I Made a TRAP DOOR THAT DESCENDS INTO A STAIRCASE

In this video I show a trap door that I made, that is flush with the floor when it is not deployed, but drops down into a staircase when it is deployed.
The trap door is more than 20 years old, and we use it in our stage in the Bethany Lutheran College Theatre Department. It continues to work smoothly and has been fun special effects feature for us.
When I built this, there were no resources that I could find that showcased an idea like this, so I hope this is a helpful resource for you and your potential applications.

Madonna had a hydraulic staircase that rose up from the stage and the steps could close while the stairs were up, to create a ramp. I still have no idea how they did it!
