This video, created by Nucleus Medical Media, describes PCOS, polycystic ovary (ovarian) syndrome. The animation begins with the normal anatomy and physiology of the ovaries, including the effects of certain hormones on the ovaries during the menstrual cycle. Then, what is known about the pathophysiology of PCOS is shown, including abnormal amounts of specific hormones and how they cause certain symptoms, such as infertility, acne, and abnormal hair growth. Treatments for PCOS are described, including hormonal birth control, anti-androgens, diabetes and fertility medications, and laparoscopic ovarian drilling.

I remember watching this video in Dec 2014 after being diagnosed with PCOS. That time I thought I would never conceive a baby (trying to conceive for 2 years). After watching a lot of videos on youtube and reading threads on pcos, In Jan 2015 I went to see the Doctor and asked for Metformin. I took 500mg once a day. To my amazement 16 days later I have a positive pregnancy test. Now I am 6 weeks pregnant. I actually got pregnant immediately. Hang in there guys. We can beat PCOS and be pregnant.

I was diagnosed with this on my both ovaries when I was 23, I faithfully lift it all up to God. My dr, prescribed metformin after undergoing from a lot of tests .I took it gradually like once a day for the first week, then twice for the next and three times for the third week. I pulled myself to lose weight, went for a daily exercise then I got pregnant at 28. My son is three years old now .

I feel bad for the women who want to have children and are unable or it’s difficult to get pregnant. I was diagnosed this year with PCOS but to be honest I was not upset . I never wanted children or even had the desire to have them . Don’t get me wrong . Children are a blessing but I don’t plan on ever having children so it’s not a big deal to me. However, I do know some women who alway wanted to have a big family and struggle so much to get pregnant. I pray for all the women who want to have kids to eventually have their wish . ❤️❤️❤️

One of the worst things about this disease is how much of a higher risk you are for insulin resistance. I have both. The combination of the both makes it so hard to lose weight. It's becoming so frustrating especially when you're trying your best but it's not good enough because you're body is working against you. Weight control helps with the symptoms but it's so hard for me to even get there because it's become so freaking hard for me to lose weight. I'm feeling so discouraged after almost an entire month of working out every single day and going hard and cutting my calories and I've managed to lose 1 lb. Please tell I'm not the only one thats having such a hard time with weight loss

Dealing with this is so difficult-while there is a lot of support out there for women like us, there are also a lot of horrible people out there that seem to think being unable to get pregnant is hilarious. I've had some pretty screwed up experiences, thinking I could confide in someone I had known my entire life. This person decided to not only tell everyone she knew what I had told her in confidence, she even went and rubbed my nose in it for good measure-telling me about all these females that are either in prison or on drugs that they're expecting; showing me pictures of everyone else's kids, the whole nine yards. For so long, I was dealing with that situation, then I finally told her that since she had proven she wasn't my friend that I wanted nothing to do with her. Now that I'm not dealing with people like that, my blood pressure has actually come down and my cycles are slowly returning to a more normal state. It's insane how stress can really affect the body like that. I know I still have a long way to go, but hopefully soon my husband and I will have some good news of our own.

I was around 9 stone and extremely athletic, so please don't get upset if you have lost weight and still haven't conceived. There must be a different way for us x

I've always struggled with acne, I have facial hair an I've tried so many ways to get rid of it but it comes back thicker. I also have hair on my stomach & chest. An I haven't had a period in about 5 months. & this scares me because I've always wanted a baby in the future. I don't want to die not knowing the love of a mother. :(

But you know what?.Alopathic medicines can't really cure it.ive almost spent £32,000 on them I But NOTHING worked.I've missed my periods for 11 months. And yeah, I went for all the medications but..And then, my friend's mom suggested us for Homeopathy. You won't believe my periods started within a week and its curing. Its curing the hair thing too been 17 days NO WAXING XD.Lost 2 kgs.Now its been two months im on Hoemopathics.I think you should really go for it.It helps. And it has cured my cousin's.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 32. I had multiple treatments here in the UK. I had 3 IVF cycles. All of them failed, unfortunately. I knew that my only option to have my own child is using donor eggs. My partner and I started researching our options. We quickly narrowed down to the clinic in Ukraine. It offered the treatment we needed at a reasonable price. After browsing the page of the clinic, reading everything we could on message forums and review websites, we reached out. We got a dedicated coordinator who responded to every email, usually within 24 hours. We were in touch for a couple of weeks before we decided to start the treatment with them. I felt a very personal touch. My specific situation was being considered when the treatment plan was being defined. We were kept well informed at every step of the process. We've never been pressured or rushed. Now I'm following my treatment plan and getting ready for the transfer! Please wish me luck!

I was diagnosed in June 2009 with PCOS. The doctor looked at me that day and said she thought losing weight would really help me. I'd been on BC from 5 years due to very long cycles. I was put on metformin and lost 20 lbs in the first year. After that, I started working out and eating better. I lost another 50 lbs. We tried 3 rounds of Clomid about 9 months after being diagnosed (before losing the additional 50 lbs), but it didn't help. I was still 80 lbs overweight while I was taking it though. The more weight I lost, the shorter my cycles got. We went to the RE in December, decided to wait to proceed with fertility treatments, and stopped 'trying to get pregnant.' We didn't count days, track BBT, etc. We got pregnant shortly there after. I am currently 7 1/2 months pregnant and I've had a very good pregnancy. It is scary, but there are a lot of ladies that do get pregnant that do have it! The RE did change my meds from Metformin to Glumetza. Good luck!

The video does not touch upon the fact that diet and exercise are critical components to helping women with PCOS. When I gain weight, my menstrul cycles are directly impacted. When I maintain a healthy diet (no gluten for me, no processed sugars) and exercise routine, my mind and body feel good and my cycles are regular. The healthy diet also keeps some of the possible medical complications -- i.e. diabetes, high choloesterol -- at bay. I also became pregnant so it is possible!

I've struggled with PCOS throughout my 20's NOT KNOWING that's what I was dealing with. (Excessive weight gain, night sweats, terrible acne). It wasn't until a few days ago my new primary doctor confirmed that I have PCOS due to all the symptoms I've be n experiencing. Every other doctor I've seen in the past didn't know what it was. I got pregnant once at 21 but miscarried. Couldn't get pregnant again until I turned 34 now imya proud Mama of a 5 year old boy. 💜Needless to say I've been blessed to combate my PCOS symptoms with regular exercise, a clean diet and consuming at least a gallon of water a day. As for the acne that PCOS causes I sought out a Dermatologist that works miracles for women who suffer from PCOS acne. Even though I'm not thrilled about having PCOS, I will say it's a RELIEF to FINALLY be able to put a NAME to my condition.
For anyone who is struggling with PCOS please be encouraged. Do your part in making sure you are good to your temple. Be mindful of what you put into your body and workout regularly, you're guaranteed to keep your PCOS symptoms at bay. 🤗❤️🙏🏽

I’ve tried everything: metformin, inositol, lost 35+ lbs to bring my BMI into a healthy range, low carb diet, low inflammatory diet, intense exercise, gentle exercise, the list goes on. What I’ve learned is that PCOS will likely be something I work to accommodate for my whole life. That doesn’t necessarily bother me because I know that what I’m doing to manage it makes me healthier overall, but it is a lot of work and mental energy to maintain balance.

I am 24 and I always had this. I was diagnosed I think around 17 years old. and it was not a surprise because many women in my family had it. and my mother had a hard time getting pregnant. so I knew it would be the same for me and I was OK with it. I wanted no kids anyway so I didn't mind as long as I didn't have severe problems. little did I know, even with this problem and with the contraceptive pills I was taking (mostly to fix my period) I still got pregnant very easily. it was so unexpected and unbelievable. I am now 7 months preg.and things are looking OK. easy pregnancy too. even though I did not want it at first I decided to go with it. so, girls don't worry too much because you never know how it is going to be, maybe it will not be as bad as you think. and even if it is hard, there are many doctors and methods nowadays that could help you.... you are strong and can go over this!

It is very important to manage your PCOS and manage your hormones first and foremost. Once you’ve done that, the rest of your symptoms will fall into place and you should start to see improvements in them too.

Guys I use to have this for around 4 years and as usual doctors had no cure - I started taking probiotics (also helped cure recurrent UTI for good) after three months I went for a scan and the nurse said all my cysts was gone! (I also reduced sugar). The way probiotics works is it evens the balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria in the gut - all hormones info comes from the belly/gut. So when there’s more bad bacteria there will be an imbalance which in return effects hormones. - it all comes down to healthy eating, probiotics and reducing sugar. I hope this helps :)

I got diagnosed with pcos 8 months ago; my period was missing for up to 4 months and gained almost 60 pounds in a year ,, I knew that wasn't normal and decided to go to a gynecologist and then she told me I got pcos but didn't explain me nothing about it just gave me birth control pills to regular my mestrual cycle, took them for 4 months and never my period came just got worse since I started taking the pills my blood sugar levels and blood pressure went up and got diagnosed with hypertension and almost getting diabetes too, then I decided to stop birth control pills and started doing exercises 3 months ago and about 2 months i started a healthy diet cutting 75% of unnecessary carbs (white bread rice and pasta mostly) and changed for 100%wheat grains, eating more fresh vegetables and a little bit of fruits but carefully cuz many fruits contains a lot of sugar and carbs (doesn't matter they are fresh and with pcos you levels of insulin goes up😑)... and I'm seeing results, been having my period 3 months in a row and in 2 months lost more than 20 pounds and feeling a lot better and hoping one day soon I'll available to be mom again 😇😇

common misconception is that you need to take hormones to treat a hormonal imbalance. A hormone cannot treat a hormonal imbalance, even if the hormone is deficient. This is because hormones are only messengers and the real imbalance exists at a higher level.

I had the same problem. My doctor's kept telling me to just to lose weight (along with my hypothyroidism) and it kept getting worse and worse. When I got a full range blood work test, my leels were out of control and I was told I have PCOS. I hav been diagnosed since around 13.
