I really don't get it... Why not choose middle-ground and go to such extremes with character design ruining the experience for so many people? I think Nara from CHORVS would be a good example of much better character design, if you go for this kind of vibe for female protagonist. It certainly feels like East is all about fan service and West is literally a fan disservice...
