Writing your own raps should be a thing again. It filters out the inauthenticity.
and kills the over saturation
well yall gotta remember rap isn’t the same rap we came to know and love, it’s been popularized and gentrified, it’s not even rap anymore it’s borderline pop now
That's no big deal if your entertaining. From the jump all rappers didn't write their own stuff. Kurt's Blow, Biz Markie, Queen Latifah and more had writers at times. However they were Hip-hop and talented. Not just a cute face off the street.
Who cares? If it sounds good, I’ll listen to it. What do I care if they wrote it or not? People are so weird.
@@mostmost1not to forget Eazy E and Dr. Dre, both huge stars at the time and almost never wrote a lyric

People got upset at me when I say Yachty was wrong for pushing his talentless friends in our faces and should stop acting like a victim when he was the one actively investing in those short term flops.
If you have a friend who wants to rap but can't, start investing in writing classes, not whatever Yachty did.
LL Cool J and Nas studied the dictionary. If you don’t have the interest or some natural talent, writing classes won’t help.
@@oophorror2251 The dictionary 💀😭 Be frr
if you don’t have the natural talent to rap but you want to, i’m not tryna be mean but you probably just want the fame/lifestyle/adoration of fans. bc if you REALLY wanted to rap, you would have the natural talent bc you would have BEEEEEN put in the mf work. like come awnnnn
@@commandery3574 I agree that Karrahboo didn't want to be an artist at all 💀💀
But if you mean like innate, from birth talent, you have a lifetime to pick up the slack and in today's industry and with internet, you have A LOT of options to fix or "compensate" your lack of talent in writing or making music.
They are not all talentless but Karahboo messed it up for the others I listen to their music they are ok not great but ok
Build a bear rappers I like that term shits gonna catch on, pay is the future step aside ak 😂

Because people are dumb. They like blaming industry plants but don’t even think about the industry planter. If they’ve got their villain, that’s enough for them. Never mind that yachty said he was doing this for the *whole group*
well, to be fair, Karrahboo said in multiple interviews that she only started rapping because she saw how Yachty was able to get an acting role in a movie due to his stardom. So saying she's a good voice actor is pretty much a compliment to her 😂 rap was just her avenue to an acting career
Hip-hop has become pastiche. Abstracted from its roots, the genre has stagnated and is basically a remix of the same five bars about money, percs and genitalia
Almost all my favorite artists are people who will never headline a tour and it’s because they make good music.

i understand what ur saying and i agree completely with the notion that inauthenticity is ruining rap, but the blame shouldn’t be solely on karrahboo, boat deserves sum blame too. he knowingly signed and pushed an artist that didn’t have any talent as a musician. what he was doing was definitely not sustainable and he’s also collaborating with and co-signing ian who is also inauthentic. like it or not, yatchy is sort of messing up rap culture right now.

Hip hop has become kinda funny to me...😂😂😂
I was a band geek at a Florida performing arts school. It was imperative to practice every day and the talent was legitimate throughout the arts departments ( Doechii attended as well). The kids took their crafts very serious , and it showed.
The kids today use art as an esthetic, and they do not practice their crafts or listen ( its imperative to listen to the artist that came before you. We would not have hip hop if we did not have P.Funk first) Plain and simple.
The lack of talent in the industry is glaringly obvious to the Orchestra/ band kids from school. I'm happy everyone is seeing this shit for what it is.

It’s a business now more than ever. So artist are just a product at this point. No talent necessary.
That horrible show The Idol that The Weeknd did actually did a good job of showing what you said. It showed how easily they can just create a pop star and it can literally be any person.

I think rap music is fine. It's just that the talented rappers are either underground or are in the middle meaning not mainstream but at the same time not unknown to the masses.
Kanye having ghostwriters and blurring the lines because he was a producer too (which was a grey area in freemasonry of being accepted), was the start of ghostwriters being more accepted.

Most vampires are hundreds of years old . Cartis a young vamp
These young fans are more fans of the image rather than the art. So if you can create an image for someone and they can pull it off, these simple minded fans will go for it.
my 2 cents in regards to the whole yachty/karrah situation for anyone who cares (its a yap session be warned):
1. yachty not only prioritized karrahs career and image over the other members - which alone wouldve been disingenuous - but he gave her her whole sound, persona, and bars. which is a slap in the face of the other concrete members who have been rapping for a minute before the yachty cosign and actually want to be rappers not just clouted.
2. yachty has a past of being indifferent and on occassions disrespectful to hip hop. hes matured through the years and now respects the art form, but its moments like this that make me feel like he still sits outside the culture and cant really feel whats happening. hes more recently discussed how hip hop is in a bad state, but then he contributes directly to that by pulling the same bs that major labels have been doing for years. he cries when hes left out of hip hop conversations and then disregards its basic tenets to get more fame and fortune.
3. for yachty to do all that for karrah, just to turn around at air her out about it, makes it seem like yachty doesnt do things to help people, he just does things to be the one who did them, and have people owe him who couldnt possibly pay him back for what hes given so he gets to hold it over their heads in exchange for endless loyalty and gratitude. and if they stop showing that gratitude for a split second theyre ungrateful and he shouldve never helped them.
i still fw yachty as a artist but for a multitude of reasons, hes gotta show and prove because rn he looks terrible to me. i thought he was moving like a boss and i was happy to see him put on for a small group of artists he seemed to believe in, but after all this im just hoping the rest of crete can stay afloat (no boat pun intended) and i hope yachty gets a reality check and actually starts giving a f about the culture beyond his perception within it.
Well said
i read everything you wrote, this it 100%
Put it like this if my friend needed a job and I volunteer to put him on and give him a ride to work everyday you do owe at least the gratitude to show up everyday and actually work. If you always calling in sick or genuinely being bad at the job I have every right to get mad. Also if you borrowing money from someone especially thousands of dollars expect to pay it back or get called out for being lazy and poor, don’t bite the hand that feeds you then play victim that’s exactly what’s wrong with people now
I seem to recall she had a few songs with another young lady "Anycia" before the Yachty stuff but I could be mistaken. I don't think this whole "she's never wrote a rap" thing is genuine.
@@johnnycage6676this is a crazy analogy ngl and doesn’t re-correlate with anything op said or the rap game being played by dudes like yatchy.

Here's the thing, even if you are a "good" rapper who can write, if you're using ghost writers or remaking others' reference tracks bar for bar, you are still a voice actor. I respect artists, and if you're tracing somebody else's drawing you can't call yourself an artist.
Make good music that means something to you, or gtfo.

99% of new rappers cant even rap smh. All the so called rappers say the same thing the last guy said. Similar lingo, Similar beats, ALL TRASH! Thank you to the 1% thats making good music.
the music industry will continue to do this as long as they keep making money
At least she didn’t use a blackberry. Maybe we should give her a chance. You never know
A lot of these rappers seem like some kind of ironic inside joke that nobody really knows the punchline to
I've been saying this for the longest. Too many people are so in search of clout, and they compromise the music. The quality of the art doesn't matter because they just want to produce what's popping'. We have got to stop chasing the new cute things and invest in what's actually, objectively good-and yes, *objectively good* is a thing.
The fact that Lil' Yachty put forth a woman who he scraped-up from his label (an assistant, no less) instead of actually using his fame and resources to scout-out real talent that is begging to be discovered, just like he was, at one point, is ridiculous and a part of the problem. These people get famous and forget, or oftentimes don't even know, what it's like to need that big *break* or connection to be able to get the recognition that they deserve. As a multilingual/genre artist who has been singing and rapping for years, it pains me to know that I'm about to turn 30-years-of-age at a time when a woman like her can be propelled to stardom from the talent of totally different people that she claims as her own while I fight to be recognized.
Thnx for this. As a student of rap, and a listener of Karrah, I’m astonished at this turn of events. Maybe I’m a purist, but I love when rappers write their own raps….
I love how people are complaining about Kara being ignorant on Yachty . Yachty is a great ghostwriter. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you plain and simple. Image sells and y’all are proving the point.

I used to really think lil yachty was so cool and original and for the teens but 1 day he went live offering money to some kid who ate shit out the toilet. And that wasnt real.

I still think Karrahbooo has potential in all honesty to reach the mainstream. It’s a lot of trash male rappers out here too whose skill level isn’t far from her’s. Big Boogie and OT7 Quanny are barely more talented than her to name a few.
Typing shouldn’t be free for yu there’s no way karahboo is close to OT7 quanny….
im so glad ive been an underground head since the 00s. Rappers like Tech N9ne, Curren$y, Devin the Dude all and insane lasting power and a unique style. These days they are building rappers like 2k characters and its sad. But to be fair when i first saw the concrete boys i knew yatchy was behind their entire image. And I remember a rumor a while back that yatchy signed his ex (im assuming Karaboo) so im guessing its all coming to light.
We let shit slide as fans of rap and hip hop because everyone wanted to catch a mf vibe and was never REALLY focused on the core aspects of the culture. If hip hop has always been about SELF expression then we should be holding rappers accountable but since everyone doesn’t care because “the vibes were so immaculate” we won’t move anywhere with this and it’s into going to go downhill from here. It doesn’t start with Karrahbou we should’ve been on top of this
This is just a result of producers taking notes from pop musicians. Most pop stars are just “voice actors”.
As a fan of rap and a fan of build a bear i had no clue what i was gonna be in for in this video 😂
It’s like building a business and built it from the floor up, owning it for over 50 years. Then turn it over to your kids that don’t care and eventual drive the business into the ground.
Best analogy ever! As a 53 year old man that was around at the beginning of the art form, it’s really disappointing.
That subtle harry Mack flash was on point, some ppl won't get that but I saw it lol. Bravo.
Build a bear is an amazing analogy I really hope it spreads.
Also always appreciate all the wrestling references
i think in karrahboo's case, ghostwriters were needed. Her voice fit the lyrics she was rapping. I don't mind ghostwriters as it's not the 90s anymore. There's different styles that fit different people. The amount of 'rappers' that want to rap but can't write would leave a huge hole in hip-hop. We'd have the same type of rappers.
I think people like her because she looks exotic
ghostwriting is just as much a part of hip hop as any other genre. Some folks dont have the voice but can write. The first rap song wasnt even written by the artists lol they borrowed a rhyme book
Unless the music you listen to comes from deep in the underground indie circuit, what you listen to is a collaborative effort cause that's how music is made at the professional level. Some get written for, some write for, some do both. Most of the top names are in the both catagory. The 1st hit record in Hip Hop was made with stolen raps and when Caz pressed folks about it, the label didn't care. That's the business and there is a code of silence....but sometimes things happen, for example:
Milli Vanilli got exposed because the label guy ran off with all the money. People don't get paid, they start talking till you do.
Meek exposed Drake because QM didn't want to write anything for him....thats also why he got QM jumped.
Yatchy gonna mess around and blackball himself if he don't tighten up out here.
DAMN bruh you want non rappers not to rap. This goes with the thing of being an MC first.
I forgot all about Saweetie until this video lmao
I love this term "Build-A-Bear" Rapper. It's very true... gotta go back to the time where people care about their pen and ability to actually SPIT come on now!!
Its insane to think that you can have a career without any base line talent. Like you need to have at least a slither of ability to get you to the dance having a career based solely on other people output is a sure fire way to fail lol
My guy said “30 year old vampire.” 🤣🤣🤣
“Rap is poetry…sounds corny,” I mean the name is Rhyme and Poetry.
i was never a fan of karrah like that but i saw a clip of an interview where she said she actually didnt want to be a rapper as a career, she wanted to be an actress and when she saw yachty in a movie thats when she decided she wanted to be a rapper so she could get famous enough to be an actress instead, she also said if she was offered an acting gig she would drop the rapping career immediately. and personally and a real lover of rap music and the creation that comes with it and passion, i didn’t appreciate that she said that
7:35 she could be Drake 😂
My thing is about this whole situation is that yachty seems like he wants to seem like a savior more than he wants to “clear the air”
Bro exposes his whole group over what? The truth? They was bullying karahhboo publicly on top of that him saying she “playing sweet” and all that jazz when no one has ever seen her as that fr, the freestyle was written for her yeah but why we only getting on her ass for it????? Hella rappers got ghosts but a new female rapper pops up and now that’s suddenly a bad thing????
Yachty didn’t wanna clear the air he wanted to do damage cause he was under fire himself.
If he going down everyone going down. 😂
Yall dont like rappers yall just wanna vibe. Master P is a poor rapper. Easy E was a poor rapper. Yet they were entertaining and leaders. You dont have to write to be entertaining. The goal is entertainment not authenticity.
Yahty is a trash rapper and writer. He became famous with no skill but being entertaining to his fans. Old school rappers didnt write all their rhymes. Kurtis Blow, Queen Latifah, Ectasy from Whodini and many more. Entertain me. Art is all not about the words you say, the image you portray either. Keep it real was the 90s and thats 30 years ago. Thats done.

To Pimp A Build-a-bear
This is my new favorite term “build-a-bear” rapper there are a lot of them out there
You used a lot of women examples and it’s definitely more prevalent in that space. But a lot of these dudes have writers too we just don’t know
I felt that way too some people might be weird and turn it into a female vs male rap thing when we just don’t know the dudes yet
Used to be "Im real" now it's "Im paid"
You can say this all day long but most rap fans don’t have the brain capacity to separate authenticity from trash
It's because they are not selling the artist as artist, the current landscape of supposed artist are being sold to fans as status indicators and desirability of lifestyle perception. It's why you can now have an artist who has not cultivated their talent, by virtue of recognizable fame seem more popular than what they are. It's also why so many people want in. Once you're in, it doesn't matter how good you are because the image can now be leveraged monetarily. This is why skill has gone out the window. You have mass fans of fame and lifestyle more so than the actual music content. It's the same reason people be like "How isn't this artist bigger?" or have more visibility but can't quite seem to understand it in comparison with an artist who is clearly less talented musically speaking although they may have more popularity. Fans now use this as a success test. This can condition people to not like what is good or rather what is noble because their isn't much financial incentive to do so in a culture. And lastly, its why an artist can get so popular and make music about how good they are at making music and it's sonically sound so no gripe, instead of actually making music outside of the status they've reached. So many artist are guilty of this and fans eat it up because we desire the lifestyle of the artist. Every industry in America gets corrupted this way, it's not exclusive to hip hop or rap.

I don’t have an issue with some artists having writers. They just have to be humble and stay in their lane. Don’t act like you’re better than others when you know the truth. Easy E didn’t write Eazy Duz It and then tried to take all the money for the album. Kris Kross didn’t write their first album. Many female artists didn’t write their songs.
