Scratches and missing things give it character. It says "I'm a workin truck!" 😄 ....although I admit, you expect to get SOME miles and years on it before dents, scratches and missing things start to appear.
That trailer has automatic slack adjusters. If the brakes are dragging, they may have been installed incorrectly, and they will continue to tighten too much even after you've backed them off. Or, they were installed properly but somebody did the initial adjustment too tight. Since they can't back themselves off, that would explain why they seemed to be fine once you backed them off. Aaron was following you when they were dragging. Did he see any smoke ? If he didn't, they didn't get any where near hot enough to do any damage. Be prepared for the dealership to say they're fine, no damage, and send you on your way. They're not going to put $1,000 worth of new parts on a wagon that doesn't need it. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
This, also do they have ebs on the prime mover and trailer like it's mandatory in Australia to have from 2016? If so, maybe they were working to prevent lockup.

ABOUT YOUR TRAILER BRAKE PROBLEM IN 2009 I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, FIGURED IT OUT AND IT WAS FIXED I'm posting here in hopes you might see this without getting lost in the comments. I hope this helps you! I was in a 2004 XL Classic, no modifications except a drop axle. Pulling only and always a brand new 2009 4 axle, extendable container chassis. It had ABS and helped us understand the problem. The reason I didn't get flat spots is because the ABS would keep kicking of the trlr brake. But let me tell you, the surging it did, drove me F'n nuts. I eventually cut that out of the wiring. The term that was said to me, is "crack valve pressure". It was me who eventually discovered the issue, once I knew more about how the system works. The techs all treated me like the dumb truck driver. I don't claim to know every detail of how the air system works to apply the brakes, but but I do have good basic understanding of it. Crack vale pressure refers to the pressure required to start to open the brakes air distribution valve. My trailer's valve was starting to open at 4 psi, while the truck's valve was starting to open at 7 psi. This created the same problem that you are having. Now this makes sense if you really wanted to control you braking in ice/snow conditions. But if you are a light footed in braking (I am) or gently riding your brakes down a hill, than you are using a lot more trailer brake than the rest of your trucks ability. Because your trailers brake valve is opening first and further. This in turn causes your trlr brakes to build excessive heat, which in turn causes your drums to expand, which leads to your slack adjusters to tighten even further (to compensate for the bigger drum diameter). Once the drums cool off and shrink, your brakes are now to tight. The one wheel that would occasionally stop/drag when you did the free spin in the air is a warped drum. This can happen when the drums are very hot, and then cool with the shoes putting pressure on the drum. I suppose this problem could amplify if your trlr's drums are smaller diameter than your trucks. I never pulled a trlr that had much smaller tires/wheels than the truck, like your stepdeck. Old timer told me once never set the brakes if you got the drums really hot, it will egg shape the drum.. I hope this explains it well enough. The fix for me was to get both the truck and trlr valves to open at the same time. So we had a new valve put on the trlr buy pushing it thru the warranty. I don't know much about your truck. I only today, discovered one of your videos and caught a random comment by you about your trlr brake issue. Then watched a few more videos of you discussing it. And it is exactly like my issue. I hope this helps! Blessings to you sir
ive been driving 17 years, adjusting brakes is just part of the deal. if you run mountains you are required to inspect them all the time and adjust accordingly. doesnt matter the trailer is new, you should have adjusted them in the first 50 miles, check the hub oil, grease points, ect. pre delivery inspection, HA! what about your pretrip inspection?
as a veteran driver, you should know that self adjusters are called that for a reason. If you have to manually adjust them then you have something wrong. I've been trucking for 30 plus years. I'm constantly in the rockies. I check my brakes every pretrip, but never need to adjust them.
@@donmunro144 it's why I stick with the manuals! Forces me to always take way better looks at brake conditions and such. All I've got to say is pre trip pre trip pre trip. Just because you have a brand new truck and trailer doesn't mean you can just jump in it and take off without doing your part in checking stuff. New equipment can have issues to.
As time goes by you will get experience in how an 18 wheeler feels under all situations. When a brake gets tight the free rolling changes and you will detect it when coming to a stop as the free roll is limited or gone. Up north we have brakes freeze to the drums in the winter and causes more problems than you can imagine. Good luck with all you do.

You were in my territory when you were in Ky on 80. I live about 15 minutes from there. Had I known I would have bought you dinner. Great video, sorry about your trailer. I would be mad too. Thanks for sharing!
What kind of motor do you have because you should have a jake brake.... You have like a Cummins you should be able to loosen up the exhaust valves 45,000 change your programming on your computer to priority one for your Jake brake ahead of everything else pump your Jake brakes up on the computer to maximum and you should have a pretty serious set of Jake's after that so that when you're don't have a trailer hooked up you ought to be able to chirp your tires if you have tandem duels....... That's chirp your tires with your Jakes without your trailer on......
you shoulda asked them to put on automatic slack adjusters, when you ordered the trailer. Mash your brake pedal all the way to the floor 3 times, and your brakes are set. Or crawl under and turn the bolts all the way tight then back off 1/8 - 1/4 turn to set.
Yeah man hope they make good on the brake parts and cleaning the rims, forget the down time they wouldn't pay that for sure. Over all that's a kick ass trailer but for a new one you are correct they fu-ked up on pre-inspection before handing it off to you.
Hello you know you need check air pressure gauge on the trailer because if good pressure on your truck but there bad connection air line cause low pressure on the trailer that parking brake is drag get hot
Don't forget you need a dot inspection on that trailer,. You better learn to slow things down and not get in a hurry doing stuff. Your going to mess up the truck or trailer or load getting in a hurry like your doing
If you worried about height, can you come up with a laser pointer to set on top of your sleeper at 13-6, if it hits your too tall, if it clears your Gucci
I just took delivery of a 2022 Ford F-250 that I ordered in January that needs 10,000$ worth of paint rework due to the primer showing through the paint when setting in the sun seams like they don’t build nothing like they used to any more
This might be a super dumb question lol,, coasting down that hill with the exhaust brake or jake brake,, does that use any extra fuel as opposed to without and riding the brakes? (I know you don’t ever ride your brakes,, just asking from a fuel consumption point)
New drums, New shoes and a complete trailer detail seems reasonable to me. Those saying they would take nothing less then a brand new trailer are bit crazy in my estimation.
Line up the center of rear axle on first tractor with the very edge of the trailer to gain inches. Crank her down. Not going anywhere. I used to be a car hauler
my son Blake, says he's been a huge fan of yours since before flat nasty was built. Blake Whitaker is his name and Clayton is the other. they'd love a shout out!
Hey Bruce, sucks what's happening there! Hope you get things sorted! Question from other side of the atlantic: why is your trailer that high, 5ft and a bit on the front deck? Wouldn't it be an idea to get it lower with smaller wheels&tyres? Makes loading/unloading easier and gives you more space on max height. The straps&chains can also be stored on a box on the truck, you have massive space between your fuel tank and 1st rear axle. Anyways, all the best and regards from here. T-Bear from NL.
@@parkermckowen3781 no, I don't actually. Where I come from that is wasted space and causes too much airdrag. Here sides are closed with extra fueltanks and boxes for straps/chains/tools/whatever. Also the gap between cab and front of trailer is kept between 2-3ft. To give a few examples...
I was wondering what was wrong with steppy the step deck? looks like if could fit more and was as for now more reliable lol. Any reason for the new trailer?

Dude I subscribed because I admired your hard work man and it shows …. I first came across your vidz at 440 ship which is how I got my radio installed ass well after watching what he had done to that beautiful Cabover you have it had …. Great video thanks for sharing
You are right Bruce the trailer should’ve been in top shape Especially the brakes i’m sure they will take care of you but that’s time you didn’t want to mess around with
You were about 15 miles from me when you picked up that RK tractor in Knott County Kentucky. Pretty cool that you came through here. Be Safe ol buddy
Yessirree love the new you.Dad husband, brother.,and all around Great personality.sir keep your headed up.keep sharing the good and day to day experience
I have a swisher 60inch pull behind brush mower. I paid 800$ for it used. Around my area in Louisville Kentucky they are pretty hard to come by.
You should have any issues getting 1500 for that walk behind. Hell who am I telling. Your the best tractor an mower sells man in the country.
Yep he sure ripped that guy off giving him 400$
@@pumacat1637 all the guy had to say was no! I'm sure Bruce would have paid more. 🙄
Hey Bruce
Loved the video.
Get used to having problems with everything. The pandemic shutdown has killed quality in most everything.
Keep the videos coming.
i agree 1000 percent. im not a trucker but in hvac and everything is jacked
It’s so cool to see your videos and see how. Close you came to me in tn. Keep up the good work and be careful out there!,
Awesome video trailer looked good all loaded up! I hope they made it right with you on the trailer brakes!!
All I've got to say is pre trip pre trip pre trip. Just because you have a brand new truck and trailer doesn't mean you can just jump in it and take off without doing your part in checking stuff. New equipment can have issues to.
Cool loud there . Sorry about the brakes short them out .👌🏻
Yes love these longer videos, you have a really nice set up now to bro...your doin very well for your self and your family and business
Love your videos Bruce. You have a great style in front of the camera, very easy to watch.
Disc brakes are a wonderful addition to modern trucking. Never had to adjust or break free a disc here in ND.
HWY 80, My family has a 103 acre ranch on HWY except its in AZ where the HWY enters the USa as the PanAm HWY
is it straight piped yet or does it still have 3 exhausts
Dang brother must be a rush to drive that ole Mahindra! Get that money ole son and may the Lord bless you with good fortune and safe passage. Keep up the good work.
Nice trailer maybe me I didn't see no dot number or full permits on truck I do love truck
The bluegrass parkway is pretty certain times of the year. It is probably the right time of the year for all the pretty scenery now. So if you get a opportunity to go that way go check it out. It beautiful
You oughta put a CB in the Ram so you can talk between the pickup and the Semi when you have them driving together
You were in my territory when you were in Ky on 80. I live about 15 minutes from there. Had I known I would have bought you dinner. Great video, sorry about your trailer. I would be mad too. Thanks for sharing!
Wow!! Your living your passion. Keep up the good work. You could go on a vacation with family and vlog that too. IDK just an idea🤣
And it all started with a will it start Cab Over video for me! Love the content bud be safe out there!
you shoulda asked them to put on automatic slack adjusters, when you ordered the trailer. Mash your brake pedal all the way to the floor 3 times, and your brakes are set. Or crawl under and turn the bolts all the way tight then back off 1/8 - 1/4 turn to set.
All semi trailers have had automatic slacks since early-1998; it's Federal law.
Most auto slacks only supposed to be backed off once
Truck and trailer is awesome just need to get that missing chrome rear cap 🤙🏽
You should hire an experienced flatbedder to go with you a couple trips to show you how it's done.
you were seriously like 10 minutes from my house on hwy 80!!!!! this is soooo cool!! hope you received great hospitality!!!
If ain’t one thing, it’s another…but you handled it like a pro.
1000 hrs or 2500 hrs on that kubota it doesn't matter they are great machines
Don't forget you need a dot inspection on that trailer,.
You better learn to slow things down and not get in a hurry doing stuff. Your going to mess up the truck or trailer or load getting in a hurry like your doing
Very impressed with your trucking ability and skills this coming from a 31 year veteran in the industry great job keep up the awesome work.
You're a Damn liar. Tailgating that green cavalier on a downhill grade while loaded. You must be a shit trucker if you think this is good.
Bruce you were right in my back yard picking up the first tractor on Highway 80 you’re sitting in the KRCC parking lot
Hauled a many load of coal and gravel right down that Hal Rodgers parkway
If you worried about height, can you come up with a laser pointer to set on top of your sleeper at 13-6, if it hits your too tall, if it clears your Gucci
Them some nice tractor s man .. the rigs looking killer
I just took delivery of a 2022 Ford F-250 that I ordered in January that needs 10,000$ worth of paint rework due to the primer showing through the paint when setting in the sun seams like they don’t build nothing like they used to any more
One of the main reasons I choose to own older equipment. There's no guarantee that new equipment won't cause problems or have major issues.
This might be a super dumb question lol,, coasting down that hill with the exhaust brake or jake brake,, does that use any extra fuel as opposed to without and riding the brakes? (I know you don’t ever ride your brakes,, just asking from a fuel consumption point)
Great as always 👍👍
Good job 👏👏
I’m at Love’s in Lake City,FL and I loaded with a load beef and it deliver in the morning at Gainsville,FL.
Awesome truck dude 👌
New drums, New shoes and a complete trailer detail seems reasonable to me. Those saying they would take nothing less then a brand new trailer are bit crazy in my estimation.
I’d add ramps to front of top deck, you have plenty of room, build them out of channel iron to slip in stake pockets when needed ,
It's got built-in ramps that can be lifted out of the deck
@@a456987 to go out past front of trailer, lots of wasted space between front of trailer and back of sleeper, that’s how my stepdeck is rigged up
I always loved truckin in Kentuck.I don't miss Knoxville chicken coops
Line up the center of rear axle on first tractor with the very edge of the trailer to gain inches. Crank her down. Not going anywhere. I used to be a car hauler
We always pdi our trailers before sending them to a customer and we're a leasing company buying from the dealer(our sister company)
That's crazy sorry about your trailer.
I'm glad I got to drive non computer trks,no bullshit about them, I was in control not a box.
my son Blake, says he's been a huge fan of yours since before flat nasty was built. Blake Whitaker is his name and Clayton is the other. they'd love a shout out!
Just some advice allways PDI your own stuff even if it's brand new. They build them and ship they don't care.
That Swisher brush mower is sweeeet
The auto adjust slacks are set wrong. They are tighting themself up everytime you use the brakes
Why are the roads extra terrible? All the hills or are they rough?
Hey Bruce, sucks what's happening there! Hope you get things sorted! Question from other side of the atlantic: why is your trailer that high, 5ft and a bit on the front deck? Wouldn't it be an idea to get it lower with smaller wheels&tyres? Makes loading/unloading easier and gives you more space on max height. The straps&chains can also be stored on a box on the truck, you have massive space between your fuel tank and 1st rear axle. Anyways, all the best and regards from here. T-Bear from NL.
Gotta keep the big space open on the truck to keep it looking long. Looks over functionality dont you remember?
@@parkermckowen3781 no, I don't actually. Where I come from that is wasted space and causes too much airdrag. Here sides are closed with extra fueltanks and boxes for straps/chains/tools/whatever. Also the gap between cab and front of trailer is kept between 2-3ft. To give a few examples...
How did it like elk mountain in Manchester KY and Jelico mountain in TN
Great to see you your my favourite world's greatest
Hey bruce! the new videos comin out always makes my day. i hope everything is well with you and the fam i love you all:)
I can't wait for the videos on you upgrading your pickup truck with mods
that pickup bed woulda been a swell place to put the mower and maybe a bucket or two.....
I was wondering what was wrong with steppy the step deck? looks like if could fit more and was as for now more reliable lol. Any reason for the new trailer?
Bruce do you plan on hooking up the stacks on the new Peterbuilt ?
You should have strapped the loader bucket down that was on top of the brush hog.
