The story I heard was Ren was ending his day on the street busking and he walked over to Sam singing without any equipment. So he invited him to use his equipment and placed a bet that he would attract a lot of attention with the microphone and speakers. And the rest is that Sam and Ren was busking before he Ren played with his band.
They met when Ren had finished busking for the day and was on his way home and seen Sam singing so he offered Sam his microphone and amp so more people could here him and Ren played the guitar. And Sam could keep all the money. Sam was 16 and Ren was 23 at the time. There a video of that day on Sam’s channel, you see Ren sitting in a doorway playing while Sam is singing

🦋 Well, thank you for the links. I went and checked both of them out more thoroughly love them. So an interesting interview with Ren on the Zach Sang Show. He talked about his journey of being misdiagnosed for so many years, and being so chronically sick and then one day finally went to an infectious disease doctor, and he discovered that he had lymes disease. Him speaking out at his age of I think maybe 26 or something is a voice for so many people. And it’s a personal journey for me with my child about something like that. I feel that you understand this, but I just wanted to reiterate how far reaching things can be sometimes, so thank you for that.

Yas, I believe he offered Sam his guitar and mic but at that point Sam couldn't play so Ren accompanied him.
And Ren let Sam keep all the proceeds by all accounts as he was about to head home with his own earnings. Solid dude.

The mic he's using is the old school SM-58. I used to have one. He also shows it in a video called Ren's prized possessions.
