I think using Xvarts for a new, Level 1 campaign with veteran players would be a nice change of pace from Kobolds, Orcs, and Goblins. Ending a quest by confronting or going up against Raxivort or his followers/minions would definitely be fun! Great video. I enjoyed it, thank you!

By the time I got it, I was playing WoW and had gotten away from the turn based. I would go back but I just don't have much desire to play those games anymore. They were fun back then.

I've been meaning to do an Xmas oneshot this year. Just standard Santa being kidnapped kind of thing (level one this year, maybe level 2 next year if it ends up being a hit). I am using gnomes as Santa's little helpers, and I was going to use goblins as their evil equivalents, but now I'm thinking I might just use Xvarts instead...
I'm running Phandelver and instead of Goblins I'm using Xvarts. Bugbears are Wererats/Xvart Warlocks. The BBEG is a massive swarm of Cranium Rats. Honestly this video is helping me a lot, reflavoring this campaign.

Massed attacks of little buggers is indeed deadly. L2 player party, just escaped from the uppermost layers of the underdark... ..we encountered some Goats, and one of our players spoke infernal to them in hopes that one was a demon. The DM, quite fairly, decided that goats would react badly to the evil sounding speach - and headbutted the character with one of the goats. Half the party decided to sit back and watch, the other half came to the defence of the idiot - and boy did those 12 goats nearly cream us. Amusingly it was my Kobold Bard who seemed to have the best luck against them, doding repeatedly while our big hitter got crit multiple times - by goats.
I could see a character catching one of them trying to pick his pocket, while it tries to run away the character reaches out and snatches it up by the scruff of its neck saying I got you you nasty little rabbit and proceeds to shake the hell out of the little bastard
The plot to "The One" is pretty simple. The energy provided to all the versions of any person is a finite amount evenly split between each version a person. Therefore if one version of a person dies the rest become stronger. Now under normal circumstances, this change is fairly small but the main villain realised that by jumping to alternate universes and killing the other versions of himself he could gain such a large share of said energy as to become superhuman. So he does just that.
I suppose the idea is only the villian was aware this was happening so was the only one who could learn to use it. Because it would be normal to explain away anything unnatural.
When i find nests of them,My deathmages and priests use "detect life" and "hear heartbeat" and Death spells and psionics to kill them quickly. Perhaps immortality awaits one of them!.....great story line man!
My (good) campaign is fighting a villain(? ...antagonist) seeking to surround the world in an antimagic shell. I've been looking for a magic-item collecting creature who'd want to protect the worth of their collection, and damn if this wouldn't be the worst sort of ally to offer the players. (I'm open to other suggestions that aren't quite as cruel as this)

You can't use divination spells to look for Raxivort since all Xvart's are clones of him and a divination spells looking for him will simply target the nearest Xvart, as all Xvart's are pretty much the same, all being clones of Raxivort. In addition to their physical similarity, Xvarts are also universally hated by all creatures, as everyone thinks their dirty little scum. Even Xvarts hate each other, with the only reason they don't turn on each other being Raxivort doesn't want them to. And that right there is how you might be able to find Raxivort. When I said that everyone hates Xvarts, even other Xvarts, that's not entirely true. One Xvart is hated somewhat less than the rest of them, and that's Raxivort. That's because, while the rest of the cosmos hates his guts, he is loved and adored by his Xvart clones. I propose creating a magical item of divination using the domains of gods of hatred and love that's absolutely useless outside of this case. In concept, it would operate like I'm sure a lot of other divination tools, if someone were to put a bit of the creature your looking for in the artifact, like hair, blood, or a bit of flesh, it would direct the user directly to you. You might say, "So what? If you put a bit of Xvart into the artifact, it just direct you to the nearest Xvart!" However, that's where this artifact is different and kind of useless. This artifact does not direct the user to that individual. Instead, it operates more like a compass that points North, but instead this magical item points in the direction of the "Most Loved/Least Hated" version of you. With your average individual, there's only one version of you, and that's you. If I were to put a bit of you in the artifact, it wouldn't respond, because there's only one version of you, and you are both the most loved and the most hated version of you. However, if you have multiple versions of yourself, it will point to the "Most Loved/Least Hated" version. This is where Raxivort messed up. No one can tell his Xvarts apart, because of which, the Universe's antipathy toward Raxivort and Xvarts should be distributed equally over all versions. I don't tend to worry too much about flanking unless it grants sneak attack benefits to rogues. Yes, I intend to cover Orcs, Orc gods and Warhammer 40K Orks (because they are one of my favourite races of all time).
I wonder if Dwarves ever get stricken with dwarfism? Even though this is pure fantasy (with souls and demons and adventurers who can hold 1000 gold coins in their pockets). I think it would be novel.

Now I'm wondering how this multiverse would be changed if the mirror Xvart (the Travx?) found their way in, also would Trovixar be more powerful than Raxivort due to the worship his clerics have founded around him?

AJ's videos helped me A LOT! IVE only been in DnD for about a year and a half but listening to AJs videos was far more efficient than reading because i could play it at work or at home while doing stuff around the house. Long story short. Only a few sessions in, I was able to role play so much better because the information in the vids gave me all of these leaping off points. For instance, i had no clue what a gnoll was until I wached AJs vids. The next week Gnolls were used by my DM and that knowledge allowed me to really get immersed and sound really convincing in my role playing. I had other players at the table ask me how long ive been gaming. When i said that it was like my 3rd session they were stunned.

This gives me so many ideas... so many ideas. creepy sociopath evil clone magical goblins, that are selfish beyond vengance. a real walking psychosis driver. 😈 this so reminds me of the main plot from the game styx.
AJ Pickett seriously the goblins weren't goblin enough for me to get it lol! but as for a campaign setting, raxivort ariving at a prime material plane would be just wonderfull, not for him & the xvart and even maybe a goblin and colbold alliance giving the party quest to help them rid the plane of the xvart as mercinarys in their genocidal war filled with wanton attrocities given the temptation, the party will feel to join in on the "fun", but all the extra planer beings and all powerfull entities trying to track raxivort and his jem down. and the share variety of means they would got too in their frantic attempt to get ahold of this thing. "cobolds get a dragon in to help them and the party to clear out a perticularly nasty group of xvarts and werewrats, its a steady victory... but what dragon doesn't secretly want god like power and infinite minions... raxivort would ofcourse suspect and be prepared for it, but not you, which your compotent adventuring skills... so, so much for your pesky little free will... then you make it to an in, in a frenzed nearly dead exhaused, wounded, starved and broken state from your mindless near suicidal search and the avatar of your own personal deity walks in the door... and "smiles"... oh no... god isn't going to save you." you could even throw in afew other hopelessly tramatized husks of ex adventures, who are will to do litterally "anything" to get the jem from raxivort, alluding to the future state of what the party will inevitably become. driven by both their greatest dreams and worst nightmares as beings beyond their mortal comprihension motivate them to achieve an impossible life ruining, soul withering, mind shattering feat.

Xvarts are the Minions from Despicable Me. I play them as much for comic relief as I do for cannon fodder.

This gives me so many ideas... so many ideas. creepy sociopath evil clone magical goblins, that are selfish beyond vengance. a real walking psychosis driver. 😈 this so reminds me of the main plot from the game styx.

AJ Pickett seriously the goblins weren't goblin enough for me to get it lol! but as for a campaign setting, raxivort ariving at a prime material plane would be just wonderfull, not for him & the xvart and even maybe a goblin and colbold alliance giving the party quest to help them rid the plane of the xvart as mercinarys in their genocidal war filled with wanton attrocities given the temptation, the party will feel to join in on the "fun", but all the extra planer beings and all powerfull entities trying to track raxivort and his jem down. and the share variety of means they would got too in their frantic attempt to get ahold of this thing. "cobolds get a dragon in to help them and the party to clear out a perticularly nasty group of xvarts and werewrats, its a steady victory... but what dragon doesn't secretly want god like power and infinite minions... raxivort would ofcourse suspect and be prepared for it, but not you, which your compotent adventuring skills... so, so much for your pesky little free will... then you make it to an in, in a frenzed nearly dead exhaused, wounded, starved and broken state from your mindless near suicidal search and the avatar of your own personal deity walks in the door... and "smiles"... oh no... god isn't going to save you." you could even throw in afew other hopelessly tramatized husks of ex adventures, who are will to do litterally "anything" to get the jem from raxivort, alluding to the future state of what the party will inevitably become. driven by both their greatest dreams and worst nightmares as beings beyond their mortal comprihension motivate them to achieve an impossible life ruining, soul withering, mind shattering feat.
