Ren discovered Sam when he was walking home from busking in Brighton. Sam was busking with no equipment.. Ren stopped & hooked Sam up to his own gear & Sam has gone on from there! Ren took Sam under his wing & played for Sam, as this video shows. Ren & Sam have written a few songs together & have remained really close friends. I am blessed to live in Brighton & have seen the growth of The Big Push, Ren & Sam 🙏
Awww the smile on SueSue’s face as she was watching :) Regarding The Big Push, as I understand it, they didn’t break up per se - no drama or anything as far as personality conflicts - more like location and logistical conflicts, being in different countries, like Ren being in Canada for medical treatments, etc. I was trying to find where Ren recently said his favorite thing is playing with The Big Push; I think they’d jam together again in a second if they could. Fellow bandmate Romain Axisa recently released some beautiful solo work :)
You might be thinking of when he was talking about The Big Push on his Twitch stream following Illest of Our Time's release, there's a clip of it floating around somewhere on here. :) Definitely no bad blood between those boys.
I'm Northern English but God I wish I' wish I had visited Brighton that very moment and walked upon that scene that performance. I'd have been the old guy in the back headbutting a wall just to make sure I was still alive and not in heaven.
In 2018 Sam told the story of when he met Ren for the first time : "5 years ago when I was 16 years old, I used to go busking in Brighton to make myself a little bit of pocket money so I could do 16 year old shit. I couldn’t play the guitar and didn’t have an amp, but I’d put my hat down and just hope people would stop and give my voice a listen. One day, a young guy was walking past and must’ve heard something he liked cos he was watching me whilst I sung my heart out so intently. After I finished my song, he came over to me and said that he’d finished busking for the day, he had a guitar and an amp, and said if I wanted I could use them. I politely declined and said I couldn’t play the guitar, I wouldn’t have a clue where to start. He said that he would play for me and whatever money I made, I could keep all for myself. We played for an hour or so and it was amazing. People were actually stopping, and I can honestly say it was the first time I felt comfortable with singing to people. This was the very moment and the very first song me and that boy played together. That boy was Ren and I’m honestly welling up typing this, but he’s my best friend and my brother. I’ve seen Ren go through some of the toughest stuff I’ve ever seen anyone have to go through and he’s inspired me the whole way . Thank you for this lovely story, every story I have ever heard of Ren, and what I have personally seen of him on his Twitch feed, leads me to believe he is a lovely guy... A lady left another lovely story about Ren in the comments of another video, she said she had a severely handicapped adopted young daughter who loved Ren to bits, and she used to take her to see him busking and he always made time for her, chatted to her and took selfies with her. When you see the number of young girls gathered around The Big Push when they were busking, adoring them, it speaks volumes to me about this young man, that he took time out to make this poor young girl's day...
Precious, Watch Out, Dignity, Sweet Little Lady live acoustic version these are all original music from the Big Push oh and My Woman if you wanna here Ren crone. There is so much more Ren music from earlier solo and also with Trick the Fox a band that started as a duo then a trio. Songs include Lost Boy, Street Lights and a clever mash up challenge (how many tunes did they mention) and a cover of grenade/earthquake. The Big Push split because the members had different priorities and commitments to the band. REN says it was not an angry split that they remain friends and might perform together at some point in the future✌🏼
I love the way the two little kids look like a mini Sam and Ren. So cute, and just so lovely for those kids to see two guys singing and playing together and having fun.

The Big Push did not break up. Ren said they are just doing their own thing right now. They are all still cool & fully plan to play again together.
