Idea for the hay field water tank.
If by chance you have an extra circular one ton hay feeders, you can place it in the middle of the water tank. It may not keep the bison completely out, but it will limit how far they can get in it.
It is just a thought to consider.

For the water tank. Get a piece of plywood large enough to cover about half of the tank. Lay it across the top to cover the half near the fence. Use a Jig Saw to cut a hole near the corners nearest the fence, slide chains through the holes and chain it to the fence. This will keep them from knocking the plywood off and keep the water cleaner and cooler longer and hopefully prevent the herd from climbing in for a dip. 😊

I noticed a car slowing down and stopping on the road. You need a CAUTION, bison watching! Slow down! Sign on the road. It’s unusual to see bison on a farm. Your local neighbors should be used to it by now!

Boy, Bison really look shaggy this time of year. Really molting and seems it takes a long time. Dunbar is walking better.. I hope his injury doesn’t prevent his breeding. Big Joe was bigger and tough! Y’all take great care of them all. The wild flowers are beautiful. Showing this fence bldg looks fast, but I know it took days, glad you had help!

It’s so nice to have your fence put up so you can separate Big Joe and Dunbar.
Its great to have family willing to help, especially with the water situation. Maybe soon you’ll be able to drill your own well and have the water there. Do you have some kind of fencing not a big free panel, but a different smaller size that you could lay over part of the water trough so that the bison won’t get in it? That’s my only thought. Maya is such a good dog, and very cute.
