I was born and raised in Kagoshima. Thank you for the wonderful video of my city. Kagoshima is the birthplace of Saigo and Okubo, who built the foundation of Japan. Next time you come to Kagoshima, please try the Kake Udon on the Sakurajima Ferry😋 And the shaved ice recommended by locals is Yanagikori near Tenmonkan! It's fluffy and delicious😋
Hi there, I'm thinking of moving to Kagoshima. How do you think as a citizen there? Does the fact that the volcano is super active, erupting almost daily make you want to live elsewhere?
Your opinion on Sakurajima's volcano is cute 😊 For example, if you live in the downtown area of Kagoshima City... Tenmonkan area, you may encounter 2-3 ashfalls in the summer. But there is no chance of encountering ashfall in the winter. The wind direction affects it. I don't recommend moving to Kanoya City because there is a lot of ashfall, so you will be concerned. I think the security in Kagoshima City and Miyazaki City is top-level in Japan. Even if you are a woman and you walk alone late at night, you will be able to return home safely. Also, the cost of living is the cheapest in Japan. The trouble for you is that it's a rural town, so there are few people who can speak English. But there are communities from each country, so don't worry. I think there are jobs. Both Kagoshima City and Miyazaki City are tourist destinations, so there are many foreign tourists. If you have any questions about Kagoshima City, I can answer them all because it's the city I've lived in since I was born 😊
I have visited Japan 4 times now and first impressions are an amazing Country, it goes without saying the food is wonderful. My last trip was a layover on the way to Naha, Okinawa for 2 weeks. Love your content Jessica.
We’ve been to Japan 18 times but still haven’t made it to Kyushu lol - yeah I know it’s almost embarrassing.. but in June we’re going back and maybe maybe some Kyushu this time. So thanks for inspiration- Kagoshima is probably top of our Kyushu list.
@@JessicaMiyukiArt we’re probably not gonna do Fukuoka though. It looks like a nice city but there is a certain “genericness” to these 2nd tier cities (Osaka, Nagoya, Kobe, Sapporo etc) when you’ve done most of them. I like them but looking for something slightly different for just a few days. Kagoshima seems somewhat different and yeah that volcano of course. Neither of us have a driver’s license- otherwise we would have traveled around Miyazaki. Anyways I enjoy your videos and I’ll definitely gonna be back and check the Fukuoka one.
I know what you mean, the bigger cities start feeling familiar. But I did find Fukuoka's beaches a nice change from what I'm used to growing up in the Tokyo / Kanagawa area. Also Kagoshima has way more things to do than what I had time for, so I'm sure you'd enjoy your time there! The Welcome Cute Pass has unlimited public transit rides for a day or two (ferry, bus, trams, etc) and if I knew about it earlier I would have gotten that haha.
I live in Kagoshima. It looks like maybe you arrived at Chuo Station and not Kagoshima Station (which is close to the ferry). Dinosaur park has seen better days😅 but Sakurajima is totally recommended.
Ohhhh you're right, I took the shinkansen from Miyazaki so it did stop at Chuo station. I guess there were a few strange bugs and paint chipping at the dinosaur park but I thought it was so creative and cute! I wish I spent more time in Kagoshima, there were so many places I wanted to see!
@@JessicaMiyukiArt Oops... Shinkansen doesn't run from Miyazaki. Kagoshima Chuo Station is the big one with the Shinkansen, shopping mall and the Ferris wheel on top. APA Hotel is behind it. Kagoshima Station is quite small and at the end of the streetcar line. Near the ferries. Looks like you picked a great time to visit. Lovely clear skies. You wouldn't want to be here now. The highs EVERY DAY this week are 34C and 35C. Lows are 27C. And the humidity is crushing.
@@wendyon4517 wow I'm such a space cadet I meant the long distance train! I made a whole video about it and already forgot hahaha the shinkansen was from chuo to fukuoka. And I've been hearing Japan is getting crazy hot this year!! so konbini ice cream sales have skyrocketed haha
Cool video. I was in Kagoshima last October and we visited where they filmed a scene from the James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice. Also visited the Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots, very interesting museum. I’ll be back in Kagoshima this November.
I'm really enjoying your videos on your trips to Japan! My father and I are going to Japan in April (he was born and raised there). I hope to see the beaches there.
Oh how fun!! April is a great time to go, right before the crowds get crazy and the weather is typically pretty mild, can be a bit cold on certain days but not humid. I hope you have a great trip!
@@JessicaMiyukiArt Yeah, your video editing skills so nice! I like it! Have a fun Japan trip. I want you to share lesser-known the attractions of Japan with the world!
I like the vibes of your journey. That Ekiben looks so nice, by the way🤤; if you have a chance to get Ekiben in the Kansai region, I recommend ひっぱりだこ飯, which is from Akashi in Hyogo prefecture. Hope you will like it!!!!

I have a whole Kyushu trip planned out for next year! It will be my third time to Japan. I’m starting by flying into Kagoshima and then going to Kumamoto for stopover on the way to Fukuoka, spending a bunch of time there with day trips out to places, and then onto Nagasaki and then to Hiroshima. I look forward to seeing what you do!
Fukuoka was SO fun! Can't wait to upload the video once I finish it. And wow what a Kyushu trip!! It sounds amazing, hopefully I can show you some ideas for Fukuoka too :)
