  • Expedition Zork is a newly renovated log flume ride at Toverland Theme Park in the Netherlands.
"Together with your group, step into one of the rigid tree trunks and go on an adventure through the highest mountain peaks, deep valleys and over gigantic waterfalls. In the meantime, you'll also discover whether the mysterious ghost stories surrounding the swamp creature Zork are true or just a myth. There are plenty of unexpected moments waiting for you anyway, so brace yourself! There comes a 15 meter high descent. And splash!" - www.toverland.com/en/theme-pa...
    Ride filmed May 2023

I went on this attraction. The last drop is one of the biggest flume of the world. When it opened it was the biggest one.
The Parc is nice with lots of great details. The details are almost like Efteling quality.

I like that they bulk ordered fake christmas trees and just laid them out around the ride

The "I'm in a warehouse" vibe kills any immersion the scenery would have though. Kinda weird.

Toverland started in 2001 as a inside playground for kids. In the later years they went outside and made great theming. They got a Troy theme with one of the best wooden coaster, and a merlin theme in a zone called Avalon. And got a new entrance in 2019. This ride got rethemed last year. Don’t let the warehouse vibe what you see make the park. ^^
They even got a wingcoaster called Fenix and a great mack spinning coaster called dwervelwind. :)

It feels noticeable in this video, but when you're actually there you don't notice it as much. They've got a good vibe going.

At the first drop: Oh. That looks kinda fun.
At the second drop: NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE SO MUCH NOPE.

I really want to know more about the name. I grew up playing the Zork text adventure games on our C64, but the developers once said that Zork was just a nonsense word. Does it have some actual meaning in Dutch?

No the zork are the green creatures that you see. Maybe fun to know: The story is (how I remember) that an adventurous man (on the televisions and last part of the video) doesn’t believe that zorks are real. So you adventure around to find one. The second drop is the part that you see that the Zork arent a myth but are real.

Honestly, that still works. The protagonist of Zork (the text based game) goes out adventuring too. Maybe to prove Zorks aren't real? Maybe the ride is a sequel.

Why do you need a turntable in the middle of the incline only to reach one at the top

i wonder if that lantern in the end section is a reference to the game. Strangely, wouldn't be the first theme park to make a Zork reference, Magic Kingdom has that one with Sonny Eclipse.

A family owned business that originally and just a few years ago was only two indoor halls isn't on the same level as Disney? I'm shocked!
And while we're talking about Disney and this park. The Booster Bikes right outside of this hall is actually the prototype of TRON Lightcycle Run, built by Vekoma which are located basically down the road of Toverland.
