I live in Detroit Michigan so I know all about this school and its really a great school. It takes serious work to get in and it is no where near trashy. I just don't plan to go there because I've been in Michigan all my life, visited the school thousands of times and frankly I just want to go somewhere far away from home. I don't like the idea of living so close to my parents. That's the only reason I don't plan to go here myself, but seriously it's an awesome school that offers awesome opportunities.
The video really seems to highlight the fact that you must endure cold winters at MSU. While it is certainly true that winters are cold, if you are from a northern state it's really no big deal. I see the time stamp on this video is just after the arctic blast winter of 2013/2014. That winter was unprecedented...it was BRUTAL! The entire great lakes system froze over for the first time in decades. A typical winter at MSU is harsh but not really as big a deal as the video portrays. I remember massive tackle football games breaking out during snowstorms, or snowball fights between dorms. We actually enjoyed many aspects of the cold Michigan winters. MSU is a happy place, non-pretentious, with great social and academic life. It has arguably the most beautiful campus in the country.
Can you make a video for us veterinary and medical students at MSU? AKA, those of us who don’t have time or don’t think campus sports and parties are the center of the world?
Watching this was part of the reason I applied for MSU. I loved looking at this from an outsiders perspective: a total college town built around the university itself instead of vice versa. So glad it’s my Alma Mater. GO GREEN!!
As someone who grew up in Michigan and attended MSU for 4 years, the winters are as not cold as these folks indicate. East Lansing is NOT in the Upper Peninsula or even as cold as most of Wisconsin or Minnesota or many other areas of the northern US. The Great Lakes actually moderate the temperatures, summer and winter. " Subzero days" are VERY rare!! Expect highs on a "typical" January day to be in the 20s -30s and that can vary widely. What it does have are cloudy winter days. Do NOT expect to see much sun during the winter. And with 50,000 students in total, not everyone is partying or standingin long lines to enter a bar. Again, this video gives a VERY narrow view of campus life. It seems this guy went straight to the "social" students instead of those studying in the library, practicing in the music college, working in the labs, or devoting weekends at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams working on their doctorate.
You'll honestly love it. Huge campus, but getting around isn't as bad as some people say it is. If you're really into sports, highly suggest going to a few football games and getting into the Izzone. Those have been the best experiences for me so far.@@GavinOCo
@@jakekelly7634 okay thanks for the advice i definitely wanna be in the izzone- but how brutal is the weather? Im from jersey so im a little worried i heard michigan gets terrible
@@GavinOCo Honestly, it can get pretty bad in January and February snow-wise. Other than that, it's pretty mild the rest of the year. The past month and a half here has actually been amazing and warm.

What do you mean?
Gary McMichael you know how many people apply but how many actually get in. Just because they're not Ivy doesn't mean they're not a challenge.
How's masters in mechanical engineering there?
