Carolina Marchese yup, i feel like a elepant is sitting on top of my uterus only. along with the discharge from the egg exploding from the follicle. Tmi i know
Kelsey C Nothing is TMI between those who own uteruses. I feel like a fucking sludge factory every. fucking. month. This month, however, it's been cranked up to a deluge! And I'm experiencing that same back pain & cramps as my menstrual cycle, which mean my cycle will be BRUTAL. Ugh. I'll never be prepared for this shit.
This is simply amazing. We never stop and think about what our bodies are doing, and how they work to ensure producing new life. All the muscular contractions and the hormone going to the pituitary gland all happens inside us and we aren't even aware of it. It's true, that our bodies do take care of themselves without us even trying. It's divine.

This is brilliant. I'm writing an exam tomorrow about the menstrual cycle and this has given me so much insight towards the theory I've studied.
Yes. Some women feel the same pain when they ovulate, and there's a name for it: "mittelshmerz" (pronounced mit uhl shmairts). It's a German word meaning "middle pain."
Great work! the only negative thing that the video doesn't mention the role of FSH in stimulating the follicles at first from which one follicle will be selected to complete the cycle.
It's a nice point to recognise that the ovum is albeit briefly, ejected into the body cavity. Another shared feature with some of our vertebrate cousins. Mammals such as ourselves have a specialised anatomy to give shelter to the ovum for its development.
Great question! An egg usually survives for no more than 24 hours after ovulation. So, if sexual activity (without contraception) occurs 24 hours after ovulation, it is unlikely pregnancy will occur. HOWEVER, if sexual activity occurs 3-4 days before ovulation, it is possible for sperm to survive in the reproductive tract that entire time, and pregnancy is possible. Hope that answers your question. For more information on planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor.
it's so fascinating how the body works Us girls each month complain and starts to talk shit and be angry about our periods but do we actually take a second to think what your body is doing?how it's working? how it's preparing for a pregnancy? or simply that you are a productive woman? dont think about it in an ugly immature gross way as i used to do or just someday you'll understand what i mean :)
Great info on ovulation. When trying to get pregnant, there is a about a 2 day period after ovulation when the egg can be fertilized in the fallopian tube.
Great early stage 3D medical animation work guys- I can't wait to see the final finished product. You certainly bring a storyline to life- thanks again!- Fantastic images!- Brian
subtract 17 from her average cycle length. ex: 28-17 = 11, ovulation occurs around the 14th day, but since sperm can survive for more than a day then yes there is a possibility of fertilization.
love this channel, the videos explains any topic so easy I am in Nursing school and got an exam in a week this really helps! keep up the good work guys!
wait, so the fallopian tube isn't really connected to the ovary?! the egg just injects into the abdominal cavity!? AHHH!!! ok I get it, the egg is soo tiny and the fallopian tube guides it in, but I had no idea they weren't physically connected...
yup, it's always safest after ovulation. though give an allowance of 4 days before and after ovulation. eg. abstain from unprotected sex on the 10-18 of a 28 day cycle. cheers
@rcollins305 The egg "dies" on average between 12-24 hours after ovulation. Therefore there is no longer an egg there to fertilize 2 days later. Optimal timing for intercourse when trying to conceive is the day before and the day of ovulation.
nucleus .... you made me love studying gynecology and obstetrics !! seriously ... its way easier and i even find it enjoyable to see what am i studying .... thanks for the great work .... its a bit defective in the information but i totally understand how you try to make things convenient for everyone ..... again thanks for the magnificent animations........
could you guys please do something for college students? I'm in bio101 & my professor is basically an idiot. I find your videos VERY informative opposed to his poor excuse for diagrams and notes. I am more than willing to email you guys the notes & material to show you what I have to deal with in this class. I don't care if you degrade the quality by a lot,or have watermarks all across.. ANYTHING will be better than these notes & it would sure help my grade. Your ch inspired me to enroll :)
@Girlyfreak8989 the egg is fertilised in the Fallopian tube, just not implanted there. After fertilisation the fertilised egg is carried to the uterus for implantation. For ectopic pregnancies the egg is implanted in the Fallopian tube or any place other than the superior part of the uterus.
Wow…. Great video This video have full information that how to detect LH level so great useful for every one who couple trying to get pregnant because I have been using Home Check Ovulation Kit for detect LH. It was Great and this video is very good for understanding LH Thanks for video
@davinrobinson1 Thanks for your comment. Just to be clear: **fertilization** of the egg by the sperm normally happens in the fallopian tube, not the ovary. If the sperm goes to the ovary, it has gone past the egg into the abdominal cavity. What you might be thinking of is implantation, which must occur in the uterine lining and not the fallopian tube. If an egg implants in the fallopian tube, it is called an ectopic pregnancy and poses great risks for the mother and the fetus.
@awesomeguy445 if that were the case then there wouldn't be any complications during birth nor would there be any risk of death for the baby or mother....perfection is a long way off my friend
@areahisawesome No. You bleed for about 7 days. The cycle means from day one, the first day you bleed, until the next periods first day there is a set of days. Like if you were to go your period today July 1st from today until your next period starts is your cycle. That maybe 28 days, 30 or more. On the calendar it would read like, "Fri July 1-July 7 on period" then later "Tue Aug 2-Aug 8 on period". You count the days you were on your period with the break giving you a 32 day cycle.
Wow. Absolutely amazing. 3D animation like this should be used in every health class.
I'm going through this process as I type this. I'm in so much pain... Now I know why.
Same, it's just like "welp, now I know why I feel like death."
I thought it was just me!!
Carolina Marchese yup, i feel like a elepant is sitting on top of my uterus only. along with the discharge from the egg exploding from the follicle. Tmi i know

***** this is my first one in a whole year so its kinda bitter sweet. Kinda excited to feel like a woman again
The fallopian tubes remind me of flowers lmao
It does resemble a flower, doesn't it? Thank you for watching and sharing!

I really loved the animation on the "O" in the title sequence. One of the best examples of design I have seen!
So my Fallopian tubes move? That's metal as fuck
Our bodies are so awesome. Not periods. Whats going on inside is awesome.
Amazing.. we are amongst the lucky ovum tht got fertilized.. since ovum lives for 12 -24 hours only
we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator
omg this is both horrifying and amazing
How is it horrifying?
+Yoko Yakamori I think he means it's disgusting so much stuff in the body
Yes. Some women feel the same pain when they ovulate, and there's a name for it: "mittelshmerz" (pronounced mit uhl shmairts). It's a German word meaning "middle pain."
Okay my ovaries hurt now!!!
This is so beautiful, i fvcking love it. Nature is so great..women are so great.
This work is absolutely gorgeous!! What amazing realism this 3D medical animation has. It seems like there's a camera shooting real footage!
I have an exam today and I totally needed to see this!! Thanks
Great work! the only negative thing that the video doesn't mention the role of FSH in stimulating the follicles at first from which one follicle will be selected to complete the cycle.
Beautifully animation, and very detailed too. I learned more from this video than I did in high-school.
Its amazing how many things happen inside our bodies without us even realizing it!
If only ovulation accured once every ten years
Hey, that times out pretty well!! And the chorus (I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive) works with the shot of the egg.
Well done, LC Nilsen!
It's a nice point to recognise that the ovum is albeit briefly, ejected into the body cavity. Another shared feature with some of our vertebrate cousins. Mammals such as ourselves have a specialised anatomy to give shelter to the ovum for its development.
I came here by mistyping , Convolution into ovulation.
We all were in that beautiful when we were egg cell
This was more informative than high school sex ed.
Some of the visualizations remind me of Finding Nemo...

Glory be to God :) It's so beautiful.
Conception and life is also beautiful. God is the great creator of man. Amen

Great early stage 3D medical animation work guys- I can't wait to see the final finished product. You certainly bring a storyline to life- thanks again!- Fantastic images!- Brian
Great explanation! :)
@BBCSHEEPNEWS Excellent news! Best of luck, and hope your family is healthy and happy!
Even the ova shows & changes its color to attract the sperm.....how intelligent they r??
I dunno but this speaker has a better voice than the other one.
best realistic 3d. must have taken hard work to prepare. Goodluck nucleus. your videos are really amazing.

Thank you, very informative. Great video.
Oh, eggs disintegrate after a certain number of days, if they aren't fertilized. Hope that helps :)
NO WONDER IT HURTS THEN
amazingly coordinated, beautiful creation!
great animation video than to understand from pictures, thanks
You will *probably* ovulate 12-16 days before the start of your next period, though for some women that time frame is a bit shorter.
1:41 looks like it hurts when it's actually when the egg goes down the uterus that it hurts lol. Great animation! Very informative!
awesome photography
Fantastic 3D animation work- so realistic- B
At this moment right now i can feel my uterus contracting and it hurts so i guess thats what cramps really feel like :/
wow its like the egg is going through a journey :D
This is absolutely brilliant!
God is great
The pains experienced by women during ovulation is normal though, the level of the pains may differ. ITS NATURAL!
