Food pushed on you everywhere you go! Cant go play cards, visit someone, stay after church for fellowship, etc without somebody insisting you eat. Love your daily videos. ❤️
Yes, eating late , #5, has also made me gain weight. I have sugar spikes after eating. Thought it was hunger and would eat a dessert late. This was my pancreas releasing insulin into the bloodstream. Not hunger. Type 2 diabetes issue I have. It is under control now. Many great books out now. Look for Dr Peter Attia, MD and another book by Casey Means, MD. Both published in last few years. Congratulations on losing 28 lbs! Keep going! Yes, sleep/rest is also most important. Getting off computers/phones that give us blue lights for hours daily interrupts our circadian rhythm that is our sleep pattern. I now have a sleep routine. I turn off devices early in evening most days. Great show! Stalwart
Fantastic topic ! I agree with every single point. I'm from the era before there were ANY overweight folks. Looking at my class picture (50 kids, 1953, at age 10). There was not a single overweight person, including the three teacher's aids. There also was not a single fast food business, it was not invented yet. Everything was whole and from scratch. I'm 5'2". Weighed 98 lbs. all my life, and was never thinking about food. It also was a non-existent thought for the entire country that was not overweight.. Now my story... In 1980 I bought a liquor store. The hours were 8am to 10pm, and I worked every single minute (otherwise stuff starts walking out the door). So ! Getting home at 10:30 pm everything is closed, so I would pick up a hamburger (and drop off the receipts in the night deposit). Well! let me tell you. From that very second I gained weight like nobody's business, and blossomed up to 190 lbs. without overeating (just the single burger and a small fry). It was just as if an evil switch was turned on. Now I'm thinking more and more, all of our foods now have "forever chemicals" that we can not get rid of, which makes our bodies react and swell up fighting these forever chemicals. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is talking a lot about straightening out the food industry. Look at the food pyramid, FDA (which is run by the food industry) has cold cereal as the number one food we are supposed to be eating. WHAT ? That's nuts. So all in all, all of this weight struggling and gaining is not our fault, it is the horrible quality of food that is offered to us by the food industry (begining at the farms). I hope RFK gets some where. Until then, we have to struggle to try not to buy anything that comes in a package.
There's one thing that you missed, IMHO. The rise of manufactured food. There are numerous sensors in your gut to detect nutrients and protein. When you don't eat enough nutrients (especially protein) your body will continue to be hungry - even if you just stuffed yourself. You don't get the signal, "Hey, we're short on protein, can you please eat an egg?" Nope. you just stay hungry. Fast food and pre-packaged foods are VERY nutrient depleted. Therefore, you can eat thousands of calories and STILL feel hungry! This is deliberate food engineering on the part of food manufacturers. They WANT you to be hungry, so you'll consume more of their products! Manufactured food is engineered to by hyper-palatable and unsatisfying so you'll buy more. In addition, food manufacturers have lobbied - and gotten - LOTS of labelling loopholes and use lots of mumbo-jumbo synonyms to hide what they put in the food. The US has banned 11 additives, the EU and Japan have banned more than 1,100. Maybe all the scientists and food safety authorise in Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan are all just nervous nellies; OR perhaps we have a corrupt system that's geared to help out the manufacturers and not the public. The rate of obesity in this country EXACTLY matches the rate of manufactured food consumption. I didn't lose weight until I gave up manufactured foods and started eating the way I did when I was growing up: real food cooked from scratch. I think the corruption of our food supply has a much bigger impact than social acceptance and normalization of obesity ever did (although the normalization of obesity certainly plays a part). Just a thought.
Linda - this is a brilliantly-argued point of view. It’s not just in the U.S.though - I live in Australia where the situation is very similar. Getting back to basics like moving more and cooking from scratch, would go a long way to fighting this epidemic of obesity and resultant ill-health. Unfortunately vested interests ie. the food industry and big pharma fight tooth and nail to maintain their positions. We are left to harden our resolve and do what’s best for ourselves as individuals. Imagine how much better it could all be…. Best wishes.
Im 100% carnivore. I started on the first of January. I weighed 248 lbs. Im 5' 11" tall male. Im down to 189 lbs now. I eat once a day. Usually before 07:00 am. I eat 1 lb of hamburger, and sometimes i throw a couple eggs in it. If i want a snack sometimes during the day, i eat a couple hard boiled eggs. Your body will adjust to the 1 time a day eating. Society and drs say you must eat 3 meals a day. They sell a lot of food that way! On sundays i cook a nice steak to eat. I only have 14 more lbs to go to hit my desired weight of 175 lbs! My goal is to hit that by the end of the year! The carnivore diet works for me. I feel great, and really happy with myself. Great video!!!
Another great video!! And stress definitely can cause you to over eat, especially if you don’t have another outlet to relieve your stress such as exercising or something
I eat a carnivore diet and im not obese very healthy. My day is butter fried eggs and cheeseburger and bacon - no sugar bread pasta I also do bullet coffee with MCT oil and butter I am 5 foot 5 and 150lbs ❤
Not getting proper sleep. Even eating late feeds into sleep quality. While one might be a person who eats late that doesn’t directly affect weight, poor sleep may lead to poor food decision making the following day.
I totally agree we have to many choices and food is so available! We have to be intentional and do so much on purpose even eating.. it’s so sad but true 😊💜😊
I’m 5’5” and right prior to my work injuries I was 124 pounds. Size 4/6. After my injuries and sedentary lifestyle for many years I got up to 175. I was so uncomfortable. My knees hurt, my lower back hurt. I was on 7 different meds. I woke up one morning and said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Went cold turkey on all my meds. I’m down to 155. I’d like to get down to 135 😊 I’ve cut out sugar, no snacking after supper. Protein packed, less than 20g net carbs per day. And I’m staying active. Only on 1 med for my neck pain. Need another surgery. But otherwise I’m doing good. No junk food ! Cut that out and we’ll all be a healthier nation 😊👍🏻🙏🏻 Ps… I was 44 years old at the time of my injuries. I’m 58 now
I hope people don't read this and go cold turkey on prescriptions. If I stopped my heart, thyroid, and water pill, I would swell and die. If you have a bad lifestyle and take meds for it, then maybe getting parental with yourself and doing right works. Otherwise, this is very bad advice without talking to a Dr first.
Great video! I think you are spot on! I would also add that our food supply has been so manipulated. All of our grains have been hybridized for larger, more pest resistant yields. Also all of the herbicides that are used routinely for weed control etc. have made it into our water supply. Not only do we eat that junk, but the animals eat it too, and we eat them. I truly think this has a negative impact on our weight and health. Also, along with drinking more calories, it’s also very socially acceptable now to drink alcohol ALL THE TIME. Glasses of wine every evening, is a norm now that didn’t exist when I was growing up in the 70’s.
There's nothing like the voice of experience, Dawn - you know what you're talking about way more than some of the 'experts' who have never walked this path. Thank you :)
I lost 85 lbs a few years ago through fasting, low carb, and no calorie drinks. I grew up in the 70’s. A large drink was maybe 10-12 ounces. I emotionally eat. I was taught to clean my plate. I think food will always be a struggle for me. Thank you for sharing this topic
So true! Growing up we never thought about food. It was eat what Mom cooked or do without! Lol. On the very rare occasion my Dad would bring home Pepsi or some ice cream and it was such a treat! Such a great time.
28 lbs! Wow, Dawn! Excellent!!! ❤ I've been weighing myself more lately because I'm trying to lose weight, and I'm down 12 lbs now. 🙂 I love to snack at night. But I've changed my snack to carrot sticks and celery mostly. My weight gain was too many calories and being stuck sick in bed. That's getting better, thank God... but my husband still treats me like when I was very sick and tries to do everything for me. He does smile and points out when I'm doing something I wasn't able to do, and that's so sweet. It sounds sort of funny, though, because they're such little things like... Look, you were able to grab that with your left hand! See how you were able to get out of that chair without help! I couldn't even put my socks on without being on the right stool at home. I'm sure the weight loss will help with feeling better, too! 😊👍
You have some of the best common sense I've heard in years! I was born in 1954 so I have experienced a lot of the community ideas you shared. THANK YOU! Please keep going.
I think a lot of it has to do with processed foods. Even in the case of things like chicken... we used to roast a chicken that might not have been all that plump. Now we have factory style farm raised chickens shot full of antibiotics and then cooked rotisserie style , ie. injected with a saline solution, that includes flavorings and sweeteners. And that's just one example.. All the junk food, candy, pizza (have you ever looked at all the artificial ingredients in a frozen or chain restaurant crust?!), cookies, corn chips, etc. It is a stretch even calling it "food". It is more properly termed a factory produced edible substance. It's no wonder we are fat and sick.
You absolutely nailed it. So ... Keep doing what you know to be best for you, and in just ( fill in the blank - Years ) you will be in much better condition !
Very thoughtful and helpful video on a complex topic! It's great that you can so be so tactful and non judgmental! I also agree with you that the world has changed a LOT, especially since I grew up in the 1950's.
You made excellent points. I’d love to pass this wisdom along to some friends but they have to discover for themselves unfortunately. Thank you for your valuable insight.
Timely content, Dawn. Thanks! My weight has slowly been creeping up so I'm back to being more of a disciplinarian and less of a mindless muncher. Portion control is key. BEST kitchen utensils I ever bought were serving spoons sized for 1/2 cup and 1 cup portions and a scale to weigh my proteins out.
It’s a steady feed of salt, corn syrup and sugar to make people feel happy eating the yummy cheap stuff. It’s all a part of the commercial machine- eat poorly? Who benefits in a society without healthcare for all? Food deserts, purposeful. Food in plastic bags, taking choice away. People are fat for many reasons- marketing is a huge part for our whole lives.
Eating late at night is proven to disrupt your sleep cycle, and additionally, to interrupt your body’s natural healing process. When you’re in deep REM sleep, your body does a healing and cleansing process, but when that energy is directed toward digesting, it interrupts that healing process (which is why often eating late at night leaves you feeling so tired the next morning). Also, it’s proven that peak digestion occurs when the sun is at the highest point in the sky (noontime). Also interesting to note (as spoken about by Dr. Matthew Walker in the book “Why We Sleep”), that several studies took place in which people who had disrupted or no sleep made WORSE diet choices the following day. But people with quality REM sleep make healthier choices when presented with the same foods. Just some food for thought 😉
Congratulations on your continued weight loss! You're inspiring! It takes discipline to lose weight. I'm sorely lacking in that department, and I snack at night. I'm trying to cut that out of my routine. I'm trying to be more mindful and disciplined with my diet to help with my weight loss journey. Thanks for the tips and encouragement! Love to all, Linda 💕
Dawn, you know you hit the nail on the head! When we were growing up, we could not snack. Our mother actually cooked our food! Sure, we would sneak and eat candy, like when I see your blue cake I would think, "it would be nice to have a slice of that!" 😋 Other than that; we had to wait until dinner to get cake and ice cream, and it was a treat! Snacking was so easy to do at school! We shared with our friends chips and candy! When the ice cream truck came down the street! 🍦😅 Mr. Softee! We played outside til dinner too! There were no fast food restraunts buildings on every corner! No poisonous food is imported into us! I could go on and on! Farmers were healthier! They worked long hours but lived past 100!! Dawn, I've done what you have done on my one meal, but snacking on vegetables and fruits and nuts and water throughout the day! Getting in those 8 hours of sleep is a plus; regardless of when you sleep! Less screen time, too! Which led to my eye problems, but my Optical Dept. is on it! Exercise by walking or trimming your bushes to keep down your stress is good! 🎊Dawn, congrats on your 28 pounds down!! Keep it up!! 🎉🎉🎈🎉 The interest rate went down ,50% today! Call your credit card companies to decrease what you are paying!! Good topic, Dawn! Until next time! 😅🤗💙💖💚
Just shop online for pick up....this solves problems. Don't use grocery shopping as an outing or experience. . a quick in and out and only with a list and shopping of outer isles only. All processed food in center isles.
Yep. I save tons basing our meals off of mainly dried goods that I buy in bulk and vegetables I grew myself. Once a week we go to the farmers market for eggs and dairy, possibly a little meat) Once a year, I place a Walmart order for cleaning and household supplies ( The pink stuff, detergents, trash bags) and try to avoid the big box grocery stores at all costs. Shopping isn't fun. Doesn't always work. Last month was a 2am trip for tomato juice and multiple bottles of hydrogen peroxide. I'm sure you can guess why... 😮
Congrats on your weight loss! It is a never-ending commitment, that's for sure. I am 70 years old and grew up at a time when our diets consisted of just basic unprocessed foods without all the added sugars and salt. We always had a garden and my mother did a lot of freezing and canning. I didn't have my first slice of pizza until I went to college. As a special treat on our birthdays, we could have hot dogs, chips and root beer floats- we though THAT was quite a big deal! We were also far more active, just in the course of every day life. We had regular outside chores, etc. Now, being long past menopause, I really have to work on smaller portions, eating foods that as close to nature as possible, not eating out, and not eating after 6:00PM. I have a routine of walking at least 2 miles every day. Ten pounds can sneak up on you before you know it! When my pants start feeling snug, I know it's time to rein things in. (The Weight Watchers list of zero point foods is a help.)
Gosh, Dawn!, I could have written this list! You are spot on with everything you have said! One of the best videos, yet! Fantastic job. Keep 'em coming! Love your channel.
Good analysis. I however have never been able to figure out why I am overweight other than I do like bread and pasta. If I cut out sugar and carbs completely I can lose. As a child I was unhappy and I ate too much. As a result I was overweight in elementary school and gained after the age of 6. In HS I got the flu and lost 12 lbs. which gave me incentive to keep going. I basically ate almost nothing, no breakfast, an orange for lunch and a small dinner. I went from 130 to 105. When I got pregnant with my first child at age 26 I weighed 117 at 5' 2". ( I have a long torso, so I call myself a 5'5" woman with short arms and legs.) With each child I gained weight I could not lose. Then middle age hit and I put on more weight. Today I could stand to lose 30 - 40 lb. but it doesn't happen. I keep no snacks in the house, drink nothing but water and black coffee, eat my first meal at 2, don't eat out, do all of my own housework, take care of a large garden and 1 acre yard, and never crave food. In fact I don't know what it feels like to be hungry. There are no cakes, pies, or donuts in my house. I do snack on dark chocolate and nuts occasionally, but not that much. The sweets I like are dried fruits like mangos, apricots, prunes, and blueberries. Last week I was in Canada and spent everyday hiking. I get on the scale and nothing ever changes more than 1 or 2 lbs. up or down. I have finally given up trying to lose weight. At 79 I have 0 health issues, knock on wood, so I am grateful for that.
Just my opinion , from my own experience , I think people gain weight at night, when they eat , because they don't have enough time to burn off the calories. I understand that some people work or exercise at night , that would be different.
I agree, I only eat a big meal after 7 on a Sunday night every other weekend, but my daughter and I go to Walmart after we eat, we walk for hours, the next day I'm at a circumference of 35 and not a 40.
Born in 1964.. when I got home from school I was able to get a small snack because we ate dinner at 5.. we had to make sure that we would eat our food .
I hate that you were bullied. It’s that type of behavior that leads many young girls to develop eating disorders. I’m not saying that we should pretend that it’s healthy, but instead we need to stop thinking it’s our job to correct anyone. Instead those who are “healthy” (note: I didn’t say skinny”) could share what they are doing to encourage and inspire others to join them.
excellent points. When I was growing up there was not any fast food places in our town. My whole family were normal weight. Fast forward 1 year after a McDonald's was placed in our town and my whole family began to gain weight. Congratulations Dawn on your weight loss.
I remember in a comment section somewhere somebody said that when they watched my 800 lb life, or whatever that was, that people took big bites when they were overweight. So maybe its chew chew and take smaller bites too.
I’m down 66 lbs so far…went out to eat for grandson’s birthday at a popular steak house. Ordered smallest steak, got 2 full meals out of a tiny steak, mashed potatoes and corn. Huge portions in restaurants
I want to enjoy my life 55 years old I basically eat what I want and just try to have smaller portions am 7 kilograms overweight and steady at this weight..I love my food and am just going to enjoy my favourite things..life is too short 😮
You are doing fantastic!! Yep, all of the above. The whole sugar drink phenomena is interesting. I walked down the "Coke" aisle at the store I've only been to a few times yesterday and I did notice the entire aisle of colorful bottles. Lots of Spanish brands I have no idea what but most of it so colorful just like the energy drinks. I wondered if those drinks would be so popular if they were all clear. Basically all of it is colored artificially flavored sugar water. All drink aisles in every store should be labeled Colorful Sugar Water:) And yes I love Cokes. I remember the first thing I'd get out of the machine after church was Strawberry (don't recall the brand) because my parent's only ever bought actual Coke or Sprite. When Mountain Dew came out, it was rare we had it.
I think it is not more acceptable to be overweight it is that health care officials do not want to be accused of anything. Their job is to maintain health not worry about being called out for upsetting the now delicate fat blossoms.....
Snacking for sure. Kids eat more sweets with sugar and junk food with little value and more salt. I taught elementary school and what was in lunch boxes was horrible nitrition wise. You could not say anything at all to parents or kids. Many overweight kids coming into schools.
I remember my friend Heather said that she was an obese child, and she ended up having to wear adult clothes because the clothes for her age group didn't fit her. 😢 Which was just one more thing that made her unpopular with her age group on top of being overweight.
When I was a kid we only had sodas if it was a celebration or family reunions. And we had 3 meals and we had until 8 o clock to have a bowl of ice cream no later than 8
I have an app that counts the calories in the food I eat. What an eye opener, you are right , people would be shocked if they really counted ,even for one day,all the calories they eat.
1 of the worst things is the volume of sodas taken. I never buy sodas or processed foods. For snacks I have fruit. I budget for 1 piece of fruit a day plus about 6 to 8 large grapes. I make a fruit salad from 2 or 3 days allowance, sometimes cut up a few pieces and add to jelly (gelatine,) from time to time, rarely, make mini muffins with sultanas.....but usually the natural fruit is fine.
We don’t eat real food. We don’t eat at home. We eat way too many carbs. We eat too often. We eat our emotions. Take this from someone who was once 80 pounds overweight. And was overweight till I was in my early 60’s. Did it myself. The last 40 pounds came off in 2018. Kept all but 6 off for 6 years. After decades of doing it all wrong.
Terrible doctors don't want to "offend" people, other people don't want to "offend" people... its one of the major ills of our society that contributes to A LOT of problems.
I think it may have begun with the mandate of "three meals a day." The body rests/heals during longer periods without food. And three meals a day has turned into eating 6 times a day!
Don't fall for advertising consumerism fruit pop corn crackers are snacks salad protein sandwiches for lunch porridge for breakfast meat potato two vegies bt3af and butter for dinner
Sadly that happened to me when I was a young adult . At around age 15 I was about 105!pounds but sadly by around my 20’s , I went up & my main doctor kept pushing me to loose weight & to once again only weight 105 because of my short height
Did you say more snacks is less weight? Because every time you eat, you teach your body to want food. Now my daughter did it, and was skinny, but she was hangry. I found watching my sodium daily helped me lose or maintain. I have to avoid the restaurant food. I also read labels for sodium while grocery shopping.
For me, eating while sitting at my computer has been my downfall. I don't exercise like I used to. So many you tube videos interest me, and not much on TV that I care to watch, so here i sit. Shame on me...
I think some of it is calorie density. 100 calories of an apple and 100 calories of a cookie look a whole lot different on a plate. If you go for the cookie, your not going to be satisfied because physically, it's not filling your stomach like the apple would. It takes 20 minutes for the hormones your brain needs to be produced to get the signal your no longer hungry. In that time, you could have eaten 10x the amount calories in cookies than of apples. We eat high fiber lower calorie foods that take time to digest for the majority of our needs. Then, if I want a cookie, I am happy with one. This week, cry babies. The favorite cookie of our 5th president, James Monroe. Very flavorful soft molasses cookie. Exploring baked goods from before chocolate was common.
I never call anyone any names as I have been bullied in school for many years....but I would like to say that many of us do need to stop eating late night. That can put on alot of weight...I've tried it n it works. I use to eat late at night and to add on to insult I was eating alot of sugar which wasn't good....amd went up to 275 but when I cut sugar out of my mouth I went down to 209.....so it dors depend on what u put in yr mouth which will depend on what yr weight will be. I'm just saying.....😊😊😊😅😅😅
I want to lose 40 pounds and it won't be fast or easy. I have arthritis in my hips and knees and just walking a block while using a quad cane is painful and tiring and I'm soon to be checked for heart trouble. I mourn for how I used to be able to walk for miles without difficulty, but I have to deal with the circumstances of today. I'm drinking a lot more water and am getting back to eating at certain times and am eating better quality food. I've also been learning about low-impact, low-stress exercises that can be done at home and even sitting down.
I agree with Dawn's comment: I've seen both chair yoga & chair qi gong. Best of luck with your health issues & your weight loss. I deeply resonate with you mourning the loss of the way you were. Life can be very challenging but never give up on yourself.
I, too, succumbed to an incurable disease that causes extreme pain daily. 4 years ago I was walking great distances daily, actively working etc. Now I can only be up on my feet 9 minutes at a time. I too mourn my old self. It gets so depressing. I don't know how to lose the weight that I gained from my medication and lack of excercise. In 2011 I lost 246 pounds after bariatric surgery Now the scale shows my weight increased. Swelling throughout my body. Can anyone suggest how I can bring this weight gain to a halt and lose this extra weight? My meals are small because of the surgery, I eat 95% healthy fresh food. I can't eat sugar and don't buy processed food. What do I do? My suggestion...... If the processed food isn't brought into the house you won't eat it.
@terrybazin8067 I'm so sorry! Ask your doctor for recommendations, maybe a special diet, I don't know. If you are under the care of pain management, perhaps they can prescribe physical therapy or water aerobics. Don't give up hope!
IMHO, Americans eat way too much food! They just do. If everyone cut their meals in half and eat the other half the next day, they would lose weight. I'm older now and if I buy take out, I portion it out when I get home. I can get 2 to 4 meals out of one take out order!!! And I'm not hungry!!! Eat healthy food and eat smaller portions!!! Believe me, you will lose weight and you won't be hungry. I was brought up eating dinner at 9:00 pm. Eat before 6:00 pm. I eat a small breakfast when I get up and I eat my 2nd meal around 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. That's it. I also like to snack so if I get through the day with my breakfast and late lunch and I'm still a little hungry before I go to bed, I'll have 2-3 ice cold watermelon spears. Delicious! Takes the edge off and I sleep like a baby. We all just have to stop thinking that a 12" plate piled high with food is not too much! It is too much! It might be good for a farmer who has been working hard in the hot sun all day or a steel worker busting his tail in a hot factory all day. But is is way too much for a person who works in a cubicle all day staring at a screen! BTW, congrats on your weight loss!
I think people are obese because they eat too much. I think people eat calories dense processed foods. . Snacks don’t have to be full of sugar and calories. I’ve seen what people buy for snacks. What’s wrong with eating a banana. When we were growing up we was not allowed to eat what my parents called clats . Thats Lincolnshire for junk food. What people in the US call snacky foods Lincolnshire is a county on the east coast of England. Will you be able too live the rest of of your life eating only one meal a day . I think you’ve done extremely well loosing weight. I’m over weight for my height I’m 160cm and weigh 67kg The practice nurse said my diet is healthy so not too worry
Sit down quitely give Grace watch what your eat here up in the hills there lots of physical work walking to get bread and milk down Jill to Aldi's then back up hill home broom for sleeping Manuel house work it an old 1950 home up in hills there is loss of community togetherness though
Its not just only 'self-control'. There is science supporting that obesity is a medical condition and needs to be treated as such. Not a moral 'have more self discipline). And also, the food is much much different from what it was. Whats being allowed to be added to food should be criminal. An 'obese' person from 20 years ago is nothing compared to now -
@@l.e.sparklesfkaelliesparkl5875 I agree about what's in our food. Americans are some of the most overweight and sick people in the world. That's why people need to get back to eating less processed food and less meals out and focus more on cooking wholesome meals at home from fresh ingredients. Eating out used to be a rare thing. Restaurant portion sizes are double what they should be, and a fast-food meal has all the calories we should be eating in an entire day. A coffee drink can have as many calories as a dessert. Also, people seem to have more of a sedentary lifestyle now. They sit a lot in front of a computer for work and leisure time. Long commutes in the car too. People hire out lawn care and housekeeping. Cooking, doing yardwork, and cleaning the house were all things my family did growing up (with a single mom) and we still do. I understand that some people have medical conditions, but many health and weight problems can be resolved with a proper diet and more activity.
Food pushed on you everywhere you go!
Cant go play cards, visit someone, stay after church for fellowship, etc without somebody insisting you eat.
Love your daily videos. ❤️
so true
Yes, eating late , #5, has also made me gain weight. I have sugar spikes after eating. Thought it was hunger and would eat a dessert late. This was my pancreas releasing insulin into the bloodstream. Not hunger. Type 2 diabetes issue I have. It is under control now.
Many great books out now. Look for Dr Peter Attia, MD and another book by Casey Means, MD. Both published in last few years.

Excellent comment
This is exactly what I've been reading about. Really sad. Those same food companies are the ones that provide the "medicine" when it makes you sick😢
@@BackroadMoney Yes! A sick population is a customer for life.
💯!
The blue cake thumbnail always makes me laugh. You’re so awesome.
HAHA! I agree. If ever a thumbail sums up Dawn's positivity and fun loving spirit it is that one.
That blue cake always looks nasty to me. 😂
I am so happy for you!!!
Another great video!! And stress definitely can cause you to over eat, especially if you don’t have another outlet to relieve your stress such as exercising or something
Stress is what does it for me. I get upset about anything, I'm instantly wanting pure junk food.
So true!
Totally agree.
I’d like to get down to 135 😊
I’ve cut out sugar, no snacking after supper. Protein packed, less than 20g net carbs per day. And I’m staying active. Only on 1 med for my neck pain. Need another surgery. But otherwise I’m doing good. No junk food ! Cut that out and we’ll all be a healthier nation 😊👍🏻🙏🏻
Ps… I was 44 years old at the time of my injuries. I’m 58 now
That's wonderful how you have that determination, and yes I can relate to the back pain. Have a wonderful day Cj.🌹
You're an inspiration to me, CJ! I love your comments! 🙂👍❤️
You're very disciplined and will make your goal!
You are my inspiration
Keto diet lifestyle is an answer to this 😊 little change, massive weight loss.
It does work fast

Great topic as usual Dawn - and, Wow, you are doing great with your weight loss!!
Thank you
Everything you have talked about makes sense
I lost 85 lbs a few years ago through fasting, low carb, and no calorie drinks. I grew up in the 70’s. A large drink was maybe 10-12 ounces. I emotionally eat. I was taught to clean my plate. I think food will always be a struggle for me. Thank you for sharing this topic
Great job!
Dawn, you are right on with All of your comments. You give wise advance. I enjoy watching you. Have a wonderful day. 😊

So true! Growing up we never thought about food. It was eat what Mom cooked or do without! Lol. On the very rare occasion my Dad would bring home Pepsi or some ice cream and it was such a treat! Such a great time.

28 lbs! Wow, Dawn! Excellent!!! ❤
I've been weighing myself more lately because I'm trying to lose weight, and I'm down 12 lbs now. 🙂
I love to snack at night.
Your husband is so sweet to be encouraging. It's wonderful that you're improving. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Great advice
Congratulations on your weight loss-that is wonderful!! 🎉 And thank you for sharing your insight!! ❤
Thank you so much!
True.
I do eat late at night because my schedule makes me hungry!
Your reasons sound correct.
Just some food for thought 😉
so true
Congratulations on your continued weight loss! You're inspiring! It takes discipline to lose weight. I'm sorely lacking in that department, and I snack at night. I'm trying to cut that out of my routine. I'm trying to be more mindful and disciplined with my diet to help with my weight loss journey. Thanks for the tips and encouragement! Love to all, Linda 💕
As long as I can keep it off
Dawn, you know you hit the nail on the head! When we were growing up, we could not snack. Our mother actually cooked our food! Sure, we would sneak and eat candy, like when I see your blue cake I would think, "it would be nice to have a slice of that!" 😋
Other than that; we had to wait until dinner to get cake and ice cream, and it was a treat!

Just shop online for pick up....this solves problems. Don't use grocery shopping as an outing or experience. . a quick in and out and only with a list and shopping of outer isles only. All processed food in center isles.
That's so true. We went to grocery store for 1 buy/get item, unfortunately we left the store with 12 items. They were not all healthy.
You are so right
Congrats on your weight loss. I know a few folks that do the one meal a day and really like it.
Excellent points and we DO drink a lot of calories!
Snacking is a big reason!

I love dried fruit. It's sooo easy to eat too much... like mangos..or apricots..
I know each of us are different. I wish you the best on your health journey.
Some children gain a little extra before puberty. Nagging them to lose will set them up for a lifetime of disordered eating.

Thank you for your kindness 🙏
excellent points. When I was growing up there was not any fast food places in our town. My whole family were normal weight. Fast forward 1 year after a McDonald's was placed in our town and my whole family began to gain weight. Congratulations Dawn on your weight loss.

Excellent comment
I'm glad Heather had you as a good friend.

people would be shocked if they really counted ,even for one day,all the calories they eat.

Life has changed with quick fixes press of buttons food availability snacking
Congratulations on your weight loss
Holy mackerel
Terrible doctors don't want to "offend" people, other people don't want to "offend" people... its one of the major ills of our society that contributes to A LOT of problems.
I think it may have begun with the mandate of "three meals a day." The body rests/heals during longer periods without food. And three meals a day has turned into eating 6 times a day!
I agree

That is so cruel

This is why I love OMAD

Good for you taking charge of your weight loss! Exercise will be difficult for you; however, you'll feel better with every pound loss.
I sometimes do chair exercises
I so agree

Hi Dawn
Hi
Serving sizes are too large and ingredients chemicals flavours preservatives that harm our bodies
You have to have self-control if you don't want to be overweight
For sure
