I love, love, love all of these ideas and your desire to have fun dancing and to look good doing it. I find it so important in adult ballet to wear what makes you happy and to embrace your body for what it can do and the beauty it is at in its current state. I know it can be hard for me being tall with a larger frame but this week in class I found such joy wearing a pull on skirt over my yoga pants and sparkly leo.
These are some great, and simple, outfit ideas for class; Thanks for the great video! Where are your black stirrup-style tights from (brand, where they were purchased, etc.)? Cheers!
A recommendation: you can get bikini bottoms for swimming with an incorporated short skirt. I bought one on amazon as an experiment for class wear and it's really useful. Mine has a high waist, so with any kind of top - or even a t shirt - it looks decent.
Is it better to wear the ballet flats without tights? I noticed a lot of the looks it's just barefooted into the ballet flats, is that more comfortable?
It's personal preference! I find it more comfortable without the tights layer in the shoe so I can feel the floor more. There are footed tights now that have the toes and heels cut out so dancers get more grip, but still have the line of tights into the shoes.
I have not had much luck finding dance attire that fits my body. It is hard to wear a bra or find a leotard with coverage without having custom made items that cost more than the actual dance class (example: park district charges about $80 for 8 classes and leotard is $100.) I feel physically and emotionally uncomfortable in dance clothes that make me look and feel like a sausage. Anyone find a solution if you have this problem? AND YES, I am trying to loose fat and tighten my muscles but, currently, can't cover...all this.
I completely understand your feeling about this. I equally am frustrated about the lack of leotard options for full-figured women. I will keep hunting for options and will be sure to share them with you all if I find anything. In the mean time, try just doing a yoga pants and fitted shirt option or just something you're comfortable in!
Any ideas for those of us that need to wear a bra? I love pretty leotards but very few (if any) are bra friendly. Love your final skirt. What is the make and model?
There are plenty leotards that can fully cover a bra if you’re wearing one. I Wear Moi have a few in which the leotard itself is also very supportive on its own. Bloch also sells bra friendly leotards. I think Jana also has some videos for leotards for bustier dancers. If not, then a sports bra and yoga pants with a T-shirt or fitted long sleeve like in the second option of this video is always one of my favourites. You can even pair it with a ballet skirt too
I have SO much to say about this topic haha. I find it incredibly frustrating to find a leotard that can fully cover my hips, rear, and support my full chest - and still feel pretty. I know Capezio makes a leo with a Bratek inside. I have not personally tried these, but have heard about them. There are some leo cuts that come up high enough on the back to cover a bra strap. And yeah, if you want to invest in a custom from Eleve, it's a bit pricey, but could be worth it depending on your situation. The mock turtle neck leos with the zipper up the front a great options to hold things in and cover up bra or sports bra. But if I discover some leos that are great for big busts I will for sure share them all over our accounts :) OH! And my gray skirt is from Moore Skirts! instagram.com/mooreskirts/
I think sports bras or very minimal nude bras are great for this problem because it’s truly not that big of a deal if they can see your bra a little bit we all get it, and a sports bra is made to be seen and for athletic purposes so get one that coordinates with the pretty Leo :)
Is 18 years old considered as adult or teen?(Because 18 is like between teen and adult. XD) I'm interested to go to adult ballet and I've never danced before.
For women, I would recommend leotards & tights. Maybe a Ballet class-friendly tutu if you feel like it's more comfortable. For men, I would recommend leotards with either ballet shorts or tights. Leotards with attached shorts (Biketards) are also a great alternative!
Love this video!! It’s like the epitome of adult ballet- having fun with your adult ballet friends whilst doing what you both love
Thank you!!
I like the first and the last options! These are the style I wear for my ballet classes...
Beautiful natural lighting!
Thank you!! So satisfying to me :)

That's a good idea!
@@BallerinasByNight i think they sell them as swim skirts..and they're incredibly cheap!
Where are the cropped sweaters from? (Is there maybe a link?) They are super cute! 😊
Thanks! They are both Kristin's - sale items she found awhile back, I believe, so no links unfortunately!

Where can I find that navy/black leo you're wearing? I love it!
It is a custom from Eleve Dancewear! The "Allison" leotard with cap sleeves added.
Love all the looks!
Btw, the music kinda drowned out your voice. Was hard to hear ya! :)
Noted! Thank ya

I have the same problem. I did see you can order a full back (instead of low back) on leotards on "eleve" dot com, if money is no object.

I think that technically 18 or post high school is considered "adult"!
