In this video, we discuss the curious science that is the inclined plate settler (also known as a Lamella). The process is a bit counter-intuitive, but through an interesting experiment, this video shows how they work. Inclined plate settlers can reduce required footprint by 80% compared to traditional gravity settling. Наука
Excellent wording: a balance between concise and comprehensive explanation, not leaving any logical gap to listener.
Just fantastic - simple and easy and I will always remember this .
Very lucid explanation, nothing left to imagination or to logic of viewer. Thanks a ton!
I loved the video! The explanation was really good. Congratulations!
Thank you for the concise and clear explanation.
AWESOME video! very well explained! congratulations!
Clear as water explanation. Thank you very much.
This is great explanation.
Well done , very nice video!!
Very well done!
Great video.
Excellent explaination of Stokes Law
Great explanation! thanks
excellent video
So good. You are too good.
Thanks for your superb explaination
Excellent just excellent 🙌
Can't make it any simpler. Great.
Easily understood. 👍
I would love to purchase something like this for demonstration purposes
Terrific. But the Stokes law equation might need more explanation. Speed is inversely proportional to Radius since higher radius produces more drag. But....on the other hand higher radius multiplied by density means higher weight, which increases speed. Thanks
Anybody know where I can get one of those cute test tube/demonstration units he is using?
Hi Greg,
The tubes are something we had custom created. It's a popular and useful item and we hope to have more in stock in the near future!
ParksonCorporation great! I would absolutely love one of these as a coagulant/polymer sales rep! It would be so helpful for explaining this principle to customers and anyone else! Lamella plates are so simple yet so amazing!
Hello,
What kind of sand was used inside the tubes??
thks!
Hi Adolfo,

Wow
but how can group up make it faster 😭, can anybody explain it for me plz!!!
Hi Aodex,
The following article might be useful to help better clarify your inquiry. www.scientificamerican.com/article/rolling-race/ Please don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions. Thank you!
So stoke's law works when we assume that all the present particles are relatively round, is there a way to give each different shape a modifying constant to find the settling velocity for say a flake or cubic particle?
Hi David,
There are articles online that discuss form factors or shape factors that can be used to adjust settling velocity calculations. However, as with most calculation of this type, results are theoretical as each parameter in the formula is an estimate. Here at Parkson we take a simpler approach, which is to do simple settling tests to confirm performance of a particular application if is something we may have not done before.
