Janet, your expertise has saved me again! I've had my Q'Nique 15R for 5 years, QCT for 3 and I love it. My problems began yesterday when I accidentally popped out the bobbin spring. It's hard to get it back into the bobbin case and when I was finally successful with getting the spring back in it wouldn't sew. I discovered that the spring was too flat and my local quilting store didn't have a new one, but she gave me a Magic Genie ring to try. It worked but I still couldn't get my needle to pick up the bobbin thread. I turned to your RUclips videos and rewatched this one. I got my manual out, followed along with your tension info, and now I'm quilting again! You're a lifesaver! Videos from you and your hubby helped me from unboxing, setting up Continuum frame, beginning quilting, and learning the Quilters Creative Touch automated program. So I truly want to thank you both for all the videos and help you both provide for these wonderful quilting machines.
I appreciated this video. You did an outstanding job of explaining what is needed and showing how to do the task. Your up close tutorial is better than some named brand videos!
Thank you so much for this video. I am kind of afraid of my machine! lol I am going to read my manual cover to cover, and check out all these things you have suggested. I so appreciate this information, and I took notes. I really want to get going on my machine!!!
Sounds like you'll be fine ~ the best way to get going is to get going 🙂 The stuff you learn by doing will be the stuff you remember best! I think a lot of people skip reading the manual. I re-read mine every now and then and find it very helpful to do that.
Thank you so much Janet for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to make these videos. It is so helpful to those of us who are trying to figure out how to use this machine on our own. You are appreciated!!
I know this may sound crazy....but I've been where you are with the first Q'nique 14+ I had and this sure made a difference for me......walk up to your machine, face it squarely, and say in a very confident OUT LOUD voice, "I own you!! You do NOT own me!! Yes, we're a team but I'm the boss!" If all you can get out is a squeaky timid small voice, then you'll have to try again. You must speak loud and confident (whether you feel it or not.) You have to have that "mental shift". One time when I was struggling with tension - to work out my frustration, I turned the upper tension all the way one way then all the way the other. I don't know if that helped with the tension any but boy was that freeing!! I'd been so careful to barely touch and change anything....after that, it was no holds barred! lol One of my proudest moments was learning how to change the upper tension assembly. When I did that, I knew I had "arrived" ruclips.net/video/G71uJq1MSZo/видео.html Read your manual all the way through so you're aware of everything in it. Don't be scared to make adjustments. Different threads can need different tension so don't get caught (like I did) in the "set it and forget it" trap. You're going to be fine! Start in using your machine and every time gets easier. Then the beautiful day comes when you help someone else. :-)
Great video! My Grace longa em and frame are arriving soon. I am quite nervous and excited. This video help me a lot to start to understand it! Thank you kindly.
I love the magnetic bobbins.....when they work right! I used to use them a lot but have pretty much stopped since there were so many that the magnet was too strong. I had to create a "paper washer" to tone down the magnet strength. If I didn't do that, no matter how loose the bobbin case screw was, I could still lift the case off my hand pulling on the thread!!!!! Others were saying the same thing so I knew it wasn't just me. I am doing fine winding my own (using Glide thread) and have become a huge fan of the red Innova bobbins.
Please can you show the upper tension assembly regarding The 21 new tension with numbers, no one seems to show that part system with the dial, and how all those inner pieces fit back in, I dropped it, and all the inner parts spread out all over, I have them all, but I am not sure if i am getting the order or putting it back together right. Thank you for any help,
OMG! 3 years later am just now seeing your comment - never got an email notification from YT. I'm hoping you have looooong since got things figured out .... but here's the video showing: ruclips.net/video/G71uJq1MSZo/видео.html
Great video. I wanted to purchase the qnique 20 by December 31 but just saw the reviews. A little worry about it. 47 percent for 1 star. Do you love yours
I am sorry to just now be replying!!! Didn't get an email from YT notifying of your comment. But better late than never - so after 2 years .... yes, have loved my Q'nique 21!
Hi Janet - just viewed this. Great video. Wish we could get the 21 in my country, but Bernina refuse saying that they have their own longarm (which is not compatible with QCT). Anyway, I digress. What hopper foot are you using?
It is the Glide foot that comes in the 9-piece foot attachment set. One of these days.....I'm going to try out the other 8 feet!!! At least it's super fast and easy to change them. P.S. If I ever have a million dollars, I'm going to send you TWO Q'21's. One to use and one as backup :-)
Brilliant video, thank you Janet. Learning so much 🤗
Glad it was helpful! We never quit learning!!

@@Joyfulstamper Thank you very much.
Such an informative tutorial and I would definitely like to receive a copy of what you are checking off your list to do.

Really great job showing tension know hows. :)
Great Job Janet!! Thx
Janet thank you for this video. Very helpful for a new long arm owner. May I ask where did you get the needle alignment?
I got mine from Linda's Electric Quilters www.longarmsupplies.net/needlealignmentmagnet.aspx
