I went there in winter a few years ago. Sitting with the foot baths on sakurajima overlooking the city with a random homeless cat sitting on my lap. Easily my favourite city I went to.
I stayed at Kagoshima for 1 night on my way to Yakushima, but immediately thought I'm gonna come back here and stay a bit longer. The vibes were very chill.
I would always pick Kagoshima if I should go to Japan, I not just love the Shimazu clan and their legends, but it's also quite tropical there, it has a different social climate and has a lot of nature
I've been there. As soon as you exit the Sakura Shinkansen take the Ferris wheel at the JR station and view the entire city. It was very cheap. Kagoshima is also known for it's onsen public baths . And yes, the people are very kind. Excellent review.
Yes! Theres a bus at the airport that will take you to the city for under 10 dollars. When you leave the airport its waiting right outside, you'll pay at the kiosk in front of the buses. When you need to get back to the airport you'll wait at the terminal across the street from Aeon mall where you can pay in cash or ticket! Enjoy your time in Kagoshima!
You definitely want to stay near Kagoshima in a airbnb in Aira city called Mirkiro's Place. Its a beautiful place with great hosts who are so welcoming and friendly.
Do you think if i lived there as a foreigner that taught English, I would get bored or find it a boring city. I don't plan on renting a car. How's the public transportation ? Thanks !
The public transportation is great! Its a slower pace of life but its very very beautiful and calm. If you like excitement you can go to osaka or kyoto quickly on the Shinkansen.
I hate it when people state "the most"", as if they had seen all the alternatives. Anyway, to be fair you should mention that as for the castle, it's only the main gate that you see, otherwise the rests are ruins. Also you don't mention the Sengan-en garden, a Unesco World Culture Heritage Site, problably the major attraction in the city.
Hey thanks for your comment! I did go to the Sengan-en garden, i didnt include it because the video was getting too long and it's already super popular. I spent about a month in Kagoshima so I saw a good amount of the city and surrounding country side while there.
Look at that scenery! It's so beautiful!
Its gorgeous! It looks even better in person!
@@chysolo I want to go! I just hope the weather isn't gloomy by autumn season

Okinawa is also subtropical :)) Don't forget the little guy
Okinawa is a bit too hot for me! Haha
鹿児島は和牛と黒豚、茶の産地であり、さつまいもと焼酎の生産も盛んです。
また温泉の数も日本有数であり、観光地化に遅れを取っておりますが良質な温泉を楽しめます。
