wait until you see my GTR video I’ll be putting out soon on all the “maintenance” work the dealership did. It’s so bad.
