    I was just driving a 2023 Elantra Essential (base model) and I really like them. It’s comfortable, I LOVE how the turn signals feel. I did 150 mi trip with cruise control set at 75 mph and according to the car I averaged 49.5 mpg.
    The 2.0L and CVT are honestly a good pairing. I like how responsive the CVT is. I personally like it more than the new Civic and Sentra. Although i think the Jetta and Mazda 3 are nicer to drive.

    Re transmission options at 5:40: The N comes with an 8 speed, dual wet clutch auto shifted manual transmission with shifts so crisp, it will realign your spine. The Hybrid comes with a 6 speed, dual dry clutch auto shifted manual transmission which is somewhat more sedate and civilized, but still vastly superior to a continuously variable transmission.

    The Elantra Bose audio system comes with noise filtering set to medium; if you turn this off in the preferences section, you'll get considerably improved audio response. I have a $2,000 home theatre audio system in my living room, and the Bose audio system in the Elantra sounds as good or better. I often find myself just sitting in the car, just so I can listen to it. When you turn the noise filtering off, it's really much better.

    Re hybrid fuel economy at 3:00 : I regularly get 56 miles per US gallon at 70 MPH in my 2023 Elantra Hybrid. The 0 - 60 time in the Hybrid is 8.4 seconds, which is faster than the non hybrid variant (and many 1970's era musclecars); and the handling is also superior due to the fully independent rear suspension, which the non hybrid variant lacks. The Hybrid version is definitely a great combination of acceleration, handling, and fuel economy.

    • @point4894
      @point4894 11 месяцев назад

      look up comment higher: non hybrid get 49.5 mpg on 75 mph. Difference not a big. I can understand choice hybrid becouse it has independent suspension, but not for economy when it cost more 2k dollars... By the side, hybrid version has problem then, after ~8 years... You need SG (Hybrid Starter Generator) Belt Replacement after 108000 km of 48 month... Then battery... DCT clutches...

    Re justifying higher trim levels: get the Hybrid, and over the lifespan of the vehicle you'll save back 15 grand or more in fuel costs. That's way more than the difference from the cheapest Elantra to the top of the line Elantra Hybrid. You get your cake, and eat it too; you get to enjoy the very top trim level, but over 15 years your total out of pocket cost is less than if you'd opted for a bare bones, non hybrid Elantra. And the improved performance and handling is just icing on the cake.

    I love the Elantra but what kept me away is the fact that leather is only available on the limited. Sel w convenience is the sweet spot in the lineup but it has Hyundais awful cloth at least give leatherette. I do appreciate the ambient lighting and the grey interior w the grey wool like material offered on the limited

    At that point i would shell out 2k more for the N line and get a much better engine(a little under 300 hp) and a DCL(or manual if you prefer that), on the other hand the 22k model is much more bang for your buck

      If you want fuel economy, the limited is the way to go. N line isn't inefficient per say but the limited is super efficient

    Half good, & half bad when opening the passenger visor, sliding the mirror lid, light doesn't come on, but @ least the battery is saved when closing the visor!

    There's a lot to like here but I wish it were less swoopy (thus having more glass and better visibility.)
    That's really my only complaint. I really like the dash layout and interior design..

    I've rented a lot of these commuter cars and SUV's through Turo. I'll tell you this, Hyundai's and Kia's are all show at the dealer. When the real world hits, these cars are fragile, their transmissions feel terrible, and the gearing ratios help you achieve this mileage. What you don't get is a car that is able to maintain a speed, you get constant downshifting & upshifting at inconvenient times. The vehicle is truly attempting to maximize MPG and minimize your safety in the process. There is zero chance youtubers and car reviewers are not paid off by Hyundai and Kia, i.e. Car & Driver, etc.

      I own an Elantra N manual and it is thriving in the real world. Maybe the car reviewers who love it are getting paid but I’m not. The car is amazing and there’s not a car at the same price point that can match its performance.

      @@ADHski oh I see. That doesn’t surprise me to hear that. When I went to the dealer to purchase my N I got the same impression while just looking around at their lower end offerings as they were taking care of my paperwork.
