I remember watching this a few years ago, and now I have an offer to RVC! Feels so unreal :) Could I ask why you chose Bristol over RVC and the other schools? Thanks!!
Anita A yeah! I do have one filmed! I’m releasing one on how to pick the right vet school next week, and one on personal statements soon so be sure to subscribe
Hi! I volunteered on a farm for 4 years where I would feed and clean stables/pens of chickens, pigs and sheep etc. However I was very young at the time (8-12) so do you think this would count as a form of work experience? I also did 7 weeks as a lab assistant last year but this was in a micro-biology lab, not really animal related?
Labs may count as clinical experience, email the uni to check, but your 4 years of farm will not count. However, you can mention both in your personal statement
Work experience has to be be withing 2 years of applying to Uni. Lab experience will be positive but each uni will say if they accept that as normally its clinical experience.
Well done for getting accepted to all your choices, that's incredible!!! Which college are you planning on going to? I'm applying this year to veterinary colleges in the UK, my top choice would definitely be either Edinburgh or Glasgow. Can't wait to see more of your videos :)
hi! im sure you know that this years IB exams have been cancelled. because of that, while i did really well, i didnt do AS well as I wanted, and scored a 5 in chemistry instead of a 6 which made me get rejected from Edin, my top choice. As you may have heard, there has been many problems with the way the IB calculated our grades with many people scoring below their ability. Because of that, I am currently looking into clearing into Bristol and will have a decision from them soon. if they choose not to accept me via clearing, i will be reapplying this coming fall after actually sitting for a chemistry exam (which will take place in november) because I know im a not a 5 student. The uni's have reassured me that this year they will allow resits unlike other years, and I am confident I will be able to get into most vet schools again as I've been through the entire application process and know what to do so I am not too worried. I am also not too bothered by taking a gap year as I do not want hybrid learning and I would love more time on farms for work experience. Hope that helps! My top choices are Edin and Bristol, because they are recognised by my home country so i can practice there in the future. Im not too keen on RVC because I don't want to live in London
@@zoestorms3537 Hopefully you get accepted to Bristol then! Although I think a gap year would really be beneficial as well if they don't accept you, but from watching this video you seem like a hard working student so I hope it works out for you :) Also I'm not too sure about RVC too since its in London and much pricier than other locations.
@@sarahor5971 bristol JUST got back to me and i got in! so relieved i dont have to redo chem LMAO. yes, rvc is great because of how high class their facilities are but i truly didnt want to live in london and shift campuses so i declined my offer with them. a lot of the edinburgh offer holders will firm edin, insure glasgow or firm rvc and insure edin. For bristol it's firm bristol and insure nottingham. dont forget theres a new course by the RVC, course D105 btw RVC and Aberystwyth and a new vet school called Harper something.... sorry dont remember the name rn. But yeah give the new RVC course a go, because youll be in Hawkshead not London
hello do you know is it okay if I still apply to edin despite not having physics in igcse? since I emailed the admission administrator earlier and she told me they also accept my Integrated science achievement (in lower form), but would suggest doing some self-study on the subject. do you think that would actually reduce my chance of getting in, or do you recommend taking the exam during summer? (but I cant take the actual exam this year since it has been cancelled due to covid and i dont know what to do) thanks!
hi do you know any places to do work experience in hong kong but i cant find anything so do you mind telling me what hospital and things you did exspence in at hong kong cause like you said its hard to find. :) overall thought that was an amazing first video.
i know this video is old but i want help. I only like the rvc (royal veterinary college). Like i have researched all of them and the only one i would like is the rvc. SO do i just apply for that one and hope i get in? if i don't get in do i just apply the year after? i have what like 2 years because i want to do my A levels first. but yh any help is appreciated.
firstly, ask yourself why do you only want to go to the RVC? you have about 25% or less chance of getting in. if it's for the facilities, the world class lecturers, the rankings etc then many other UK schools are extremely comparable such as edinburgh which i think is top 5 in the world, cambridge and glasgow in the top 10 and bristol which is number 11. Bristol, Glasgow and Edin are also all accreddited by AVMA, SAVC, EAEVE and RCVS and offer rural/urban campus environments. However, if its for reasons that ONLY the RVC can offer you and you definitely will not be happy going anywhere else, then I suggest you do not waste time applying to other vet schools as the application process is tedious, with interviews and supplementary forms that take hours to do. But don't forget you still have to do around 4-6 weeks of work experience, and to do that for one uni only with no backup seems a bit rash.
But there really is no point attending a school you wont be happy with. Remember that rankings are not everything. As you progress through A Levels you might realise that you are tired of the lecture/preached to method, and the integrated nature of Notts, Surrey and H&K appeal to you more. I started out wanting to go to RVC too but realised that many unis will offer the same quality education. If you want more shelter/community medicine experience rather than purely high class referral medicine which you might not see much of in practice, then Notts might appeal to you more than RVC as Notts partners with the RSPCA. Remember to keep an open mind, I never saw myself coming to bristol (as edin was my dream) but love it here all the same. The interview was my key reason why i decided edin was better for me than rvc, as I did not like how the professors at the rvc ineracted with me. Don't close yourself off to all the other UK schools just yet
RVC also only lets applicants reapply ONCE, and with less favour than new applicants (at least that was the case when I applied. said so on their website). I hope this helped

If you can’t take the exam and they said they accept your integrated science I’m sure you can still apply without it affecting your chances
THANKYOUUUUUUUU im applying and im so scared, what If I don't even get past the supplementary form section omg
Do you need a reference letter for each of the work experience?
This video is so helpful!
Thank you so much this is so helpful!!
i'm glad it helped! i plan on making more soon like how to write personal statements and interview tips. all the best for your application!
Thanks, good help!
