Hey Northernlion, big fan. At 8:40 5 energy of Bash + Cleave + Cleave + Strike = 13 + 12 + 12 + 11 = 48 damage > 27 armor and 20 HP of enemy so Bash was better than taking 14 damage or even another Strike and let the Fire Breathing kill it. I've noticed early on his first instinct is to play his Defends before considering Lethal to take damage off of the table which he's gotten a lot better at except when he recently played a non-Lethal card that discarded his defends and got him killed.
You see how at 8:51 the enemy had 12 HP after NL played his cards. If instead of using 2 energy to use 2 Defends to gain 6 block, he used Bash to do 13 damage and kill it regardless of Artifact he would have avoided taking damage or used 1 extra Attack and the Fire Breathing would have finished it off.
Jose Marques, with what? Playing a game badly (in your opinion)? I must have missed where you were appointed arbiter of how people are allowed to play their games.
At 20:25 you had a flame barrier, he was swinging for 7 and had 3 HP, and you had 5 HP of healing from your potion left. You have 50% bonus healing and it rounds up.
I think watching you play has made me worse at this game. I won 7 runs, and now I notice I'm playing more and more like you, why?? Still worth watching every episode.
yeah sword boomerang scales really well with strength, upgraded heavy blade is still pretty strong since it gets 5x strength bonus my favourite for strength heavy deck is probably pummel but it's more rare and exhausts
I watched some guy I know play his first run of Slay the Spire and he got a good defensive deck that eventually turned into 100+ block and double-tap body slam with strength for 300 damage. He took no damage the third floor and won.
It's a mixed blessing. The advantage is that you don't need to hold back from playing your own defends to enable it, the disadvantage is that it's only as good as Orichalcum if you get hit twice in one turn. But against some enemies, like the birds, it can be way better than Orichalcum.
NL, focus man. You said 10 +10 +12 is not enough... That's 32 and the dude had 31 hp. You had him and would have taken no damage. Otherwise, keep up the play man. You are getting better and helping me get better too.
No offence, but I doubt his runs can help anybody to improve. He isn't aware of all his misplays, changes his 'strategies' because of a single random card drop etc. If You want to 'learn' I recommend Quill18. He isn't perfect at all, but he recognizes and gives feedback after making a mistake, so You could learn from it and he follows some strats. If You want to see some more 'pro' play, Trump is Your man! And I'm sure there's a ton of other great players and teachers, but since that's not my go-to genre, I'm ignorant of others. Hope, watching them can help and improve Your play! :) And for laughs, face palms and eggs, well, this channel seems great! ;)
I think early game it might be better to avoid question marks and try to hit basic enimies, elites and shops more so you have more options of cards in the early game thus making it easier to enable a synergy.
I try to hit a bunch of enemies early on instead of ?-rooms to get some good cards for elite fights if you're heading into an early elite with mostly basic cards you're gonna have a bad time
My dude, PLEASE start using heavy blade with strength builds! You have not lived until you drop a 100+ damage attack on some poor defenseless critter. (Also i think there's an achievement for it)
"Why, take, damage, if, we, don't HAVE TO?!" "You've got some serious-ass taking-damage-when-we-don't-have-to problems, Sifl!" "Not anymore! With Precious Roy's Block-And-Cleave All-In-One, all your taking-damage-when-we-don't-have-to problems are solved!"
I either get a run where im ridiculously overpowered and breeze to the end or its just absolute shite and i die first floor haha :D Cant wait for more updates though, eager to see what more the game has to offer ^^
At 18:33 he could have killed the guy in the middle. Egg you suck at math, 10+10+12 = 32 and he had 31 hp. "We can't kill him" tho, plus he would have taken only 3 damage because of Orichalcum. Egg pls
I cant say that they're wrong persay, but man I hated the decisions you made this run. That shop at 17:00, not taking a relic like happy flower and only buying potions and cards.. Whole episode was pretty sloppy Unrelated, probably one of the best values for pandora's box that I've ever seen. With limit break and that many strength increases you shouldn't have a problem in the final area, especially if you actually remember to use reaper to heal with insane strength every battle. I just hope to god you upgrade your limit break or save it with armaments every battle.
Agile Dissonance definitely the smart play. Floor 2 elites end too many runs, especially book hand. But if I had full hp then I’d probably take any relic
the potions 100% saved him and buying cards is almost always the right decision in shops unless it's a relic that specifically causes your deck to insta-win
Buying cards is fine. The ones he bought only marginally improved his deck. Buying potions means you probably misplayed so much earlier that it put you in a bad position.
the problem is that he runs small deck, with nothing in the deck itself... having 2 strikes and defends is essentially equivalent to having 5 of both, if you dont have anything else...
yeah but if you completely thin them out to 0s, you dont have to worry about drawing them ever! Also cards like true grid combined with deck thinning are so good
*Enemy has 31 hp*
"Can we kill one? 10, 10, 12. Not enough"
Egg???
And he had orichalcum
That failed Spot Weakness play is like the 12th time he has failed with that exact card.
18:29 32 damage against an ennemy with 31 HP, "That's not enough"
Is the egg alright?
Yeah
Why are you asking? If he'd calculated that correctly, then you gotta be concerned.
this episode showed how useful juzu bracelet can be
Does NL know there is an orb in the bottom left corner of the screen that tells him how much energy he has?
I'm pretty sure he's just doing it to bug us. He has to be, right? Even the Egg isn't that unobservant.
Pfft, you think Egg's noticed there's _cards?_
@@DystopianCreativity Eggs don't have eyes

yea get used to the bad plays from this unhatched chicken
Enemy had artifact. Can’t outsmart the egg
You see how at 8:51 the enemy had 12 HP after NL played his cards. The misplays hurt but the fact he realizes he makes them straight after he does it makes it sting a little less
*He can't keep getting away with it!*
Jose Marques, with what? Playing a game badly (in your opinion)?
I must have missed where you were appointed arbiter of how people are allowed to play their games.
It's a meme dude.
Thanks for the company, also I’m addicted to NL’s MtS
10+10+12= not enough
After NL disrespects juzu bracelet, he gets the horrible rng in question mark combats.
19:19
NL always forgets he has the 6 block. Don’t lose hope

There's a really good sinergy with rupture and the curse pain... really good...
that was probably the best pandora's box I've ever seen
Finally had my first win, used the silent and built a very high defense build with many passive damage effects, few good direct attacks.
multiple blurs + footwork = gg
"We need to get get rid of these elixirs..." has an opportunity to "use" and elixir and exhaust those dazes... instead he chuckles and strikes
all this Strength and no Heavy Blade pickups.
Or, you know, the boomerang sword. multiple attacks does exactly the same thing as a strength multiplier in most cases, but for half the energy.
yeah sword boomerang scales really well with strength, upgraded heavy blade is still pretty strong since it gets 5x strength bonus
my favourite for strength heavy deck is probably pummel but it's more rare and exhausts
10+10+12=

Self forming clay was a bad choice I believe

But against some enemies, like the birds, it can be way better than Orichalcum.
Hey, look, it's more proof that NL can neither do math or remember that he has an energy counter.

NL setting the Missed Lethal record with this one yall
24:30 - Offering into 2 strikes is lethal ...
I think NL did a great job this episode! Love ya egg, stay upbeat!
I don't know why I'm so bothered by his pronunciation of "orichalcum", but every time he says "oritshalsum" I die a little inside.

well he did 280 damage to the final boss in one video with heavy blade

haha that pandora rng was nice
“We need to get rid of these elixirs!” Draws 4 curses - ends turn
They were ethereal so they disappear from his deck when he ends his turn. It would've been a waste to drink an elixir
Those curses were ethereal.
Those are status’s not curses and they’re ethereal
Ya, of course *we* all know they were ethereal.
But question is, did NL know that?!
I doubt it...
Slow down
10 + 10 + 12? It's not enough...
Egg needed 31 😂
he needed 36
18:20 please go rewatch the episode, and never question a critique of the egg lord
This is going to be a rough beyond
He's got healing synergy now. That's really powerful
MrTohawk Yeah but he literally got rid of most of his defense in a pretty fat deck
he'll probaby die on the first enemy and then start a new run
Good Video
i always leave the shield gremlims alive so the guy just summons useless boys
LETS GOOOOOOOOO

i feel bad because i enjoyed the series a lot, but now ive bought the game so i don't feel like sitting through the misplays

Gotta be honest. Run looked hopeful but looks like his AoE deck didnt have the lasting power and is highly likely to lose to the final boss.

if he keeps on with his small deck horseshit and skips great card one more time i will send him an angy tweet every time with the misplay from now on!
small decks are good though, NL just picks bad cards all the time
Card choice was definitely not the problem. And small decks are fine.
the problem is that he runs small deck, with nothing in the deck itself...
having 2 strikes and defends is essentially equivalent to having 5 of both, if you dont have anything else...
Not true. He has so many strength increases that getting a limit break *cough* would be incredibly good with reaper.
